Abstract

The herb Daun sendok (Plantago mayor L.) traditionally used by people as medicine for treatment of diarrhea. The plants spread widely in south sulawesi area as decoratif herb so that is easy earning and developed as antidiarrhea medicine from natural product. The research of antidiarrhea with transit intestinal method on mices (Mus musculus). The mices is grouped by rawu method to five group. Group I is a control by NaCl fisiologis,  group II is a comparator by Loperamid-HCl, group III, IV, and V as examination each 1%, 1,5%, dan 2%. The research conclude that ekstract with concentration 2 % having activity is more potent than the loperamid-HCl, concentration 1,5% has equal activity with the loperamid-HCl and concentration 1% having below activity than the loperamid-HCl.Key words: Plantago mayor L, Antidiarrhea, Loperamid-HCl

Abstract

Research about the micribiological analyze has been of some soys milk without brand marketed in Maros, South Sulawesi. The research to be compared with the requirements that have been determined by the director-general of the POM. The research conducted by determining the number plate total (ALT) bacteria, Total Plate Number (ALT) moulds as well as the presence of microbial pathogens in some soys milk without brand. The research methods using Standard Plate Count (SPC) to calculate the total amount of bacteria and mold, as wel as the identification method to determine the number of pathogenic bacteria. The results of this study indicating that the sample of C, E and H microbial has fulfilled the requirements of soy milk pathogenic bacteria test of Coliform (-), Salmonella sp (-), Staphylococcus aureus (-) and Bacillus cereus (-). Sample C, E and H has fulfilled the requiremqnts of ALT bacteria and sample C has fulfilled the requiremqnts of ALT moulds. But the E dan H sample have has not fulfilled the requirements.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of patient satisfaction on the quality of pharmacy service at Labiang Baji hospitals pharmacy Makassar. Has conducted researche about relations implementation of pharmaceutical at the Labuang Baji Baji Hospital Pharmacy Makassar with the level of patient satisfaction.Data from Labuang Baji Hospital Pharmacy from of data about the facility, and drug information service. While filling in the form of the questionnaire. There are 100 respondents who filled in the questionnaire. Respondents were taken using a method accidental. The result showed that existing facilities in inadequate wedge Labuang pharmacies, drug information service has not been fully implemented but the distribution of drug has done well. Meanwhile, from questionnaires completed by patient/families of patients obtained results that the quality of pharmaceutical services in hospital LB was satisfactory, with a value of SME (Society Satisfaction Index ) is 74.70975 to obtain the quality of service B, and categorize the performance of service units in good/satisfactory.Key Word : pharmacy services, respondents, questionnaires

Abstract

Lipstick is a lip cosmetic that almost every day is used by the most women. Lipstick should be safe and does not contain hazardous materials as it can go ingested with food or drink consumed. One of hazardous contaminants in lipstick is contained heavy metals, such as lead and mercury. Based on these considerations, the cosmetic lipstick should be safe and do not contain harmful ingredients, One of the parameters to determine the lipstick cosmetics are safe or not from the content of the metals in contained. To determine the metals Pb and Hg contamination in cosmetics lipsticks do research by doing destruction samples and proceed with the analysis of the metal content using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results showedthat inallfour samplesstudiedlipstickall containmercury(Hg) levelseachwithA0.0460 µg/g, B0.0425 µg/g, C0.0345 µg/g, andD0,0431 µg/g, as wellasfor lead(Pb) levelseachwithA6.1628 µg/g, B3.5041 µg/g, C56.6496 µg/g, andD6.0324 µg/g.

Abstract

Inflammation is body response to prevent infection or tissue damage caused toxin or microbe in the body. Inflammation is usually treated with drugs known as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammation drugs). However, the treatment with NSAID drugs often has side effects such as stomach irritation. Lately, the researchers are very aggressively finding an alternative therapy in treating inflammation by using medical herbal. The purpose of this study was to determine an anti-inflammatory activity of jackfruit leaves (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.)  in male rats. Animal models were made by induced lambda carrageenan by intraplantar. This study consist of 4 groups: negative control (Na-CMC), methylprednisolone dose 45 mg / kg, methanol extract of jackfruit leaves (EMDN) doses 75 mg / kg and 150 mg / kg. Parameters were tested by measuring the volume of feet for 8 hours after induction of carrageenan using the plethysmometer. The results showed that the methanol extract of jackfruit leaves (EMDN) dose of 150 mg/kgbw has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting oedema in rats with 55.4% better than methanol extract of jackfruit leaves (EMDN) dose of 75 mg/kgbw with 23.9%.

Abstract

The objective was to study the effect of natural pure honey on the immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody activity against sheep red blood cells (SRBCs) antigen ini male rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) using the hemoagglutination method. Three different honey products with 2,1 ml/kg body weight given orally twice a day for 5 days. Then each animal was injected intraperitoneally with 2,8 ml of 2% SRBCs. At day 7 after the immunization, serum were collected from the blood samples to know which highest dilution value of rabbit serum still showing agglutination reaction. The result of the the statistical analysis using the Complete Random Device ( CRD) method and than continued with the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) method shows that the administration of three different honey products  significantly increase Immunoglobulin M (IgM) activity against SRBCs. Key words : Honey, Hemaglutination, Rabbit

Abstract

Has conducted research of antioxidant activity from kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura Linn) using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazil) and FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power). Kersen leaves extracted by maceration using ethanol 70%. Phytochemical identification of kersen leaves contain phenolic, flavonoids and saponins compounds. The test results of antioxidant activity using DPPH method with series concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 ppm obtain IC50 value 6.8249 ug / ml. Testing of the ethanol extract of antioxidants obtained by FRAP method IC50 83,149 µM. Based on these data the ethanol extract of kersen leaves has good antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Free radicals can cause several diseases. Antioxidants are the compounds that can reduce free radicals in the human body. Kaffir lime leaves contain phenolic and flavonoids compounds which have antioxidant activity. This research aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity and to determine total phenolic contents of fraction n-hexane and chloroform from kaffir lime leaves. The antioxidant activity was determined by radical scavenging assay using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical. The total phenolic content was determined by the spectrophotometric method. The results showed that the antioxidant activity of chloroform fraction (IC50: 302.91 ± 0.28 µg / mL) was higher than the n-hexane fraction (IC50: 714,25±1,97 µg /mL),but the antioxidant activity was lower than vitamin C (IC50: 3,28 ±0,12 µg /mL). The total phenolic content of chloroform fraction (4.73±0,33% w/w EAG) was higher than the n-hexane fraction (3,18 ± 0,31% w/w EAG).

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian efek penghambatan enzim xantin oksidase oleh infus daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.)  5% pada hewan percobaan kelinci (Oryctolagus cuniculus) yang diberikan secara oral dengan maksud untuk mengetahui efek penghambatan enzim xantin oksidase sebagai pembanding (kontrol positif) digunakan allopurinol dosis 876 dan larutan kofein dosis 437,5 mg sebagai kontrol negatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan 9 ekor kelinci yang terbagi 3 kelompok yakni kelompok kontrol negatif diberikan air, pembanding diberikan allopurinol dan perlakuan diberikan infus dau kemangi 5% masing-masing secara oral sekali selama 5 hari pada hari ke-6 masing-masing kelompok diberikan larutran kofein kemudian dilakukan pengambilan darah pada menit 15, 30, 45, 60 ,90, 120, 140 ,dan 240. Dan supernatan yang telah dipisahkan diukur kadar kofeinnya pada spektrofotometer. Hasil pengamatan  menunjukkan bahwa infus daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) 5% tidak menghambat kerja enzim xantin oksidase karena nilai AUC yang lebih rendah dari pada kontrol negatif dan pembanding.

Abstract

Background : Email is the most outer layer of the teeth, harder compared with the layer below which is dentin. Email hardness  is a physical conditions that belongs of the part of dental, it’s called email that can be measured using Vicker Hardness Tester by Kg/mm. Soft drink and isotonic is consisting of various types of a acids that lower of pH in oral cavity.  Objective : To know the difference of email hardness which is soaked in soft drink and isotonik.Method : Teeth post extraction, then soaked in to soft drink and isotonik for 2 hours. After that measured email hardness using Vicker Hardness Tester.Result : Based on Independent Sample T-test result the difference of email hardness which is soaked in soft drink and isotonic in Makassar 2017 obtained value of soft drink decreased of the email hardness  with value p = 0,662. Conclusion : Showed there’s a difference email hardness which is soaked in soft drink and isotonic, while the result of email hardness decreased between soft drink and isotonic there’s no significant difference.
