Abstract

Kemiri (Aleurites moluccana Willd.) merupakan salah satu komoditi Hasil Hutan Bukan Kayu (HHBK) di Kecamatan Batulanteh, Sumbawa, Nusa Tenggara Barat, dengan luas lahan pada tahun 2015 sebesar 595,7 ha dan total produksi sebesar 285,17 ton (BPS, 2017). Penanganan pasca panen dan pengolahan kemiri masih dilakukan secara tradisional yaitu dimulai dari pengeringan dan pemecahan kemiri. Proses pengeringan biji kemiri dengan menggunakan sinar matahari langsung membutuhkan waktu 1-7 hari, sedangkan kapasitas pengupasan kulit secara tradisional sebesar 5-6 kg per hari. Permintaan yang tinggi dengan produksi kemiri yang rendah mengakibatkan efisiensi usaha menjadi rendah. Sehingga dibutuhkan suatu alat yang mampu mengeringkan kemiri yaitu dengan Mesin Oven Kemiri Berbasis Solar Dryer (MASKIRI-BSD). MASKIRI-BSD menggunakan kolektor surya yang tersusun dari plat absorber berbentuk gelombang dengan tebal 0,4 mm dengan nilai konduktivitas (k) 11,2 W/m0. Selain itu menggunakan penutup kaca bening dengan tebal 3 mm dengan kemiringan kolektor 18o. Alat ini menggunakan rangka berupa aluminium hollow dan besi siku. MASKIRI-BSD dapat menghasilkan rata-rata T out sebesar 82.01oC dari T in sebesar 360C sehingga, pengeringan kemiri hanya berlangsung selama 1,5-2 hari, hal ini lebih efektif dan efisien dibandingkan dengan pengeringan tradisional. Penggunaan MASKIRI-BSD juga mempercepat tingkat titik impas yang diperoleh, yaitu hanya dalam waktu 3 jam atau 0,14 kali pengeringan, sehingga pengusaha lebih cepat mendapatkan laba.

Abstract

The needs of clean water is especially increased for the living in coastal. Because of that, a simple equipment and low cost operation is needed. Distillation is a method to convert sea water to fresh water by using solar energy. Various research on absorbent plate solar still has been done to increase productivity and efficiency of distillation. In the study, fins absorbent plate was tested with iron ore grain size variation of 0,125 cm, 0,250 cm and flat absorbent plate with iron ore grain size variation of 0,125 cm. The volume of salt water in the basin is also varied of 1, 2, and 4 liters. The results shown that the fin absorbent plate with iron ore size of 0.125 cm and the volume of 1 liter have the highest freshwater productivity and efficiency of 3,7 l/m day and53,55%, respectively. The daily sun radiation of 16,071 MJ/m .day. The quality of resulted fresh water has fulfilled the standard for drinking water, hence it is consumable.

Abstract

Indonesia one of the plants that leaves and seeds grow has many useful benefits for human life, namely candlenut. The post-harvest handling of candlenut at the farm level it is generally still done traditionally where candlenut is drying on the floor or by direct exposure to solar radiation. They need approximately 7-9 days to get the appropriate drying results. Candlenut drying is influenced by the intensity of solar radiation on temperature and drying time according to the required hazelnut content. the dry hazelnut can use solar radiation power that is solar dryer. Absorbent plate is one component that is very important because it functions to absorb the intensity of solar radiation and convert it into heat energy and move it to the workpiece (candlenut) above it. In this study, testing was done on variations of the absorbent plates of zinc, aluminum and iron as well as variations in the thickness of the absorbent plates. Data collection starts at 09:00 until 15:00 WITA in sunny weather conditions. The results showed that the aluminum absorbent plate with a thickness of 0.04 mm was more effective and efficient in drying the candlenut to increase the productivity of the candlenut. The highest absorbent plate temperature and drying time were found on the aluminum absorbent plate with a thickness of 0.4 mm that is 72.36 oC and a drying time of 6 hours and meets the standard of moisture content of candlenut solution, which is 5.3%.

Abstract

Seaweed is one of the marine commodities that has high economic value and benefits for humans, because seaweed can be processed into basic food ingredients and various types of products such as seaweed lunkhead, gelatin, cosmetic medicines and so on. The post-harvest handling process for the Papuan community, Kec. Taliwang, West Sumbawa Regency (NTB) is still done traditionally so natural drying usually takes a long time because the temperature and energy depend on sunlight. This will lead to a decline in the quality of seaweed products because temperature and energy depend on sunlight. One of the efforts to improve the quality of seaweed production is to reduce the water content, the maximum water content limit, which meets SNI 25% - 50%. In this study, four forms of cover were used, namely the cover form of a single oblique solar dryer, the cover form of the taper solar dryer, the cover form of the double slanted solar dryer, the cover form of the rectangular prism solar dryer. The peak drying rate lies on a double sloping cover of 0.40 g / minute, a taper cover of 0.37 g / minute, a rectangular prism cover of 0.34 g / minute and a single sloping cover of 0.30 g / minute. The hot peaks that are useful are located on a double sloping cover of 3.82 Watt, a taper cover of 2.80 Watt, a rectangular prism cover of 2.09 Watt and a single cover of 0.46 Watt. The peak of efficiency lies in the double sloping cover of 8.57%, taper cover of 6.28%, rectangular prism cover of 4.69% and single sloping cover of 2.28%. The peak of seaweed residual water content lies on a double sloping cover of 13.21%, a taper cover of 19.61%, a rectangular prism cover of 25.73 and a double sloping cover of 27.75%. This shows that drying using double sloping covers is more effective and efficient, so it can accelerate the drying rate and can increase the selling price of seaweed for seaweed farmers in Kertasari Village, Taliwang District, West Sumbawa (NTB).

Abstract

Candlenut is a spice that is used as an ingredient in the manufacturing process of the food and cosmetic industry, the obstacles faced in breaking the candlenut shell are that the time and energy required is still too large so that the splitting of the candlenut shell is less efficient and there are still many farmers who still use traditional candlenut crackers. with a driving force in the form of human power. In addition, the results of the quality of the candlenut cracking are not good because there are still many broken hazelnut seeds after the process of breaking the candlenut shell. These constraints add to the time, cost and effort in the process of breaking candlenut manually. From some of the constraints that have been described, there is an idea to conduct research to find out how the rotation of the candlenut crusher influences the pressure according to the needs and optimizes the rotation variation of the candlenut crusher to produce whole candlenuts. The research method used is rotational variation (10 RPM, 20 RPM, and 27 RPM) to pressure 24.928 /????2, 21.952 /????2 and 19.286 /????2 with three treatments and each treatment combination was repeated three times. The parameters of this research are the percentage of whole, split, crushed and unbroken candlenut. The results of this study indicate that variations in rotation and pressure affect the percentage yield of candlenut seeds. The average value of the right rotation to break candlenut seeds with a beating pully A is 20 rpm with a pressure of 24.928 N/m2 to get an average of 60% intact, 20% halved, 0% crushed and 20% unbroken. At the right rotation of the pulley B, which is at 20 Rpm with a pressure of 21.952 N/m2, the average value of breaking is 60%, intact is 60%, split is 30%, destroyed is 0% and does not break is 10%. Meanwhile, at a pressure of 19.286 N/m2 for a rotation of 20 Rpm, the average value of broken, 50% intact, 0% halved, 20% crushed and 30% unbroken.

Abstract

In 2015, Sumbawa Regency produced a total of 736,127 tons of fish catches (Sumbawa Regency Marine and Fisheries Service, 2019). The amount of fish production according to the District in Sumbawa Regency in 2015, which produced the most fish, was in Plampang district with a total of 100,880 tons. This research aims to determine the effect of the shape of the heat-absorbing plate on the drying rate and heat which is useful for anchovies based on LPG gas. The variables used are the shape of the wave plate, triangle and flat and the air blown by the fan from the outside at a speed of 0.5 m/s, 1 m /s and 1.5 m/s. The results obtained in this study are the highest useful heat is 21.25 watts at a speed of 0.5 m/s. While the lowest useful heat is a flat heat absorbing plate, which is 2.83 watts. The best drying rate was found on the corrugated plate which was 1.84 g/minute and the lowest was on the flat plate which was 1.08 g/minute. The water content of dried anchovy was 17.1 % and the most on the flat plate was 80.05%.

Abstract

Candlenut is one of the crops that grow in Indonesia. In Batu Dulang village Batulante sub-district Sumbawa there are candlenut entrepreneurs whose process of breaking candlenut seeds is still manual, person can break 14 – 17 kg/day of candlenut. This reseach was aimed to examine the influence of distance and dimension of candlenut and to increase the performance machines at nutcracker . This reseach was conducted in November to December 2020 at workshop engineering study program, faculty of technique, Sumbawa university. The method used was a case study striking distance (18 mm, 20 mm, 22 mm) small Candlenut dimensions, 18mm to 25 mm, large Candlenut dimension 26 mm to 35 mm, with three levels of treatment and each treatment combination was striking distance of dimensions three time. The parameters of this study ware the parcentage of the whole core, parcentage of split halves, parcentage of core broken and parcentage of seeds escaped. The results of this study indicate that the treatment striking distance of dimensions has a significant effect on percentage of crushed core and percentage of seeds escaped. The highest of the intact core wa found at a small Candlenut dimensions striking distance 18 mm 60%, parcentage of split halves of 18 mm 20%, parcentage of 20 mm 10% core broken and parcentage of 22 mm 60% seeds escaped. The highest of the intact core wa found at a larges Candlenut dimensions striking distance 20 mm 53,33% parcentage of split halves of 18 mm yaitu 30% parcentage of 18 mm 10%,core broken and parcentage of 22 mm 60% seeds escaped.

Abstract

Di beberapa daerah di Indonesia seperti Kabupaten Sumbawa, masih memiliki wilayah terpencil yang jauh dari jaringan listrik nasional, jaringan irigasi pertanian dan perusahaan daerah air minum, tetapi memiliki kelebihan yaitu tersedianya sumber air tanah (air sumur) dengan kedalaman sumur antara 3 m sampai 9 m. Namun untuk mengangkat air sumur dibutuhkan suatu sistem pemompaan, seperti pompa berpenggerak motor bakar, motor listrik atau memanfaatkan sumber energi terbarukan seperti turbin angin sudu jamak yang di gerakkan secara mekanik. Sudu dihubungkan dengan poros dan mekanisme engkol ditempatkan di ujung poros. Ketika sudu berputar secara otomatis mekanisme engkol juga akan berputar. Karena pengaturan eksentrik poros, gerakan putaran mekanisme engkol diubah menjadi gerakan linier yang diteruskan ke batang piston pompa, sehingga proses pemompaan akan berlangsung secara terus menerus sesuai dengan ketersediaan dan kecepatan angin. Memanfaatkan turbin angin sebagai penggerak pompa air bisa dilakukan karena letak geografis Kabupaten Sumbawa yang memiliki garis pantai cukup panjang dengan kecepatan angin di atas 2,3 m/detik. Pada penelitian ini telah dirancang pompa air model piston (pompa air positive displacement) dengan penggerak turbin angin sudu jamak, diameter silinder pompa 50,80 mm, panjang langkah pompa 127 mm, ketinggian (head) pemompaan 9 m pada kecepatan angin 2,8 m/detik. Dari hasil perancangan diketahui aliran air rata-rata efektif yaitu 7,8 m3/hari dan torsi untuk memulai pemompaan yaitu 11,21 Nm.

Abstract

Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana Wild) is an important versatile plant in Indonesia. Batulanteh Subdistrict, Batu Dulang Village is the highest candlenut producer in Sumbawa Regency, NTB with a land area of 595.7 ha and total production of 285.17 tons. Post-harvest candlenut handling at the farmer's level is still done traditionally where drying candlenuts on the floor or para-finished needs to be done with solar dryers. In this research, testing on absorbent plates is flat and corrugated as well as natural drying. The results showed that the corrugated heat absorber plate had the highest temperature average of 86.84 oC with a drying time of 8 hours with the amount of hazelnut water content of 6.12%. Making zinc absorbent plates is more effective and efficient used to dry candlenut in increasing the production of candlenuts. Key words: Candlenut, solar dryer, absorbent plate, Candlenut water content

Abstract

Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana Willd) has various benefits and has high economic value. Candlenut seeds are widely used by the community as cooking spices, for cosmetic purposes, until the oil is taken for industrial purposes. So far, the process of processing candlenut seeds carried out by candlenut entrepreneurs in Batulanteh District, Batu Dulang Village, Sumbawa Regency is still simple, namely by drying under direct sunlight and using a solar dryer. This causes the drying process of candlenut seeds to take quite a long time. To increase the drying time of candlenut seeds, further research is needed on the development of a candlenut drying machine. This research is a study on the development of a candlenut drying machine by comparing variations in the type and thickness of the insulator on the wall surface of the candlenut drying room. The results of the study with a time of 60 minutes with a temperature of 80°C and a thickness of 6 mm showed that the use of aluminum foil, glasswool, and stryfoam insulators can accelerate the evaporation of hazelnut moisture content with values of 3%, 2%, and 2%, respectively.
