Abstract

This article offers a strategy to instill the values of religious moderation in students through Islamic education as a formal application of religious moderation. On the other hand, in the practice of social life, many local wisdoms are owned by communities in various regions of Indonesia, which have similarities and can support indicators of religious moderation. Implementation in this form is said to be a form of informal application of religious moderation. This article aims to highlight the application of religious moderation in Indonesia formally through Islamic education and informally through local wisdom that is part of the customs and culture of Indonesian society. This article is a literature research study using the grounded theory approach method. The data used is qualitative and analyzed using Miles et al.’s qualitative data analysis techniques, namely data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This study found that to give birth to a moderate generation, it is necessary to develop Islamic education by using religious moderation as a paradigm of religious moderation formally. In addition to formal forms, the application of religious moderation must also be supported by local wisdom embodied in the culture and customs of the people in each region in Indonesia as a form of informal application of religious moderation. This research contributes to stemming the radicalization of religion (Islam) that occurs in schools (educational institutions) while disseminating the value of religious moderation following the character of Indonesian Islam to students. In addition, it also contributes to preventing tension and conflict in the community, so a cultural approach is needed through local wisdom that has messages from local ancestors about peace.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the practice related to the buyer's right in terms of returning transaction goods in treading because of the damage in the object of trade (khiyar 'aib) practice and this occurred during  the Covid-19 pandemic which encouraged fraudulent actions in trade. The purpose of this research is to see the perspective of Sharia Economic Law on the practice of khiyar 'aib that occurred in Meulaboh Supermarket during the Covid-19 pandemic. The type of research that the author uses in this study is a type of qualitative research, in this study the author uses data collection techniques by combining two methods, namely literature research methods and field research methods.  In the literature research method, the author presents data based on three data sources namely primary data source, secondary data source and tertiary data source. While in the field research method, the author presents data based on observations, interviews and documentation studies which the author then analyzes in a descriptive way. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the practice of khiyar 'aib in the Pasar Raya Meulaboh  continues to run in accordance with Sharia Economic Law both in terms of conditions, time limits, the abolition of khiyar 'aib and so on. The Covid-19 pandemic only affected the income of sellers at Meulaboh Supermarket, but did not affect the practices contained in it, especially the practice of khiyar 'aib. This research contributes to finding the practice of khiyar carried out by perpetrators of buying and selling transactions and presents it in the form of data where previously the practice of khiyar at Pasar Raya Meulaboh had never been exposed before even though this practice was carried out quite often. The author also identified that there were sellers and buyers who did not know that the practices they were carrying out were khiyar practices. This research also provides education to informants about the practice of khiyar that occurs among traders.

Abstract

The article examines the phenomenon of shifting religion in Cyberspace, where the practices from the offline to the online sphere are indicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has changed the social structure and behaviour of Indonesian society. For the most part, hajj metaverse discourse tends to use this new public space to be a clear visual manifestation of religious identity. Using this theoretical framework of Champbell and Sheldon, religion needs to adjust to all threats and risks in Cyberspace. The article questions to what extent the metaverse Hajj discourse has shifted religious authority in Cyberspace. How has the pandemic impacted the discourse of Hajj through the metaverse? as seen from the debate of restrictions on places of worship and leading to alternative ways to enjoy the Hajj pilgrimage during the COVID-19 pandemic? Using qualitative methods and ethnographic study, discourse on metaverse hajj makes it impossible to shift religious authority because, in historical, legal, and procedural terms, it is problematic to apply in Muslim society. On the other hand, the ritual of Hajj cannot be broken because a series of activities requires physical presence. The second finding is that the law of Hajj in the metaverse to spread COVID-19 does not validate the Hajj itself because it does not fulfil the pillars of Hajj. Findings reveal that while the metaverse offers potential benefits such as increased accessibility and immersive experiences, it also raises concerns regarding fulfilling Hajj's core tenets, which require physical presence and adherence to specific rituals. The study concludes that although virtual Hajj may serve as a supplementary tool for education and familiarization, it cannot replace the actual pilgrimage due to its inherent limitations in fulfilling the religious obligations associated with Hajj. This research contributes to understanding how digital transformation influences religious practices and highlights the tension between technological advancements and traditional rituals.

Abstract

This article aims to look at the history of the feud between the Cipete camp, namely the KH Idham Chalid camp and supported by NU politician cadres with the Situbondo camp supported by non-political scholars in the context of searching for NU identity (Khittah NU) and its implications for PBNU’s political policies during the leadership of Gus Yahya Cholil Staquf, both national politics and practical politics in the 2024 elections. This article is a library research study with historical methodology, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The research found that the conflict between the Situbondo camp and the Cipete camp was a tug-of-war over the search for NU’s identity, which was allegedly pushed very far into the realm of practical politics and neglected other fields. To settle the dispute, a reconciliation was made between the two camps in 1984, and both continued the NU congress in Situbondo, which gave birth to a new PBNU leadership, a return to the basic values of NU as a social organisation, withdrawing from various aspects of practical politics, and accepting the single principle of Pancasila. When viewed in the context of 2024, the PBNU led by Gus Yahya Cholil Staquf (period 2022 to 2027) is guided by the Khittah NU and stops all practical political activities, especially in the face of the 2024 elections. PBNU, under Gus Yahya’s leadership, asserted its neutrality and independence as a form of NU’s Khittah in all kinds of practical politics. The issue of PBNU’s alignment with one of the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 elections was dismissed and denied by PBNU. PBNU carries out national politics by ensuring the safety of Indonesia's religion, nation, and state, especially after the 2024 elections.

Abstract

This research contains an in-depth study of internalizing values in the Al-Qur'an through social media, with a focused analysis of the da'wah content presented via the Instagram account @thegangoffur. Specifically, this research aims to classify the delivery of da'wah messages based on the logical design of the message and analyze the formulation of the internalization of the values contained. This research uses qualitative research methods with content analysis methods. Data collection through literature study on data sources in the form of uploading preaching content on the Instagram account @thegangoffur. Data analysis techniques use the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana models. The theory used is message logic design by Barbara O'Keefe, divided into three studies: expressive, conventional, and rhetorical. The research results show that: First, expressive logic is designed with an informal and emotional language style, such as exclamation marks and expressions that reflect decisions and beliefs about patience and time management; Second, conventional logic is designed with a semi-formal language style and excerpts from Qur'anic verses. The da'wah message contained includes understanding the nature of Allah as All-Seeing. Third, rhetorical logic uses interrogative sentences and persuasive sentences that reflect readers on their beliefs about the concept of tawakkal. The urgency of this research is because it shows the potential of social media as an effective means of spreading Islamic values and bringing the teachings of the Al-Qur'an closer to the broader community in a modern and interactive way.
