Abstract

The learning tool that will be developed is Student Worksheet oriented High Order Thinking (HOTS). Based on interviews with science subject teachers at research school used was student worksheet not HOTS-oriented, which was still Middle Order Thinking Skills level. This study aims (1) determine validity of student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material, (2) describe practicality of student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material, (3) describe effectiveness of student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material developed. Research development with the Four-D development model developed by Thingarajan consists of 4 stages: define, design and develop. The results of the study were seen from percentage of each aspect obtained from 3 validators, namely validator I of 97%, validator II of 73% and validator III of 100% with very valid criteria. In addition, practicality of student worksheets oriented HOTS is seen from three stages, namely student activities (88.28%), learning implementation (100%), and student responses to student worksheets oriented HOTS (87%) with very good criteria. The effectiveness of student worksheets oriented HOTS states that the results of pretest and posttest carried out during learning show different results, namely the posttest is greater than pretest result using N-gain score % with value of 78 categorized as effective. Thus, student worksheets oriented HOTS is feasible and can be used in science learning about environmental pollution. Novelty this research is to produce student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material. Benefits of research can foster creativity of students to think at higher levels independently.

Abstract

April 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially announced the state of the Covid-19 disease pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2. This situation makes the human population in the world limit activities, including learning activities are carried out online. In this condition, practicum activities in Biology learning need to be assisted by media that are easy to understand and accessible to be carried out at home. The media is in the form of videos that can help explain concepts to students by utilizing the YouTube platform to access tutorial videos for practical activities. Based on these interests, it is necessary to research with the aim of 1) Designing a valid Youtube-based biology practicum video tutorial; 2) Describing the validity of the YouTube-based biology practicum video tutorial that was designed. The research method uses a development model adapted from Borg and Gall. This research is only limited to validity testing by validators covering the following aspects: material/content; Systematics; language; graphics; and evaluation. The results of the assessment by the validator showed that the YouTube-based biology practicum tutorial video obtained a score of 4.3 from the average overall assessment aspect. Based on the validity criteria, it shows that the video tutorial is very valid. Thus, it can be concluded that the YouTube-based biology practicum video tutorial designed as an online medium has met the validity criteria. Furthermore, the results of this study can be an alternative learning media in the form of Youtube-Based Biology Practical Tutorial Videos for 7th-grade students of SMP/MTs.

Abstract

The learning process is important because human learning can add and update knowledge that is useful for the future. Science is growing from age to age, so the learning process will develop and the learning methods will be more varied. One of the learning methods that can be applied is the method reciprocal teaching which is one of the effective methods because it trains students' process skills. This study aims to see how the effect of using the method on student learning outcomes, this type of research is pre-experimental research by giving pretest and posttest treatments to one experimental class. The sample of this research is Biology Education students of FKIP UMMA in the Basic Microbiology course program with a total of 26 students consisting of 13 male students and 13 female students where the sampling method used is Purposive Sampling. One experimental class was taught using the Reciprocal Teaching learning method. The research instrument used was a multiple choice test of 20 items which had been validated by two experts, namely content and language experts. The research data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results of this study indicate that there is a higher effect on student learning outcomes who are taught by learning using the reciprocal teaching model than before being given the treatment. These differences indicate that the reciprocal teaching model is an effective learning method used in these subjects because this learning model trains students to be more active and enthusiastic in the learning process.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the perceptions of Biology Department studenst at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo towards online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research employs a survey method, and data are collected through a questionnaire. The research participants are all students majoring in Biology who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic from 2018 to 2021, totaling 420 participants. The sample is determined by using stratified random sampling with 15% in each year totaling 67 participants as the sample. The results indicate that: (1) the lecturer capability indicators are in the very good category with 84%; (2) indicators of learning activities are in the good category with 83.7%; (3) the indicators of facilities and infrasructure are in the good category with 85.3%; (4) The average of all indicators indicate that perception of students majoring in Biology at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo towards online learning during the covid-19 pandemic are in the very good category with 84.3%.

Abstract

This Research is motivated by the low learning outcomes and low social skills of students in science learning. The reality in the field is that students experience difficulties in understanding concepts about inheritance material and the difficulty of students communicating, collaborating in discussion activities during learning. The aim of the research is to improve student learning outcomes and social skills in the matter of inheritance in natural science subjects. This study uses a contextual model with 2 cycles. Based on research results on the use of contextual models can improve learning outcomes and students' social skills in learning natural sciences at SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. This is evidenced by the acquisition of student learning outcomes increasing in each cycle and exceeding the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) score limit of 75. The number of students who completed the first cycle was 18 students (5 6.25 %) and those who did not complete their studies 14 students (43.75 %). After making improvements in cycle II, the percentage of students' learning outcomes was increased by 87.50 % and only 4 students who had not finished with a percentage of 12.50 %. In cycle I students' social skills for aspects of working with friends 75%, aspects of showing social responsibility 62%, aspects of controlling emotions 40.63%, aspects of interacting with others 43.75%, aspects of participating 59.38%, cultivating sportsmanship, discipline and healthy living 51.56%. After implementing improvements in cycle II there was a significant increase in aspects of working with friends (95.31%), showing social responsibility (87.5%), controlling emotions (56.25%), interacting with other people (93.75 %), participating (82.81%), cultivating sportsmanship, discipline and healthy living (62.5%), writing opinions/ideas (73.44%), leading (70.31%).

Abstract

The lack of student learning outcomes is caused by the learning model that is usually taught by teachers tends to be monotonous, therefore this research was conducted as an alternative for teachers in implementing an effective model. This study was a quasi experiment research which purposed to know the differences of student learning outcomes on concept environment changes who taught by problem based learning and contextual teaching and learning at grade X student SMA Negeri 8 Pinrang. The population of this study was whole grade X students of SMA Negeri 8 Pinrang as many as eight classes and the sample was X MIPA 1 class as experiment group I and X MIPA 2 class as experiment group II where each group consist of 30 students. The data was got by givent pretest and posttest. The descriptive statistic analysis showed the average grade of experiment group I was 0,587 with categorized medium and the average grade of experiment group II was 0,402 with categorized medium. The grades showed that student who were thought by problem based learning was better in comparasion than the student who were though with model contextual teaching and learning. The inferensial statistical analysis result through t-test showed sig. (2-tailed) score as 0,000 which less than α (0,05) so that, the researcher make conclucion like there is the differences of students learning outcomes on concept of environment changes who taught by problem based learning with contextual teaching and learning at grade X students of SMA Negeri 8 Pinrang.

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of self-efficacy in students and the learning model used by teachers.. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model on the self-efficacy of SMA Negeri 2 Grabag students on excretion system materials. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were students of class XI MIPA 3 and XI MIPA 4 for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample in this study used two classes from the population class which were used as the control class and the experimental class which were determined using a purposive sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney u-test and the independent t test at a significance level of ∝ =0.05, and analyzed with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that the average initial self-efficacy score of 68.86 experienced an increase in the final average self-efficacy score of 79.43 with an average of 10.57% with the influence of problem-based learning models. Based on research results problem-based learning models can be used as an alternative learning model to improve student self-efficacy. Teachers need to be more active in order to be able to develop learning models that are implemented, so as to increase self-efficacy in students.

Abstract

Learning Strategy Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning strategy that develops students' critical thinking skills through solving real-world problems. This study aims to determine the effect of learning through a Problem-Based Learning strategy integrated with Mind Mapping on students' Biology learning outcomes. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Merbau using a pre-test and post-test control group design. Data from the pre-test and post-test results were analyzed by looking at the N-Grain Score, followed by the ANACOVA test and continued with the parameter estimate test. The Anacova test was carried out to determine the influence of the mind mapping integrated PBL learning model on student learning outcomes. Therefore, a follow-up test was carried out: a parameter estimate test showing Class A (PBL-mind mapping) = 21.582, Class B (PBL) = 21.505 and control class = 0. PBL integrated Mind Mapping has a very significant effect on students' cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to improve collaboration skills and learning outcomes of students majoring in Social Sciences (IIS) in Biology cross-interest subjects through the Problem-Based Learning learning model. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR), which consists of 2 cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 32 class XI IIS 3 students at SMAN 6 Madiun. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets and test sheets. The results obtained were an increase in collaboration with an average score of 74% in cycle 1 and 83% in cycle 2 with a good value category. From these results, it is known that the percentage increase from cycle 1 to cycle 2 is 9%. The results obtained showed an increase in learning outcomes, with the average pretest score in cycle 1 being 48 increasing to 62 in cycle 2 so the percentage increase from cycle 1 to cycle 2 was 29%. While the average post-test score in cycle 1 was 75, it increased to 81 in cycle 2 so that the increase in posttest learning outcomes from cycle 1 to cycle 2 was 8%. The conclusion from this study is that the Problem-Based Learning learning model can improve collaboration skills and learning outcomes of class XI IIS 3 students of SMAN 6 Madiun in cross-biology subjects.

Abstract

Learning problems in class X-I SMAN 6 Madiun lead to cognitive aspects. The majority of students have not been able to achieve completeness in biological technology innovation material, students have not been actively involved, and teachers rarely use student worksheets (LKPD). This study aims to improve the cognitive abilities of students after participating in the biology learning process on biological technology innovation material using lesson study-based problem solving worksheets. The research method used was Classroom Action Research which was carried out in 3 cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection which are collaborated with the lesson study stages, namely plan, do, and see. The results showed that there was an increase in the n-gain value from cycle 1 of 30.74%, cycle 2 of 49.17%, and cycle 3 of 64.36%. Strengthened by the achievement of completeness has increased from cycle 1 to cycle 2 and to cycle 3, namely from 3.45%, to 82.76%, and to 89.66%. The conclusion of this study is that the application of lesson study-based problem solving worksheets can improve students' cognitive abilities. The benefits obtained by students are that through problem solving worksheets students can improve cognitive abilities, make the learning atmosphere more enjoyable and make students active in class.
