Abstract

This article examines the issue of knowledge dichotomy in Indonesian Islamic education, which has persisted for centuries and become the root cause of various intellectual and moral crises among Muslim generations. The dichotomy between religious sciences and general sciences is not an original legacy of classical Islamic civilization, but rather a product of colonialism that systematically separated knowledge domains. Through library research with descriptive qualitative analysis, this study traces the historical roots of such dichotomy, analyzes the concept of knowledge integration proposed by contemporary Muslim thinkers such as Ismail Raji al Faruqi, M. Amin Abdullah, and Kuntowijoyo, and identifies implementation models at Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. The findings indicate that knowledge integration has multidimensional implications, encompassing epistemological strengthening, pedagogical transformation, character building, and enhanced institutional relevance. Successful implementation requires synergy between curriculum renewal, educator competency development, policy support, and sustainable infrastructure investment.

The findings reveal that Artificial Intelligence (AI) serves as a supportive learning medium that helps students access information, understand learning materials, and complete academic tasks more effectively. The use of AI has also transformed students' learning patterns, making them more active, independent, adaptive, and flexible, as they are no longer solely dependent on textbooks or teachers' explanations as their primary sources of learning. However, the implementation of AI still faces several challenges, including limited digital literacy, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and the potential for excessive dependence on technology if not accompanied by proper teacher guidance. Therefore, the effective integration of AI into the learning process should be supported by improving both teachers' and students' competencies to ensure high-quality learning that is aligned with technological advancements in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using flashcards on the early reading skills of second-grade students at SD IT Ummu Fathima, Bengkulu City. The study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design—specifically, a non-equivalent control group design. The study population consisted of all students at SD IT Ummu Fathima, Bengkulu City, while the sample comprised 40 students: 20 from class IIA (experimental group) and 20 from class IIB (control group). Data collection techniques included observation, testing, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing (Independent Sample t-test) with the aid of IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25. The results indicate that the implementation of instruction using flashcards improved with each session, ranging from "good" to "very good." The mean post-test score for the experimental group was 73.25, which was higher than that of the control group (68.00). Hypothesis testing yielded a significance value of 0.003 (p < 0.05); thus, the null hypothesis (H?) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H?) was accepted. Consequently, it can be concluded that the use of flashcards has a significant effect on the early reading skills of second-grade students at SD IT Ummu Fathima, Bengkulu City. Flashcards proved effective in increasing learning interest, facilitating letter and word recognition, and helping to improve early reading skills.

Abstract

This study was motivated by persistent issues regarding student learning discipline in Islamic Religious Education classes—such as non-compliance with rules, a lack of responsibility in completing assignments, and insufficient student engagement in the learning process. These conditions highlight the importance of teacher strategies in fostering and enhancing student learning discipline starting at the elementary school level. This study aims to describe the strategies employed by the teacher to address student learning discipline in Islamic Religious Education classes for Grade IV students at SD Negeri 106 Bengkulu City. A qualitative method with a descriptive approach was utilized. The research subjects—comprising the Islamic Religious Education teacher, Grade IV students, and parents—were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis proceeded through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing; data validity was verified through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the teacher’s strategies for addressing student learning discipline involved setting an example, habituation, rule enforcement, providing motivation and counsel, and implementing educational rewards and punishments. The application of these strategies successfully improved student compliance with rules, responsibility in completing assignments, and student awareness regarding orderly participation in the learning process. Thus, consistently applied teacher strategies play a crucial role in shaping student learning discipline in Islamic Religious Education, thereby supporting a more effective and conducive learning environment.
