Abstract

The PISA 2006-2018 report shows a less significant development of our country's literacy and scientific abilities. Hard work and more efficient methods are needed for the development of education in Indonesia, especially chemistry which is known as the central of science. The STEAM learning approach is believed to be able to improve the quality of learning, and make it interesting. The approach used in this research is the class observation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) method, the STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematic) approach, which is carried out by the students of SIS Kelapa Gading-Jakarta. There were two student groups who were observed completing assignments per semester over a period of 3 semesters (2 academic years). PjBL learning is better in terms of completeness than Non-PjBL. The difference in the percentage of task completeness is between 20-32%, the difference in value is between 10-24%. Furthermore, PjBL learning with STEAM is better than Non STEAM, with a difference in the percentage of task completeness 12%, the difference in value is 9%. This is because it makes students more engaged, happy, motivated, more understanding and in accordance with the learning needed in the 21st century.

Abstract

With the Covid-19 Pandemic, the teacher's role is not only as a teacher in a formal school but is expected to be an agent of renewal in the face of a new normal where we must all be able to live with the coronavirus. This research aims to get an idea of teachers' experiences as community coaches or extensions and the most appropriate type of training during this pandemic. The data in this descriptive study was obtained from the spread of questionnaires to 16,546 respondents who were teachers at the early childhood education (PAUD) to high school (SMA) levels throughout Indonesia. Data processing and analysis were done descriptively and obtained some results. Notably, 77.8% of respondents have experience in providing training, and the most training materials ever given by teachers as coaches are about education, which is 88.9%. Related to the skills needed to act as a coach with material about life in the Era New Normal, most teachers assume that speaking in public, developing presentation materials, and using technology are skills that must be possessed. Furthermore, the study's results can be a reference for developing training forms with teachers as coaches or extensionists, especially in the New Normal era.

Abstract

The prevalence of malnutrition under five in West Pasaman Regency, from 17.8% in 2019 to 21% in 2020, makes the area with the highest number of malnutrition cases in West Sumatra. Prevention and handling of malnutrition cases are dominantly centered in the district, so areas far from the district center are often unreachable. Especially during this pandemic, posyandu activities are hampered. This study aimed to describe the malnutrition prevention strategy in West Pasaman Regency. Qualitative research was chosen because it is in line with the research objectives. The informants of this research wee the Head of the Public Health Center, the Community Leader, the Posyandu Cadre, and Parents who have early childhood. The instruments are observation, interviews, and documentation—data analysis using data triangulation. The prevention strategy is to provide JKN to malnutrition toddlers, especially from low-income families, by including them in Jamkesda membership, providing latrines and clean water to low-income families, and collaborating with universities to educate parents. It can be concluded that the district government implements a strategy to reduce malnutrition cases.
