Abstract

Palm fruit (Arenga pinnata) contains galactomannan which has the potential as an antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 20,45 ppm. This study aims to produce cream dosage forms with antioxidant activity using the scaverry DPPH radical scavenger method from arenga pinnata water extract. Palm fruit water extract is formulated in cream form with variations in the concentration of stearic acid and triethanolamine emulgators in F1 (6:4), F2 (7:3), and F3 (8:2). Evaluation of physical stability includes organoleptic testing, homogeneity, pH, emulsion type, viscosity and type of flow carried out before and after forced conditions. In the statistical analysis of viscosity, the results of each formula showed no significant changes both before and after the conditions were forced. The results of the study obtained formula 2 and formula 3 has optimal stability. The stable formula was then tested for antioxidants using the DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenger method. Formula 2 and formula 3 each yield a DPPH radical inhibition percentage of 65% and 48.04%.

Abstract

In this study, three formulas gel with varying polyvinyl alcohol   9%, 9,5%, and 10%. Then do the evaluation of physical stability by organoleptic examination of the test parameters, measurements of viscosity, yield value determination  and pH determination before and after accelarated storage. The results obtained in the second organoleptic examination of the gel formula does not change the color, smeel and consistency before and after accelerated storage. In the viscosity measurements obtained results in the formula A  were not significantly different before and after accelerated storage. Results of statistical analysis of the value of yield showed that the formula A were not significantly different before and accelerated storage. In rheogram formula A have the curves that coincide, formula B and C have seen that the curve is not too close together  before and after accelerated storage. In pH determination, formula A have neutral pH  of 6,9,  formula B and C have pH of 6,8, so it can be concluted that two stocks is stable, but their stability is the most optimal formula A (concentration 9 %). Abstract

A study of the dissolution rate of paracetamol tablets using polysorbate 80 as wetting agent had been investigated. The aim of this investigation  is to determine  concentration of polysorbate 80 should be added to the formula to produced the tablet with the fastest dissolution rate.   The paracetamol tablets were prepared by wet granulation methods using polysorbate 80 with various concentration,   1%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 9% respectively. The tablet without polysorbate 80 was also prepared for comparison. The tablets had been evaluated with uniform size, uniform weight, hardness, disintegration time and the dissolution test.               The dissolution test of  tablet in phosphate buffer pH 5.8  using the stirring paddle  with rotation speed at 50 rpm at the temperature 37 ± 0.5°C. The release of paracetamol every time appointed well measured by UV spectrophotometer at wave length 242 nm and the concetration determinated with standard curve.            The evaluation of tablets showed that no one formula  suitable with requires, the hardness test only  formula I suitable with requires and the disintegration time all of the tablet suitable with requires. The result of statistical with complete random form method show the added of polysorbate 80 in the parasetamol tablets formula increase dissolution of paracetamol. The analysis efficiency dissolution using Duncan?s method on data?s showed that the concentration 3% of polysorbate 80 (formula III) give significant effect in increasing the dissolution rate of tablets ( a = 0.05 ).Key word : Polisorbat 80, Dissolition, Paracetamol

Abstract

Periodontal disease is a disease of inflammation of the tissues around the tooth that originated from inflammatory gingival and continues to the periodontal structures other periodontal ligament and cementum, and the alveolar bone. Loosening of the teeth is one of the symptoms of periodontal disease characterized by loss of bonding as well as vertical bone damage. Loosening can be caused by damage to the bone that supports the teeth, trauma from occlusion, and the presence of inflammation of the gingiva to the expansion of the network of supporters who are more patologik and processes in the jaw. Purpose: one of the ways to control and stabilize the loosening of the teeth is splinting. Splinting is indicated on the State loosening teeth degree 3 with severe bone damage. Literature review: Periodontal splint is a tool that can be used for stabilization or loosening of teeth that immobilisasi experience. Splint consists of temporary and permanent splint splint. Indication temporary splint is for stabilization of teeth rocking before and during therapy with the goal to reduce the peridontal trauma at the time of care and speed up the healing process, such as the ligature wire splint. Discharging permanent splint is part of this phase of the restoration or reconstruction phases of periodontal care. Permanent Splint is extremely limited usage. Used when actually used to increase the stability of pressure oklusal. Abstract

Kayu jawa plants are one type of traditional plant that is often used to treat wounds, both internal and external wounds. This plant has been shown to have anti-microbial, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Flavonoid compounds have anti-inflammatory activity by protecting erythrocyte membranes against membrane damage causing hemolysis because flavonoids can inhibit inflammatory mediators and free radicals. This study aims to determine the effect of the administration of simple patch from Kayu Jawa leaves extract (Lannea coromandelica Houtt. (Merr.)) On wound healing in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) by looking at the extent of the wound closure and changes in wound morphology compared to controls. This study used a laboratory experimental method with 25 rats as test animals divided into 5 treatment groups, namely 3 treatment groups (simple patch from 2.5% kayu jawa leaves extract, simple patch from 5% kayu jawa leaves extract, and simple patch from 10% kayu jawa leaves extract), 1 positive control group (simple patch from povidone iodine) and 1 negative control group (simple patch without kayu jawa leaves extract). The conclusions of the study was the administration of 5% Kayu Jawa leaves extract gave the best effect in accelerating wound healing.
