Abstract

The transformational educational leadership approach that inspires and motivates teams to achieve extraordinary results is not devoid of any challenges. Educational leaders must be progressive in innovation, inclusiveness, and adaptation to the changing times. They must skilfully communicate emerging challenges to help teams in the educational environment. Perception differences lead to conflicts, thus impacting team communication and collaboration, which in turn affects the achievement of organisational or institution’s goals. This study aims to determine the role of interpersonal communication skills in progressive educational leadership and outline the patterns of interpersonal communication associated in progressive educational leadership. Through the use of narrative literature review methods, these studies show that educational leadership must be progressive in facing the challenges of changing times, and the need for interpersonal communication skills to make this happen. Interpersonal communication is an important element in progressive educational leadership. Many scholarly sources have been reviewed and analysed to support these findings. The study identifies key interpersonal communication skills in progressive educational leadership, such as active listening, clear messaging, empathy, respect for diversity, team collaboration facilitation, effective feedback provision, evidence-based communication, conflict resolution, and the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of interpersonal communication in progressive educational leadership.

Abstract

Abstract In the first half of 2022, Ancol is rebranding by releasing a new logo. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotic Analysis, specifically applying Peirce's Second Trichotomy Theory of Triangle Meaning. Data collection techniques through documentation, literature study, and face-to-face and online interviews via Zoom. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of the message that Ancol wants to convey through its new logo from the visualisation displayed is a depiction of the Ancol parent brand, which presents beach tourism as its main tour and various educational, entertainment and recreational tours with underwater themes as Ancol's sub-brand tourism. The use of ocean blue in the logo represents the tourism identity that Ancol's parent brand presents, namely navy blue for Ancol beach tourism. The “Ancol” typography on the new logo is made with the MVB grenadine font which represents Ancol's vision, especially the letters “C” and “O'' which became an integrated unit like Ancol's vision– to evolve into the most expansive and integrated property development company in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This article aims to analyse new advocacy model pioneered by young activist Greta Thunberg and its possible applications for Indonesia. Margareth E. Keck and Kathryn Sikkink's theoretical approaches is used in this study to include advocacy strategies incorporating information politics, symbolic politics, leverage politics, and accountability politics. The study uses a qualitative method, specifically utilising a literature review approach. Data visualisation and analysis were conducted using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and NVivo 12 software. Findings of this study show that Greta's new advocacy model effectively grabs the attention of young people and encourages them to take part in advocacy initiatives. It also highlights the need of environmental ethics as the foundation for advocacy initiatives. Indonesian teenagers lack knowledge to be pioneers because they do not grasp environmental ethics, which is crucial for environmental campaign. This article offers a new approach to the environmental movement in Indonesia, based on environmental ethics being led by young people.

Abstract

The Hajat Lembur is a yearly ritual by Batu Lonceng Villagers, in West Bandung-Indonesia, following the 1956 landslide disaster that occurred in the Lembang Fault area. A series of local wisdom emerged as important messages tucked into the procession that are related to the ritual communication concept. Based on the three interrelated terms of ritual communication: communication, communion, and commonality (Couldry,2003), this research seeks to reveal the meaning of the Hajat Lembur tradition as disaster risk reduction literacy. This research uses a case study approach, conducted by participatory observation in the Hajat Lembur ritual procession in 2023; in-depth interviews with two informants, in the form of opinion leaders who play a central role in the ritual procession; and literature reviews. The results showed that in terms of communication, the Hajat Lembur tradition is interpreted as a transcendent medium about the importance of maintaining harmonisation between humans, nature, and the Creator. In terms of communion, it is a celebration of the sacred Batu Wahyu that led to an agreement to establish a sacred forest, as an area that must be preserved. In terms of commonality, this ritual is a joint expression of the Batu Lonceng Village community about the importance of protecting nature and the environment inherited by the ancestors. Although there is a need for more established local knowledge in this area, this research contributes to the future of disaster mitigation management by emphasising rationality and local wisdom in dealing with natural disasters.

Abstract

This research aims to understand and evaluate the climate of neo-racism in Indonesia, focusing on discriminatory experiences within a heterogeneous society. The study employs a qualitative and content analysis approach, utilising 7.097 tweets about racism as primary data and a literature review as secondary data. In the analysis process, the researchers used Netlytic software to identify patterns or trends of racism on Twitter. The obtained data were then reconstructed to ensure validity. Subsequently, the data were reduced, presented, and concluded to identify the racism climate on Twitter accurately. The findings of this study reveal that the dynamics of neo-racism on Twitter reflect deep-seated issues regarding society's understanding of racism. In Indonesia, the legacy of colonialism and identity politics exacerbates this situation, while regulations and law enforcement remain ineffective in addressing this issue. Analysis of netizens' interactions shows that much content focuses on accusations and validation without concrete solutions. Therefore, comprehensive efforts involving robust regulation, social media ethics education, and cooperation between the government, social media platforms, and the community are necessary. These efforts aim to create an inclusive environment that respects diversity, while also building collective awareness of the importance of tolerance and eliminating discrimination.

Abstract

This study investigates the poverty alleviation approach employed by social services in Medan and the influence of remote indigenous community projects. Poverty results in several social and economic issues, underscoring the importance of identifying and implementing effective strategies to alleviate these challenges. This study investigates the impact of moral communication and social support on poverty reduction. It assesses the effectiveness of social support for communities using integrated data on prosperous families (in Bahasa called DTKS). The study employed a descriptive qualitative research methodology. The researchers obtained data by conducting interviews, observations, and analysing documents. Social services employ Islamic communication strategies to address poverty, encompassing various forms of social assistance. Only localities with integrated data on prosperous families can receive this funding. Social services employ this approach to diminish poverty and empower the community. For isolated indigenous tribes, social services extend beyond Islamic communication to implement policies that provide practical vocational training programmes that promote work integration and technical oversight. This study examines the utilisation of Islamic communication and social agencies' assistance to combat poverty. It also provides guidance for policies and activities specifically targeted towards indigenous communities. These discoveries can provide valuable insights for shaping future social service practices and regulations.

Abstract

The debate over AI has focused on its contrast with human employment. Simple perspectives are inadequate in public communication fields like Public Relations (PR). The conversation must shift from discussing AI's impact on human jobs to how AI will shape public communication as AI becomes more important in PR. To examine AI's effects on Public Relations, this study uses a literature review focusing on authority and public voice. Due to the risks of AI misuse, data discrimination, and data poisoning, public relations must carefully consider the implications of AI integration. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Relations is studied using a literature review as its main method. Experts are consulted to identify AI's most significant challenges and opportunities in public relations. Public relations (PR) are affected by Artificial Intelligence (AI), which presents both opportunities and challenges. AI can boost public communication, but it also risks data misuse and discrimination. Ethical issues arise when AI represents the public's voice. This study provides useful insights into how Indonesia's Public Relations profession should approach Artificial Intelligence. PR professionals can overcome technical and ethical challenges and revolutionise public communication with AI integration. Therefore, ethical PR practice and the use of AI are becoming increasingly important.

Abstract

Abstract The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation systems in the digital world challenges agricultural extension. This study investigates the contemporary significance of diverse and productive agriculture, specifically focusing on agricultural extension. This study investigates the implementation of agricultural extension services in Indonesia's automation, digital, and adapting environments through a comprehensive review of existing literature. Studies have indicated that agricultural extension plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change. This study assesses the effectiveness of agricultural extension services in different environments in Indonesia through qualitative research methods. Information was gathered by conducting interviews, surveys, and field observations. The results demonstrate the indispensability of agricultural extension in all types of environments, particularly in addressing climate change. It has been ascertained that each environment necessitates distinct educational approaches. Digital environments prioritise acquiring technical knowledge, automation environments necessitate education in sustainable agricultural practices, and adapting environments prioritise integrating field experience and local knowledge. This study provides an extensive review of the functions of agricultural extension. It demonstrates that agricultural extension can combat climate change. Furthermore, it underscores the importance of employing educational methods and approaches tailored to the specific environment, as this will influence the development of agricultural extension education.

Abstract

‘Mediamorphosis’ is a transformation of communication media caused by complex interactions between perceived needs, competitive and political pressures, and social and technological innovation. The digital revolution that gave birth to media digitalisation is one of the causes of mediamorphosis. Another thing that drives mediamorphosis is the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia and other countries in the world. Mediamorphosis is a concept used in this study because it refers to the form of radio broadcasts that have changed and adapted due to the novel COVID-19 virus throughout the world and in Indonesia. The main social regulations by the Indonesian Government have implications for radio broadcasting operations. This study aims to see how local private radio– Radio Elisa FM carries out mediamorphosis which is analysed more specifically using the concept of convergence. The research paradigm used is constructivism with a qualitative approach and case study method. The results of the study show that the mediamorphosis carried out by Radio Elisa produces a new face for Radio Elisa broadcasts as a visual radio in the new normal era.
