Abstract

Tax is the main source of state revenue that plays an important role in supporting national development in various strategic sectors. Therefore, increasing tax awareness is the main focus of various institutions, including the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) and other fiscal education actors. One of the approaches used in tax education is the utilization of social media, such as instagram, which has a wide reach and interactive features. This research aims to find out how Wellner Consulting utilizes the Instagram platform as a means of delivering tax education to the public. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods through in-depth interviews and content analysis of the @wellnerconsulting Instagram account. In collecting and analyzing secondary data from Weliner Consulting's Instagram account, the author utilizes a digital tool called Reportei. The results showed that Wellner Consulting's digital communication strategy reflects the characteristics of convergent media, namely the incorporation of various content formats such as videos (Reels), images and text (carousels), and interactive features (Stories) in one platform. The strategy also involves two-way communication between the information provider and the audience, and is supported by data-driven evaluation to measure the effectiveness of the content. The findings show that tax information can be delivered in a light, interesting, and easy-to-understand manner, especially for the digital generation. Thus, Wellner Consulting's utilization of Instagram not only supports the dissemination of tax information, but also plays a role in shaping public tax awareness in a sustainable manner through an adaptive, communicative, and visual-based approach.

Abstract

This research used correlational quantitative research design. This research aims to find out whether there is a positive correlation between students' self-talk and their speaking’s ability. The sample of this research consists of 30 students from the academic year 2021/2022 of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University. The sampling technique used in this study is simple random sampling. The instruments used to collect data were  a speaking test and a questionnaire. The method used to analyze the correlation between students' self-talk and students' speaking ability is the Pearson product-moment correlation and simple linear regression test. The result of this research showed that there is a significant correlation between self-talk and students’ speaking ability. This correlation is indicated by a Pearson correlation value of 0.883, which means there is a very strong correlation between the two variables. The value of t-count is 9.975, higher than the t-table 2.048. This implies that students’ self-talk can influence the development of speaking ability. The higher the positive self-talk that students have, the better their speaking ability will be. Conversely, the higher the negative self-talk that students have, the lower their speaking ability will be.

Abstract

"How were the second-year students of SMA Negeri 2 Baubau ability in determining syllable-stress in the words?" was the research's problem statement. Additionally, the following were the goals of this study: to determine the second-year SMA Negeri 2 Baubau pupils' proficiency with syllable stress. The goal of this study was to assess the second-year students at SMA Negeri 2 Baubau's proficiency with syllable stress. Descriptive quantitative design was adopted in this study. The instrument utilized in this study was a question test. Purposive random sampling was employed to choose the study's sample. In order to gather data for this study, the researcher used a test that consisted of questions about stressed syllables and asked the students to respond. This was examined using percentage analysis to establish which classifications (very good, good, adequate, sufficient, and poor) the second-year SMA Negeri 2 Baubau students used to identify syllable stress in the terms. The results showed that, in terms of syllable-stress in words, the second-year students at SMA Negeri 2 Baubau scored very good, good, adequate, sufficient, and poor as follows: no student received a score of 90–100, 7 students (37%), only 9 students (47%), 8 students (42%), or sufficient, and 14 students (74%), or poor. As a result, the second-year SMA Negeri 2 Baubau students' average proficiency in identifying syllable-stress in words was adequate. Consistent with the aforementioned findings, the researcher discussed how the mean score of 58,4 suggested that the second year of SMA Negeri 2 Baubau was still challenging in determining syllable-stress in words. The majority of pupils in the sufficient achievement group of their ability to identify syllable-stress in words were unaware of stress, albeit occasionally they were.

Abstract

This study, entitled The Use of Role Play Model to Develop Vocabulary Mastery of Grade Ten Students at SMA Negeri 2 Palu, aims to examine the effectiveness of the role play model in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery. The research was motivated by the observation that many tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Palu struggle with limited vocabulary, which is often caused by low motivation, monotonous teaching methods, and a lack of confidence in using English. The study employed a pre-experimental design involving one group of 32 students. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test instruments administered before and after the implementation of role play activities based on real-life scenarios. The results showed a significant increase in vocabulary scores, with the mean rising from 12.06 (pre-test) to 18.75 (post-test). Statistical analysis using SPSS revealed that the data met normality and homogeneity assumptions, and the Independent Sample t-Test indicated a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), confirming the positive effect of the role play model. These findings support the conclusion that role play is an effective, interactive, and engaging strategy to develop students' vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This study aims to find out whether the Audio-lingual method is effective in improving students' pronunciation, particularly in word stress, among tenth-grade students of SMA Bala Keselamatan Palu. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving 54 students, divided into an experimental group (n=25) and a control group (n=29) through total sampling technique. The experimental group was taught using the audio-lingual method, while the control group followed conventional methods. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests, and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean post-test score (75.44) compared to the control group (61.69). Statistical analysis using SPSS version 26 showed a significance value (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These results indicate that the Audio-Lingual Method is effective in improving students' pronunciation, specifically in mastering word stress in English.

Abstract

Verbal parallelism is a stylistic device frequently employed in public and religious discourse to enhance rhythm, emphasis, and memorability. This study investigates the use of verbal parallelism in Reverend Mariann Budde’s sermon delivered at the 2025 United States presidential inauguration prayer service. The research aims to explore how verbal parallelism functions stylistically in the sermon and how it contributes to highlighting key messages. A qualitative research design was employed, using documentation and analysis of the sermon transcript as the primary data source. The analysis identified eight types of verbal parallelism based on Leech’s (1969) classification. The findings revealed that seven types verbal parallelism was deliberately and systematically used throughout the sermon. Anaphora was found to be the most frequently used type, followed by homoioteleuton, epistrophe, symploce, polyptoton, anadiplosis, and antistrophe. On the whole, this study confirms that verbal parallelism serves as an effective stylistic strategy in public and religious discourse.
