Abstract

Literacy at the elementary school level plays a crucial role in building language skills, understanding texts, and critical thinking. Class reading corners are an effective means of increasing student literacy. This research explains student literacy problems and the use of classroom reading corners to make the School Literacy Movement or Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) at SDN Lesanpuro 2 Malang City a success. The research approach uses descriptive qualitative with a case study type. The subjects in this research were teaching staff and students in grades IV–VI for the 2022/2023 academic year. Observation, interviews, and documentation were carried out in data collection. The research results show that teachers are important in utilizing the classroom reading corner. Utilizing a classroom reading corner is very effective in making the school literacy movement successful if the arrangement is interesting, the activities are varied, and the circulation of reading materials is carried out continuously. Literacy-based learning using the reading corner at SDN Lesanpuro 2 Malang City is carried out through several processes, namely (1) Planning, (2) Exploration, (3) Fairy Tale Show or Reading Together, (4) Book Discussion, (5) Literacy Competition. Continuous use of classroom reading corners can strengthen literacy culture in schools. This is reflected through an increase in the number of students actively visiting the reading corner and an increase in student academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of gamification in developing soft skills and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) among students. The background of this study is the low interest and achievement of students in STEM fields, as well as the lack of 21st century skills, such as creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving, that are needed in the digital era. This study uses an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample of this study is grade X students from three public high schools in Lamongan, namely SMA Negeri 2 Lamongan, SMAN 1 Sukodadi, And SMA Negeri 1 Babat, who are divided into two groups, namely the experimental group that receives learning with gamification, and the control group that receives regular learning. The instruments of this study are STEM ability tests and soft skill questionnaires compiled based on predetermined indicators. This study produces findings that there are significant differences between the experimental and control groups regarding STEM ability and soft skills. The experimental group shows higher improvement than the control group. This indicates that gamification can be an effective strategy for developing soft skills and STEM among students. This study contributes to developing the theory and practice of gamification in education, especially in STEM fields. This study also provides suggestions for teachers, schools, and future researchers.

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether Islamic religious education influences the formation of students' morals in vocational schools. This research was conducted using a research sample of 40 students. In processing the data, we carry out the following methods: Editing, namely checking the questionnaire filled out by the respondent. Scoring is giving a score according to the level. Data obtained from distributing questionnaires was processed using statistical methods. Look for correlation numbers using the data discussed between two interrelated variables. Then, the data uses the product moment correlation formula to study the hypothesis of whether or not there is an influence between the variables. Based on the results of product-moment correlation calculations, at the 5% significance level, r table = 0.312; at the 1% significance level, r table = 0.403. This means that there is a significant positive correlation at the 5% significance level (0.692 > 0.312) and the 1% significance level (0.692 > 0.403). This means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and proven to be true because "ro" is greater than "rt," and the null hypothesis or hypothesis (Ho) is rejected as true.
