Abstract

Testing activity sun screen of several species from family Zingiberaceae with a spectrophotometric method have been. Study purpose is to obtain data on the sunscreen activity of ginger extract Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM and their combination with the parameters of % transmission of erythema, % transmission of pigmentation and SPF. The method used an experimental laboratory. Evaluation of the activity of ethanol extract of Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM made by maceration method using 70% ethanol. The test is based on the ability of the absorb the rays ultraviolet. Research carried out by the respective concentrations of ethanol extract of Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM of 200 ppm , 400 ppm , 600 ppm, 800 ppm and 1000 ppm. Based on percent transmission of erythema and percent transmission of pigmentation at a concentration of 1000 ppm, respectively ethanol extract Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var . Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM could be used as a sunscreen but still weak to be used as sunscreen ingredients. The result showed that combined Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM at a concentration of 500 ppm obtained percentage value of 1% transmission of erythema and 3,9% of pigmentatied transmission and categories as sunblock with SPF value is 50 protection.

Abstract

Research was conducted to determine the caffeine content in cocoa beans from West Sulawesi North Mamuju with UV-VIS spectrophotometric method at a wavelength of 272 nm. This study used two examples of types of Criollo cocoa and Forastero taken from North Mamuju. Qualitative analysis using mureksid reaction that produces the color purple and brown precipitate region contribute iodide reaction in which in accordance with the reaction on caffeine standard. Analysis of caffeine content was conducted using ultraviolet spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 272 nm and obtained levels - average caffeine for example A  : 4,329mg/0,05g and B: 4,186mg/0,05g.Key words : .Analysis, caffeine, Theobroma cacao L, UV-VIS spectrophotometric.

Abstract

Analysis of Protein Levels In Sago Worm (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) East Halmahera, North Maluku regency with Kjeldahl Method Has done research on the analysis of protein content in sago (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) from East Halmahera in North Maluku kjeldahl method. This study aims to obtain scientific data about the protein content in sago (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus).This research includes testing levels  of total nitrogen and non protein nitrogen method kjeldahl on sago(Rhynchophorus ferrugineus). Research results showed that the protein content in sago (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) Originof East Halmahera in North Maluku is 4.0575 %.Key words : Protein, Ulat Sagu.

Abstract

A quantitative structure activity relationship study on a series of N-alkyl imidazole analogues using combination of various atomic descriptors and molecular descriptors have been investigated. The research was aimed to obtain mathematic equation Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship of N-alkyl Imidazole analougues as antibacterial agents at bacteria Staphilococcus aureus with electronic parameters used semiempiric Austin Model 1 (AM1) method  .Several statistical expressions were developed using stepwise multiple liner regression analysis. The best quantitative structure activity relationship models were further validated by leave-one-out method of cross-validation. The study revealed that the atomic net charges of C2&C3,E-Homo,E-lumo,dipole moment (µ),and Total Energy (ET) contributed positively, and atomic net charges of C1,N1,&N2,Binding Energy (Eb),RMS Gradient (RMS), and Elecrtonic Energy (Ee)  contributed negatively. The quantitative structure activity relationship study provides important structural insights in designing of potent antibacterial agents. Several alternative models which have possibility to express the correlation betwen biological activity and electronic parameters, ”The best model” is represented by a linear function of activity versus atomic net charges of C2&C3 and E-Homo,E-lumo,dipole moment (µ),and Total Energy (Ee) is axpressed by:Log(1/C) = 114,614 (±28,461) + 505,362 (±149,739) qC2 +  247,641(±47,025)qC3 + 0,819(±0,379) E-Homo + 93,404 (±25,997)E-Lumo + -24,982(±6,066)µ + -0,002(±0,000).ET The cross validation analisys give minimal value of PRESS = 106,231and SEP = 3,435Key Words : QSAR, antibacterial, n-alkyl imidazole, Cross Validation Methods

Abstract

A research had been done on antifungal activity of papaya leaf ekstract (Carica papaya L.) and the aim was to determine the antifungal activity and inhibitory potency. The research was started by screening  test using Candida albicans. Results showed  that the papayaleaf ekstract inhibited Candida albicans. The research was continued by Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) test by liquid dilution method in Potato Dekstrosa Broth medium toward, Candida albicans in concentration of MIC 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Result showed that papaya leaf ekstract (Carica papaya L.) has antifungal activity wich was indicated by the inhibitory zone diameter in concentration of 10%, 15%, and 20% respectively on Candida albicans.

Abstract

In general, anti-inflammatory drugs that currently available have great side effects. One of plant that suspected have anti-inflammatory effect is Kayu Jawa (Lannea coromandelic (Houtt). Merr). Objective of this research is to determine anti-inflammatory effect and effective concentration from extract ethanol Kayu Jawa leaves. First treatment was start with rats group divided into 5 groups that initial foot volume have been measured, then 0.3 mL of 1% lambda carrageenan solution injected to rat’s left foot as inducer, then foot volume measured again. Furthermore, rat groups were given oral induction,  1st group were given NaCMC as control group, 2nd group were given Diclofenac Sodium as drugs control group, then 3rd, 4th, and 5th as test group were given ethanol extract of Kayu Jawa leaves 75 mg/kgBW,  150 mg/kgBW, and 300 mg/kgBW. Foot volume measured again using plestimometer every 1 hour for 5 hours. The result showed that with 75 mg/kgBW, 150 mg/kgBW dan 300 mg/kgBW of ethanol extract Kayu Jawa leaves have ability to reduce rat’s foots volume that induce with carrageenan. Ethanol extract of Kayu Jawa leaves with dosage 300 mg/kgBW have bigger percentage of reducing rat’s foots volume (56.30%) than the other groups.

Abstract

Seaweed are one of resource foreign exchange of state and earning source for coastal area society. Besides can be used direct upon which food, some result processing of seaweed like gelatinous, carrageenan and alginate represent the compound which important enough in industry. A lot of research proving that seaweed is substance of food which important, like some among other thing is anticancer, antioxidant, preventing cardiovascular, and as diet food. As for content of chemistry compound anticipated by a sharing to cause the effect is compound polyphenol. Referring to above the mentioned, and to know furthermore hit the content polyphenol in Eucheuma sp seaweed, is hence done by analysis research polyphenol in Eucheuma sp seaweed. This research benefit is to give the erudite evidence and information about existence of content polyphenol of Eucheuma sp seaweed. This research is done by using method of spectrofotometric UV-Visible and as reagent used by Folin Ciocalteu and Na2CO3 yield the blue colour, then read by absorbance at 670 nm. As standard condensation used by acid tannat with the concentration 0,25; 0,5; 1,0; 2,0; 4,0; and 8,0 ppm. From research result indicate that the Eucheuma sp seaweed contain the polyphenol with the rate polyphenol of Eucheuma sp I as much 0,054 mg/100g and Eucheuma sp II as much 0,053 mg/100g.Key Words :  Polifenol, Euchema sp and Spectrofotometri UV-Vis.

Abstract

Common purslane (Portulace Oleracea L.) has a compound of omega-3, flavonoid and ascorbic acid with the activity in decreasing triglyceride levels. This study aimed to determine the minimum dose of ethanol extract of common purslane against the decrease of triglyceride levels of obese mice. It used 18 rats fed high-calorie diet (HCD) for 30 days. The obese rats were devided into 6 groups consisting of group I of negative controls (Na.CMC ), group II of positive control (gemfibrozil®), group III,IV,V,VI provided the ethanol extract of common purslane (EECP) with 25 mg/kgBW, 50 mg/kgBW, 75 mg/kgBW, 100 mg/kgBW. Afterwards, 14 days of therapy were given and still fed a high-calorie (HCD). The measurement of triglyceride levels is performed before induction (early). After induction , and after therapy. The data of the study were analized by percentage decrease of each test group. The result show that the EECP groups of 75 mg/kgBW was the minimum dose in lowering triglyceride levels with a decrease of 16,49 %.

Abstract

A research had been done of Yoghurt and soyghurt production from skim milk and soya milk with variation of stabilizer agent. Yoghurt is fermentation milk product made from fermentation milk uses acid lactic bacteria, soyghurt is fermentation milk product made from fermentation soya milk uses acid lactic bacteria. To get the best quality of yoghurt and soyghurt usually added stabilizer agent so that get the best consistency, viscosity and stability. The aim of this investigation is to determine influence of milk kinds and stabilizer agent at Yoghurt and soyghurt production from skim milk and soya milk. Yoghurt made by skim milk and soyghurt made by soya milk with three variation of stabilizer agent, which 0,9% gelatine, 0,9% CMC, and 0.9% caragenan. The assay were organoleptic observation, pH and viscosity measurement, % acid lactic content test, and total of acid lactic bacteria test. The assay is done after storage at 50C. Organoleptic observation is consistency, odor, and taste. pH measurement by pH’s universe paper than viscosity measurement by  brookfield viscometer with three replication, 50 rpm rates. % lactat acid content test  by alkalimetry method. And total of acid lactid bacteria test by pouring method. The investigaton result can be concluded that stabilizer agent influence consistency, viscosity and prevent of separation between solid and liquid phase at yoghurt and soyghurt. 0,9% gelatine is the best stabilizer agent at yoghurt and soyghurt prodution.Key Words :Yoghurt, Soyghurt, Skim, Stabilizer Agent

Abstract

Hyperglycemia in Diabetes can caused the excessive production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in the body that will causes oxidative  stress that tissue damage. Oxidative stress can indicated by increasing MDA levels. This research aims to know and determine the concentration ethanol extract of soursop leaves that have antioxidant activity to MDA levels in diabetic rats. 9 white rats were divided into 3 groups. All rats were induced by alloxan 110mg/Kg.BB intraperitoneally. Group I was administered with Na.CMC as a negative control, group II and III were administered with ethanol extract of soursop leaves 2,5% and 5%. Administration were given orally for 12 days orally. Examination of blood glucose and MDA levels conducted before and after the administration. MDA Assay performed with TBA method was based on reaction of MDA-TBA as measured on a spectrophotometer 532 nm wavelength. The results were analysized statistically by using randomized block design (RBD) method. Based on the research has been done, it was showed that the ethanol extract of soursop leaves can lower blood glucose levels of diabetic rats and extract with concentration of 5% has potential as an antioxidant activity that can reduce MDA levels in diabetic rat.
