Abstract

The planning and designing of Game Developer and Otaku Centre in Yogyakarta is caused by local game development industry progress in Indonesia, including in Yogyakarta, which is not followed by availabilty of supporting facilities in professional game development as well as the unavailability of game development industry existence signifier. Game developer and Otaku centre is game developers workspace and Otaku gathering space that provides game development industry supporting facilities and involves Otaku as game player and game creator. There are several design issues in planning and designing of game developer and Otaku centre, (1) how the space programming concept of game developer and Otaku centre could support the game developers activities and stimulate the emergence of creative ideas, and (2) how the building appearance concept could be a signifier of local game developers existence and game characters. The approach used in planning and designing is Camp idiomatic aesthetic by using rubic cube as analogy of game characters that composed through the process of deformation, distortion, and duplication of material, in this case are rubic cube and game characters. Design decisions obtained through the analysis process are the design of game developers workspaces, co-working areas for game developers beginners, community meeting rooms, local game marketing rooms, and entertainment areas accommodated in a building complex with monumental scale and dynamic form.

Radya Pustaka Museum Complex Realignment using Contextual Architecture approach in Surakarta caused by the rapid urban development results in the decrease of  the heritage buildings image, especially in Surakarta. Radya Pustaka Museum realignment is an attempt to preserve Radya Pustaka Museum’s existence as one of the oldest museums in Indonesia which preserves Javanese cultural existence proofs in the past. The realignment of the museum complex is conducted by maintaining the shape of Radya Pustaka Museum original building as a conservation effort in which the new object design functions as a new cultural appreciation place done by restoring and developing the function of previous existing activities which were able to accommodate all the museum’s activities and needs. The method used is architecture designing plan method approached by Contextual Architecture. Contextual Architecture is applied as an execution design method with the purpose of creating contextual environment visual harmony between the new building and it previous environment. By using this approach, the form, mass order, and façade elements in the new building are designed by not only aesthetic and contrast appearance, but also contextual to the old one. The realignment is designed in line with Surakarta City Government Planning related to tourism, education, and culture development which are expected to make Radya Pustaka Museum as one of the main representation of the historical aspect of the city and to enact the tourism in the city of Surakarta, as the City of Culture. Abstract

Abstract: Vertical Housing still become the solution of fulfilling housing needs as dense and slum settlement spread, such as in Manggarai, South Jakarta. Vertical Housing which had been built in Jakarta which had to do a fast construction sometimes ignore the social and economic factors of occupants, as well as the impact of construction to environment. Therefore, the construction of Vertical Housing has to integrate the social, economic, and environmental factor. The problem of design is how to design a form of building such as space and building façade which able to facilitate activities and occupants’ need which is affected by site conditions and social life of occupants. This Vertical Housing aims to get spaces for activities and fulfilling the needs of occupants in the present and the future, and minimizing negative impacts of construction to environment. Design methode based on the concept of Sustainable Architecture because it considers the balancing of social, economic and environmental factors. The implementation of Sustainable Architecture is done by applying five Sustainable Architecture chosen aspects, such as sustainable site and land-use, sustainable energy, sustainable material, sustainable water, and sustainable community. These design aspects of Sustainable Architecture will result some concepts such as provision of shared social and economy spaces, green open spaces, the use of durable and eco-friendly materials, building façade responds to climate, and waste treatment system.  Keywords: Economic, Environment, Social, Sustainable Architecture, Vertical Housing

Abstract

Abstract: Astronomy is a natural science that studies celestial objects and phenomena that include observation and explanation, occurs outside Earth and its atmosphere. Location of Indonesia which is at the equator enables the constellations in north sky and south sky can be observed very well. In Asia Pacific, astronomy in Indonesia is also growing and interested by many researchers from abroad. Astronomy also has relationship with aerospace engineering. Aerospace engineering studies about aircraft design. PT Dirgantara Indonesia is also the first and only one aircraft company in Southeast Asia. However, there are obstacles in these potentials, as in Indonesia, astronomy formal education is only at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Besides, facilities and infrastructures to study astronomy are still concentrated in Java. Yogyakarta is known as “Kota Pelajar” where the dynamics of education and tourism are strong enough to make it possible to deliver a High School of Astronomy and Aerospace, precisely in Gunungkidul Regency. Gunungkidul have ecological conditions that are still green and far away from the word "metropolitan" so as can be a place to facilitate astronomical observation. From this location, Sustainable Architecture becomes an approach that combines the aspects of efficiency, conservation, and durability that can be applied to the building and the environment. The efficiency is applied in energy use, particularly in the use of sun light and wind direction, as well as the efficiency of land use, so that not all of the site is covered by buildings that can provide green open space. On the conservation aspect is closely linked to sustainable development, especially in the use of natural resources. Conservation will keep the natural resources remain on a sustainable point. Durability is the resistance of a building and environment. In this case, how to make the building can last a long time because of the threat around the environment is minimized. It begins from site planning, the use of land that is not harmful to the building and surrounding communities. Keywords: aerospace, astronomy, education, Gunungkidul, high school, sustainable architecture.

Abstract

One of the cities in Indonesia that has problems with school dropout children due to economic problems is Surakarta City. By 2015, 1.54% of workers in this city are teenagers and as many as 6.08% of the population are unemployed (Ermawati, 2015). In fact, the world has become more open and the competition both in the field of economy and employment becomes increasingly tight. One solution to solve the problem is with non formal education. Non-formal education serves as a substitute or additional education that can increase both academic and life skills. Another problem that arises is how to improve motivation and stimuli in processing learning for those who drop out of school. This can be achieved by applying the concept of environmental psychology to the design of educational facilities. By using the concept of environmental psychology, the learning activities can run effectively and learners become more creative and innovative. Non formal education system provided at this education center are life skills training, pursuing equalization packages and tutoring. Each of these activities has its own support rooms such as theory classrooms, practice spaces, library, studio and auditorium which each room apply the concept of environmental psychology in its design.
