Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the gap between the concepts of current and voltage between junior high school students and teachers in Indonesia. The number of samples was 720 students, class X, and 527 teachers who were selected by purposive sampling diagnostic test current, mains voltage, 30 question items valid and reliable. The results show that even with a simple circuit (one or two lamps and a battery), there are still gaps in the conception of current and voltage; if the circuit is more complicated, There will be many gaps in conception, namely: (1) consumption model, (2) local reasoning, (3) voltage source is seen as a constant current source rather than a fixed voltage source, (4) voltage difference, (5) series and parallel terms, (6) source electrons, (7) power consumption, (8) guess the answer choices, (9) the explanation does not match the correct choice.

Abstract

This study aims to create STEM-based science teaching materials based on simple electrical circuits and determine the feasibility of STEM-based teaching materials. Research and development of the Dick & Carey model is the type of research used. The research process comprises four stages: needs analysis, product design, validation and evaluation, and testing. Material experts, presentation experts, linguists, and graphic experts are all involved in expert validation. Teachers who teach science subjects participate in the product feasibility test. Individual, small group, and field trials assess students’ readability. Expert validation revealed that the content aspect was 97.7 % with a very decent category, the presentation aspect was 97.7% with a very proper category, the language aspect was 85% with a very decent category, and the visual aspect was 80 percent with a worthy category. The science teacher’s feasibility test results showed that the content aspect was 90 % with an excellent category, the presentation aspect was 98.6% with an outstanding category, and the language aspect was 96.7% with a superior category. Students’ readability test results showed an average score of 87.7% in the excellent category. Based on the validation and legibility trials findings, developing STEM-based science teaching materials (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) on simple electrical circuit materials is feasible. It can be used as a learning resource.

Abstract

This study aims to discover the characteristics of Animaker-based animated video, explore opportunities, measure feasibility and effectiveness, and analyze students’ responses to Animaker-based animated video and quiz team activities in improving the static fluid concept’s mastery. The method used in this research is R&D with the ADDIE development model. The result of this research shows that Animaker-based animated video and quiz team activities have the opportunity to improve the mastery of static fluid concepts. The characteristics of Animaker-based animated video media are shown in each part of the video, such as a teacher’s animation, process illustration, case study, practice questions, and simulation examples. The average validation score from three media experts is 87.1%, meaning the Animaker-based animated video is highly feasible. Animaker-based animated video media and team activities quizzes effectively improve the mastery of static fluid concepts. Student responses get a percentage of 82% in the very good category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the reasons of students' interest in learning physics in Senior High School. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection method used includes a questionnaire. The questionnaire is in the form of closed questions with a Likert scale from 1-5 addressed to students. This research was conducted in local schools in the city of Semarang that were selected in accordance with the direction and objectives of this research. School A represents superior schools, school B represents mediocre schools, and school C represents non-excellent schools. The results showed that 1) the highest percentage of interest in learning physics was at School A which was 78.72%. Meanwhile, the lowest percentage of interest in learning physics is 46.83% (School C). The percentages are 67.59%, 56.76%, and 55.56%, respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of the instrument for assessing students' collaboration skills in learning physics. This research is Research and Development (R & D) research with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. In this research, the researcher limited the stages in the ADDIE model to the development stage only, so that the development research stages were reduced from five steps to three steps, namely analysis, design and development. The population in this study were students of SMA Negeri 1 Piyungan with a sample of 25 students. The instrument used is a questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using validity and reliability tests with the help of the SPSS application. The results obtained show that the validity value obtained is 1.00 with a very high validity category and the reliability value shown through the Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.927 is in the very high criteria. In the small group trial, an rtable value of 0.396 was also obtained, and the rcount value was in the range of 0.425 – 0.760. From these results it shows that the instrument for assessing students' collaboration skills in learning physics is valid and feasible to use.

Abstract

Empowerment of problem-solving skills is one of the many goals 21st-century education intends to achieve. This research employs content analysis on several articles published in journals between January 2017 and December 2022, primarily focusing on problem-solving skills in physics teaching. This study aims to identify annual trends in research on problem-solving skills in physics teaching, identify the most frequently researched physics materials related to these skills, and identify the most frequently used grade students as research subjects for these skills. This study uses content analysis guidelines as a research instrument. In this study's content analysis, there are four main aspects reviewed. These aspects include (1) the number of publications per year, (2) the type of research, (3) the research subjects, and (4) the material selected for research. The results of this study indicate that in 2020 there will be a higher increase compared to previous years. The most widely used research subjects. The topic most often used as research material was the topic of physics in general. Quantitative research and research and development (R&D) were the most commonly used types of research. The study's findings have led to the proposal of several recommendations for future research that prioritizes problem-solving skills. Some of these recommendations include increasing the diversity of types of research and reviewing the data analysis techniques used.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are fundamental in 21st-century teaching. This study aims to identify trends in research on critical thinking skills in physics in Indonesia, as reported in journal articles published between 2016 and 2022. This is meta-analysis research using the Prisma model. There were 36 articles that met the selection criteria. We performed the data analysis manually and used VOSviewer software. The indicators used for data analysis include the year, type of research, research subject, topic, treatment, data collection instrument, and the application of data analysis in each article. The analysis of article reviews reveals that the research trend for critical thinking skills in physics in Indonesia has increased, with more publications expected in 2020. Temperature and heat are the physics topics that have become the focus of research. High school students in grade X are the most frequently selected research subjects. Research on physics education typically employs quantitative methods, employs a quasi-experimental design, and utilizes a test as a data collection instrument. The most common method of data analysis in research is the t-test.
