Abstract

Industri kelapa sawit yang di kenal sebagai tandan kosong kelapa sawit. Saat ini perkembangan teknologi bahan semakin pesat. Berbagai bahan telah penelitian berlanjut untuk mendapatkan matrial yang lebih baik, yaitu matrial komposit. Tujuan penelitian dapat mengetahui pengaruh fraksi volume serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit dengan sifat mekanik, jenis patahan dan mencari komposisi fraksi volume yang terbaik. Metode penelitian yang di gunakan pencetakan penekanan fraski volume 4%, 6% dan 8% pengujian di lakukan kampus Politeknik Negeri Pontianak Kampus Kab. Sanggau. Penelitian telah mendapatkan hasil, dengan bertambahnya fraksi volume serat maka nilai kekuatan tarik yang di miliki spesimen fraksi volume serat 4%,6%, dan 8%  43.20 MPa, 65.00MPa, dan 86.12MPa. Nilai regangan masing-masing pada fraksi volume 4%, 6%, dan 8% yaitu 11.80%, 4.07% dan 4.68%  dan tanpa serat 6.47% adanya pengaruh regangan komposit berpenguat serat TKSS yakni pada fraksi volume 4% yakni 11.80%. Komposit bepenguat serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit bisa di jadikan penguat pada komposit. Jenis patahan yang terjadi pada spesimen resin polyster dan komposit berpenguat serat TKKS jenis patahan getas. Fraksi volume serat 6% yang di miliki modulus elastistas terbesar dengan nilai 21,04 MPa. Hasil ini mempengaruhi fraski volume serat 4% dan 8% 2.66% , dan 21.48% sedangkan tanpa serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit 8.79MPa.Kata kunci: Resin Polyster, Komposit, Serat tandan kosong kelapa Sawit, UJi tarik

Abstract

Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana Willd) has various benefits and has high economic value. Candlenut seeds are widely used by the community as cooking spices, for cosmetic purposes, until the oil is taken for industrial purposes. So far, the process of processing candlenut seeds carried out by candlenut entrepreneurs in Batulanteh District, Batu Dulang Village, Sumbawa Regency is still simple, namely by drying under direct sunlight and using a solar dryer. This causes the drying process of candlenut seeds to take quite a long time. To increase the drying time of candlenut seeds, further research is needed on the development of a candlenut drying machine. This research is a study on the development of a candlenut drying machine by comparing variations in the type and thickness of the insulator on the wall surface of the candlenut drying room. The results of the study with a time of 60 minutes with a temperature of 80°C and a thickness of 6 mm showed that the use of aluminum foil, glasswool, and stryfoam insulators can accelerate the evaporation of hazelnut moisture content with values of 3%, 2%, and 2%, respectively.

Abstract

The community in Patin Village smokes fish in the traditional way, namely first, the fish to be smoked first, the fish are cleaned, the second the fish is split on the back to clean from dirt, the three fish that have been split will be arranged in the provided place, then fish will be put in the smoking place. Fish smoking device using closed circulation and temperature monitoring system that has been made. The purpose of the study was to compare the time efficiency of the smoked smoked smoked fish in the traditional way and to know the comparison of the smoking process of smoked smoked fish using coconut fiber and tangkos fuel. The results of the tests that have been carried out can be seen the lowest temperature when taking data 1⁄2 hours once produces 50°C and the highest temperature reaches 110°C. The temperature in the smoking room can be seen and monitored by a digital-based temperature controller with the results of testing the water content in the fish not too far away, the highest water content is 50% using Tangkos fuel, the room temperature at the time of testing is the highest at the time of taking with the highest is 110 oC using tangkos fuel and the difference in the consumption of tangkos fuel and coconut fiber has a difference in smoking, one of which is when testing the highest tangkos fuel it spends as much as 25.71 kg, coconut fiber spends the highest 19.42 kg with fish that different.

Abstract

Spray characteristics have an important role in improving the quality of combustion in compression engines. This study analyzes the effect of ambient temperature on spray characteristics including spray tip penetration, spray angle and velocity of spray. The research method uses an experimental method with ambient temperature variations of 60oC, 80oC, 100oC controlled using a thermocouple and an ambient pressure of 0.3 MPa. the composition of the fuel uses diesel (diesel 100%), B30 (30% biodiesel), B100 (100% biodiesel). Image recording using camera speed 480 fms. Based on the experimental results, the ambient temperature increases the spray angle and B100 at all ambient temperatures has a spray tip penetration, velocity of spray is lower.

Abstract

The amount of fossil energy reserves, especially fuel oil, which is dwindling, is the main focus for finding alternative energy sources. One of the most popular renewable energies today is biodiesel. Biodiesel can be obtained from free fatty acids from plants. One type of plant that can produce biodiesel as a raw material is kepuh (Sterculia foetida). The kepuh plant produces crude oil through fruit seeds which can be processed into biodiesel. However, biodiesel has a high viscosity value that affects the combustion reaction. Therefore we need an additive, namely ethanol to accelerate the combustion reaction. This study aims to determine the effect of the composition of ethanol in biodiesel on the characteristics of diffusion combustion. The research method used is the combustion diffusion test. The variables used in this study were the composition of biodiesel and ethanol. The composition of ethanol is 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%. The test results produce data that ethanol has an effect on the rate of diffusion of combustion and flame height. The combustion rate increases with the addition of ethanol and the flame height decreases with the addition of ethanol.

Abstract

Indonesia was one of the exporting countries of betel nut, lately the selling price of betel nut has increased. Betel nut that has a high selling price, was an old betel nut that has been dried. Various forms of betel nut that were sold in the market include whole betel nut, split betel nut and sliced betel nut. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of the spin speed of the peeling mechanism on the timing and peeling result, and to find out the best interaction between the spin speed and the number of peeling rods that able to producing the best peeling efficiency. The method used in the study was a randomized design experiment consisting of two factors: spin speed (1000 rpm, 1200 rpm, 1400 rpm, 1600 rpm) and the number of peeling rods (12, 18 and 24) with 12 testing interactions. The main parameter observed was the percentage of peeled fruit with whole condition. The performance test result proved that the increase of the spin speed peeling mechanism has an effect on the efficiency of time, when the speed spin of the peeling mechanism increases, the time it takes to peel the dried betel nut was decreases. But this condition was not directly proportional to the increasing percentage of dried betel nut that was whole peeled. The best peeling interaction was at a speed of 1400 rpm, with 18 peeling rods. This interaction produced peeling efficiency, 88% of whole peeled fruit, 12% of split peeled fruit and 0% of the unpeeled fruit.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the temperature value at each point of the refrigeration performance tool, heat absorption, refrigerant flow rate, compressor power, and the working speed of the refrigeration performance test tool or (Coefficient Of Performance) COP during the 60 minute test time. The method that will be used in this research is to modify the test equipment and conduct real experiments by analyzing several variables that affect the performance of the air conditioning system. The independent variables in this study were the refrigerant pressure of 60 Psi, 70 Psi, and 80 Psi. The addition of several components of measuring instruments that function to display data will be carried out at each point as needed. Digital reading of data will function to display test result data in the form of numbers for air temperature, temperature, and refrigerant pressure in the air conditioning machine (AC). The study was conducted in a room with a size of 4 x 5 x 2.5 meters, and using LG AC with a compressor power of 1 PK. Based on the test results, changes in temperature that occur at each point of the performance of the air conditioning machine and heat absorption affect the temperature changes of each cooling machine performance, namely the use of 60 Psi of 23.9 C for 70 Psi of 24.8 C and 80 Psi is 22.1 C. Then changes to heat absorption by the condenser and evaporator are at a refrigerant pressure of 60 Psi of 171.6 kJ/s for 70 Psi of 201.1 kJ/s and 80 Psi of 215.3 kJ/s. And the heat absorption that occurs in the evaporator with a pressure of 60 Psi is 143.3 kJ/s for 70 Psi of 161.6 kJ/s and 80 Psi is 172.2 kJ/s. The resulting refrigerant flow rate and compressor power, for the refrigerant flow rate, affect the changes that occur in the use of 60 Psi of 0.003 kg/s, for 70 Psi of 0.004 kg/s, and 80 Psi of 0.005 kg/s. Then for the compressor power at the use of 60 Psi of 0.446 kW, for 70 Psi of 0.521 kW, and 80 Psi of 0.611 kW. The refrigerant flow rate value of the refrigeration machine performance test tool or COP produced at a refrigerant pressure of 60 Psi is 3.26 for 70 Psi, namely 4.45 and 80 Psi is 5.11.

Abstract

Heat Exhanger Service Unit H101/08490 P.A Hilton Ltd that use for heat transfer experiment has a weakness because the water flow from the unit after taking heat will directly enter the storage tank, still have a high temperature  ( >33oC ). The use of practicum equipment for a experiment with a long enough duration will cause the cooling water are used have a high temperature and be ineffective for the heat exchanger cooling process. The purpose of making a Cooling Tower Type Heat Dissipator Model for Heat Exhanger Service Unit H101/08490  P.A Hilton Ltd so that the cooling water used to carry out the practicum will be maintained at a temperature of 28oC-33oC. Maintaining the stability of the cooling water temperature is expected to produce data that does not vary too much and can be done in a fairly long data collection range. The results of the performance and effectiveness test of cooling tower cooling show that the temperature increase is only 4oC for 3 hours of testing and the cooling effectiveness increases and is relatively constant during the test time. This shows that the cooling system with a cooling tower can be used as a supporting medium for heat exchanger practicum in the Mechanical Engineering department.

Abstract

The potential of natural resources in the form of water energy is a renewable natural resource that is often used because it does not damage the environment and can be used continuously. This water flow has two types, namely laminar flow and turbulent flow, the forces generated from these two flows are also different. Turbulent flow tends to produce a greater force and can lift object masses better than laminar flow. Therefore, a vortex turbine has emerged which utilizes turbulent flow as a waterwheel drive, by directing laminar flow towards the cross section and converting it into turbulent flow by utilizing the force of gravity and The cross-sectional shape forms a whirlpool that can move a waterwheel and turn a turbine. The number of blades is very influential on the performance generated from the vortex turbine and affects the resulting output, be it voltage, current, rotational speed, torque and efficiency. In this study, the best results were shown on blades with a total of 6, at a rotational speed of 141.3 rpm; at the voltage shows the result of 0.28 volts; at current it produces 44 mA; at Torque (Nm) 0.22 Nm; and the efficiency is 76.5%.

Abstract

Rice quaker is a traditional culinary still made manually. Efforts to improve the rice quaker production process have been carried out by build a prototype of rice quaker flattening machine. The machine has a weakness because it is not equipped with a rationing system that can adjust the flattening capacity. Based on these problems, further research was carried out with designing and testing the rationing system on the rice quaker flattening machine. The stages of the research are to design the shape, create a rationing system, conduct testing and analyze the results. The independent variables of the study were the number of spaces and the rotational speed of the rationer. The independent variables of the study were the capacity and level of material damage. The rationing system has dimensions of 30 cm x 20 cm x 95.5 cm, weight 12 kg, use pulley and belt transmission system, with a 24V 120 Watt DC motor drive system. The test results at the rotation speed 50-300 rpm did not find any damage to the test material. The damage was found when the rotational speed reached 350 rpm. The rationing system prioritizes the stability of the output material over the capacity. Based on the test results, the recommended rotational speed of the rationing system is 200-300 rpm with the recommended number of rationing chambers of 10. At this recommendation value, the capacity obtained is 83,61 – 92,83 kg/hour.
