Abstract

In the era of globalization and advances in digital technology, the role of parents in instilling character values ​​in early childhood is crucial. Children now grow up in an information-rich environment, a culture of instant gratification, and the influence of the digital world, which can influence moral values. Attitudes and characteristics of early childhood are influenced by the ongoing role of parents, especially young mothers aged 15-49 years or couples of childbearing age (PUS). This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach, which reveals facts, phenomena, and conditions that occurred during the research in the field and presents data as they are. The subjects of this study were early childhood children at the Adhi Siwi Early Childhood Education Post in Candi Village. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study revealed the role of parents, especially young mothers aged 15-49 years, as the first and primary educators who play a crucial role in instilling character in children. Parents' role in carrying out their duties also faces various obstacles or underlying factors, but behind all of this, parents still see success achieved when they have successfully taught their children and instilled character values ​​in them as early as possible. The conclusion of this study is that young mothers have taught and implemented character values ​​to their children from an early age in various ways, and continue to carry out their roles well despite several similar inhibiting factors.

Abstract

This research was conducted to assess the quality of Scaffolding and visualization in the presentation of the Mathematics Module material for Grade X KD 3.2 regarding 3D vector material. The approach used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach, which is carried out by analyzing the structure of the material, illustrations, example questions, and exercises provided in the module using content analysis techniques. The focus of the analysis conducted leads to several main aspects, including: (1) The sequence and form of Scaffolding presented as support in understanding the concept gradually, and (2) The effectiveness of visualization to help define and organize spatial vector data in space. This research resulted in a finding that the module has used Scaffolding with a tiered presentation of concepts, starting from the initial stage, namely the introduction of vector material in space to the stage of applying operations on vectors. However, on the other hand, it was also found that there are several stages of this Scaffolding that are not consistent, namely in the transition from examples to exercises which require a higher level of independence. Based on the visualization, the module utilizes spatial coordinate diagrams and vector arrow representations. However, some visuals lack detail in depicting orientation and depth in space, potentially leading to misconceptions among students. Overall, the module provides sufficient support for learning, but further strengthening of conceptual visualizations and more systematic Scaffolding is needed to optimally facilitate students' spatial thinking.

Abstract

Pemahaman konseptual dalam kalkulus peubah banyak sangat bergantung pada ketepatan definisi, struktur penalaran, serta konsistensi penyajian materi dalam sumber belajar. Buku ajar sebagai salah satu rujukan utama pembelajaran harus mampu memberikan representasi konsep yang benar secara matematis agar tidak memunculkan interpretasi yang keliru. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji potensi miskonsepsi yang terdapat dalam buku Kalkulus Peubah Banyak karya Sumadji serta merumuskan strategi pedagogis yang relevan guna mendukung pembelajaran yang lebih konseptual. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi yang difokuskan pada aspek definisi formal, penggunaan notasi, struktur penjelasan konsep, penyajian ilustrasi, dan contoh soal. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini meliputi teks buku ajar, literatur kalkulus standar internasional, serta pemetaan miskonsepsi dari studi terdahulu. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, peninjauan akademik, dan validasi ahli. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif melalui proses kategorisasi dan interpretasi temuan. Melalui pendekatan ini, penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran mengenai bagian-bagian materi yang berpotensi menimbulkan miskonsepsi sehingga dapat menjadi dasar evaluasi dan revisi penyajian materi dalam pembelajaran. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menawarkan alternatif strategi pedagogis berbasis pemahaman konseptual yang dapat digunakan dosen dalam mengoptimalkan proses belajar kalkulus peubah banyak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis secara pedagogis dan konseptual kesalahan‐kesalahan yang terdapat dalam Modul Pembelajaran Kalkulus Peubah Banyak karya Soebagyo dkk. (2021) dan merumuskan rekomendasi perbaikan bahan ajar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi dokumen melalui kerangka Critical Book Report (CBR). Sumber data utama adalah modul kalkulus peubah banyak yang digunakan pada perkuliahan, sedangkan data pendukung berupa sepuluh artikel jurnal nasional berbahasa Indonesia yang relevan dengan topik kalkulus multivariabel, aljabar linear, dan pendidikan matematika. Dari hasil telaah ditemukan sepuluh kesalahan substantif yang dikategorikan ke dalam: (1) kesalahan definisi dan konsep (fungsi dua peubah, gradien, ortogonalitas, trace matriks), (2) kesalahan prosedural dan perhitungan (proyeksi vektor, contoh segitiga siku-siku, luas segitiga dengan cross product), serta (3) kelemahan notasi dan presentasi simbolik (komponen hasil kali silang, sifat tidak komutatif perkalian matriks, konsistensi notasi matriks). Setiap temuan diverifikasi dengan membandingkan definisi dan teorema baku pada jurnal acuan, kemudian disusun usulan perbaikan berupa redaksi definisi baru, contoh tandingan, penekanan domain-kodomain, serta penambahan latihan konseptual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian kesalahan berpotensi kuat memunculkan miskonsepsi berantai pada topik lanjut (integral lipat, optimasi multivariabel, transformasi linier) sehingga perlu diberi anotasi korektif jika modul tetap digunakan sebagai referensi kuliah. Secara praktis, studi ini memberi masukan bagi dosen, mahasiswa pendidikan matematika, dan pengembang kurikulum mengenai pentingnya audit konseptual terhadap buku ajar kalkulus sebelum digunakan secara luas.

Abstract

Visual impairment in school-aged children often remains undetected despite its substantial impact on learning and overall academic development. This study aims to map the functional vision of elementary school students through a structured visual screening using the Functional Residual Vision Assessment (ASF). A descriptive quantitative approach with a field-study design was employed, involving all students at SDN 1 Teros through a total sampling technique. The screening assessed multiple components of functional vision, including light response, contrast sensitivity, near–far vision, visual field use, visual tracking and scanning, focus shifting, eye–hand coordination, and the ability to read large print materials. The results indicate that 11.86% of students showed signs of visual impairment, with 5.08% categorized as having indications of low vision. Students identified with visual difficulties demonstrated compensatory behaviors such as difficulty following visual instructions, slower copying from the board, and avoidance of reading activities. Notably, none of these students had previously undergone formal visual examinations, highlighting the absence of early identification mechanisms in the school. These findings emphasize the necessity of implementing regular visual screening, adapting classroom strategies to support visual access, and strengthening collaboration among schools, parents, and eye-health professionals to ensure inclusive and equitable learning opportunities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the use of concrete media in arithmetic learning for first-grade elementary students. The background of this research is based on students' need for direct experiences to understand mathematical concepts during the concrete operational stage. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students at a private elementary school in Yogyakarta. The findings reveal that teachers have utilized various concrete media such as beads, popsicle sticks, Dienes blocks, and buttons to teach addition and subtraction. These media enhanced students' enthusiasm, active participation, and conceptual understanding. However, several challenges were found, including limited time, insufficient materials, and teachers' difficulty in connecting concrete experiences to symbolic representations. The study concludes that concrete media can be effectively applied when teachers plan systematically and apply constructivist learning principles. Abstract

The growth in the number of converts to Islam in Indonesia is closely related to the growth of the Muslim population. The majority of converts come from rural, remote, and interior areas, and generally convert to Islam in groups. Observational research and interviews conducted with the Head of the Arimatea Convert Guidance Institute and the Islamic Religious Counseling Institute at the Turi Regency Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) indicate that the conversion rate is quite high. This, in turn, underscores the importance of Islamic legal education and guidance for converts. This study employed qualitative research with descriptive methods. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with informants in Pancoh Hamlet. The researcher considered it crucial to examine the patterns of Islamic guidance and education for converts to Islam to find solutions to the problems they face. To focus this study on a specific problem, the researcher focused on the patterns of Islamic guidance and education for converts in Pancoh Hamlet, Turi District, Sleman Regency. Through the application of Abraham Maslow's theory, it was found that fulfilling the basic needs of converts, such as physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization, is crucial for the process of adapting to a new religious identity. These needs must be met sequentially for converts to feel accepted within the Muslim community and reach their full potential. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more comprehensive and effective methods of mentoring converts, thereby improving the quality of their spiritual and social lives.

Abstract

The ongoing transformation in the education sector requires schools to evolve into adaptive, collaborative, and quality‐oriented learning organizations. This study is grounded in the understanding that human relations and effective communication serve as essential foundations for developing a sustainable learning culture within schools. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the integration of Case Based Learning (CBL) and Small Group Discussion (SGD) can strengthen the characteristics of a learning organization at SMP IT An Najma, North Cikarang. This study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the implementation of CBL–SGD encourages both teachers and students to become more reflective, receptive to feedback, and skilled in solving real-life problems within the school context. Interactions between teachers and students increased significantly, especially in aspects of collaboration, interpersonal communication, and decision‐making skills. The school demonstrated key characteristics of a learning organization, including continuous learning, systemic thinking, and a collaborative culture. The study concludes that the CBL–SGD strategy is effective in strengthening the school’s role as a learning organization, particularly by enhancing the quality of human relations and communication. The practical implication suggests that case-based and small group learning models can be adopted as strategies to improve instructional quality and reinforce school culture.

Abstract

Artikel ini menyajikan analisis kritis terhadap buku CLP-3 Multivariable Calculus karya Feldman, Rechnitzer, dan Yeager dengan fokus pada kekuatan pedagogis, potensi kesalahan konseptual, dan implikasinya bagi pembelajaran Kalkulus Multivariabel. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui analisis dokumen, dengan menelaah secara sistematis struktur bab, alur penyajian materi, representasi konsep kunci (limit multivariabel, turunan parsial, gradien, optimasi, dan integral lipat), serta konsistensi notasi dan ketepatan rumus. Analisis dilengkapi dengan perbandingan terhadap beberapa buku dan sumber kalkulus multivariabel lain yang diakui secara luas.Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa CLP-3 Multivariable Calculus memiliki sejumlah kekuatan utama, antara lain struktur materi yang runtut, keterkaitan yang kuat dengan kalkulus satu variabel melalui strategi daur ulang konsep, penggunaan visualisasi geometris dan alat bantu prosedural (misalnya tree diagrams untuk Chain Rule), serta kelimpahan latihan yang disertai petunjuk dan solusi. Di sisi lain, ditemukan beberapa kelemahan, seperti status buku yang masih bersifat work in progress, ketergantungan pada seri CLP sebelumnya, penempatan konsep penting (misalnya Jacobian dalam koordinat umum) sebagai materi opsional, serta sejumlah ketidaktepatan notasi, rumus, dan penulisan yang berpotensi menimbulkan miskonsepsi. Implikasi dari temuan tersebut adalah bahwa CLP-3 Multivariable Calculus tetap layak digunakan sebagai buku ajar utama pada mata kuliah Kalkulus Multivariabel yang berorientasi pada pemahaman konseptual dan pembuktian, dengan syarat penggunaannya disertai klarifikasi konsep oleh dosen, pemanfaatan lembar errata, serta integrasi dengan bahan pendamping yang menyesuaikan konteks mahasiswa. Selain itu, analisis ini menegaskan pentingnya peninjauan kritis terhadap buku teks matematika sebelum dan selama digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Islamic storytelling method in improving honest character among second-grade students at STTD Al-Birru Majenang. The Islamic storytelling method was chosen because it can convey moral values and Islamic teachings through stories that are interesting and easy for children to understand. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection cycles. The subjects of the study were second-grade students participating in Islamic Religious Education lessons. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation of student activities during the learning process. The results show an increase in honest behavior among students after the application of the Islamic storytelling method. Students became more aware of the importance of honesty and demonstrated honest attitudes in their daily activities. In addition, this method also increased students' motivation and enthusiasm in following Islamic Religious Education. The study concludes that the Islamic storytelling method is effective in shaping honest character in second-grade students. It is recommended that teachers implement this method routinely in Islamic Religious Education to optimally develop the students' honest character.
