Abstract

This study examines the values of moral education contained in the Qur’an as a fundamental guide for shaping human character. The research aims to describe the concept of moral education (akhlak), clarify its objectives, and analyze Qur’anic verses relevant to moral development, particularly QS. Ali Imran:159, QS. Al-Hujurat:11, and QS. An-Nisa:148. This study employs a qualitative library research method by analyzing classical and contemporary tafsir sources as well as references related to Islamic education. The findings reveal that moral education in the Qur’an emphasizes noble character, including compassion, gentleness, mutual respect, avoidance of mockery, and refraining from speaking ill of others. These values play a crucial role in shaping individuals who are pious, responsible, and socially ethical. Furthermore, the Qur’an highlights moral principles as the foundation of societal harmony, where strong moral character contributes to the rise of a community, while moral decay leads to its decline. The study concludes that moral education must be implemented consistently through family, schools, and society to develop holistic individuals with strong spiritual and social integrity.

Abstract

Lontiok House is a house located in one of the villages, precisely on Belimbing Island, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This traditional house is one of the typical houses of the Malay community that has high historical and cultural value. This study aims to determine the meaning of culture, social function, and the reasons why Lontiok House is considered a Malay cultural heritage in the Riau area. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by means of observation, interviews with house guards, and documentation collection. The results of the study show that Lontiok House is a stilt house with a curved roof (lontiok) which symbolizes respect for God Almighty. This house also applies the philosophy of odd numbers in its building, which is believed by the community to be a symbol of balance and good luck. In the past, Lontiok House was used as a place for traditional deliberations and community activities, while now it is often used for social and religious events such as the People's Party, MTQ, and student KKN. Although many traditional heritage items were lost due to theft, Lontiok House is still recognized as a historical building that has important cultural and architectural value. Therefore, the Lontiok House needs to be maintained and preserved as a Kampar Malay cultural heritage.

Abstract

Museums play a crucial role as institutions that preserve the nation's collective memory, not only as repositories but also as educational and entertainment resources. This research focuses on the importance of enhancing cultural and historical understanding among the public, particularly the younger generation, in order to optimize the museum's function. Cultural understanding, encompassing knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward cultural heritage, is considered key to creating meaningful experiences and encouraging active involvement in cultural preservation. Regional museums, such as the Sang Nila Utama Museum in Riau Province, are ideal locations for developing this understanding. However, numerous challenges remain, such as a lack of interest from young people, ineffective promotion, complex bureaucratic processes, and limitations in technology implementation. Initial observations indicate that although the museum boasts unique and historically valuable collections, public knowledge (including that of students in Pekanbaru) about its role and existing collections remains very limited. This is due to the perception that museums are unattractive, a lack of comprehensive information, and limited digital accessibility. This situation contributes to the low number of visitors and the Riau community's weak understanding of their heritage. Therefore, strategic steps are needed to address these issues to maximize the museum's role in enhancing cultural understanding.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of an innovative and interactive role-playing-based learning model for fifth-grade elementary school students on Indonesian Independence and the National Struggle. The main issue raised is students' low understanding of the values of the nation's struggle, which are often taught conventionally, making them less engaging and participatory. Therefore, a more active approach is needed to increase student engagement. The objective of the study is to improve students' understanding of the values of the nation's struggle through an engaging, active, and participatory approach, as well as to develop social skills, empathy, and creativity. The research methodology uses a qualitative and quantitative approach with a classroom action research (CAR) design, involving the integration of innovative elements such as simple costumes, digital props, and interactive scenarios tailored to the children's age. The implementation procedure includes preparing scenarios based on historical figures, dividing students into groups, and a 2-3 hour role-playing session with dialogue, movement, and presentations. Evaluation is conducted through participant observation and interactive quizzes. The results show a 25% increase in material understanding, increased student enthusiasm, social engagement, and critical thinking skills. The main challenges are preparation time and limited resources. The conclusion states that this model is effective in making history material more concrete and interesting at the Elementary School level, with follow-up in the form of teacher training, development of digital modules, and expansion to other materials to support 21st-century education.

Abstract

Reading the Qur’an is an essential basic skill for every Muslim, not only as a form of worship but also as a means of understanding Islamic teachings and developing spiritual character. This study examines the application of the Thoriqoty method in enhancing Qur’an reading creativity among students at SDI 2 Pojok, Kediri. The Thoriqoty method offers a varied and flexible approach, combining drills, demonstrations, immediate feedback, and progress monitoring to foster students’ reading skills, religious attitudes, discipline, and self-confidence. A descriptive-analytical qualitative approach was employed through a case study, with data collected from interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers, students, and parents. The results indicate that this method is effective in improving Qur’an reading skills and establishing students’ spiritual foundations; however, it still faces challenges such as varying learning motivation, limited independent practice, restricted individual attention from teachers, and suboptimal facilities. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competence, enhancing students’ internal motivation, and providing adequate learning resources so that the Thoriqoty method can cultivate a generation of young people who are proficient in reading the Qur’an and well-developed in both character and spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Islamic education shaped social construction during the time of the Prophet Muhammad and the Caliphs. This study uses a library research method and data analysis was conducted using the theory of Huberman and Miles, which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that Islamic education is a social construction formed through ongoing social, cultural, and spiritual interactions, which then shape social reality. The process of forming this social reality occurs through interaction and dialectics with three main stages from Berger and Luckman’s theory, namely externalization, objectivation, and internalization. Thus, Islamic education during the time of the Prophet Muhammad and the Caliphs was not only a process of knowledge transfer, but also a transformative force that succeeded in creating and institutionalizing a new social order, values, and norms in society.
