Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the principal and teacher strategies in strengthening religious tolerance at Hang Tuah Senior High School in Makassar. The focus of the study is directed at understanding how the principal's leadership contributes to creating an inclusive school environment, as well as how teachers implement learning strategies and role models in instilling values of tolerance in students. The urgency of this research is based on the school's religious diversity, yet it lacks a structured program to strengthen tolerance.The research method used was qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. Data validity was tested using source and method triangulation techniques. Data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.The research results show that the principal acts as an educator, motivator, innovator, and role model in strengthening religious tolerance. The principal also promotes a culture of mutual respect, fosters dialogue, and provides guidance to teachers on integrating tolerance into school activities. Meanwhile, teachers implement values-based learning strategies, model behavior, promote inclusive religious programs, and develop communication that prioritizes mutual respect both inside and outside the classroom. The combination of the principal's role and teacher strategies significantly influences the development of tolerance in students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of the culture of smiling, greeting, saluting, politeness, and courtesy (5S) in shaping students’ character education at UPTD SD Negeri 378 Wele, Belawa District, Wajo Regency, by positioning the school as a space for the habituation of living and contextual values, particularly within a rural socio-cultural environment. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, using data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students as the primary data sources. Data analysis is conducted through a descriptive-interpretative method, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, strengthened by triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that the strengthening of the 5S culture is not merely understood as a social habit, but has been internalized as a character education practice that shapes students’ religious attitudes, discipline, responsibility, and mutual respect. The uniqueness of the research setting is characterized by the close relationships between teachers and students, as well as the support of the local community’s cultural values surrounding the school, which serve as the main supporting factors for the successful implementation of this habituation. Interpretatively, these findings affirm that school culture based on simple habituation practices such as 5S holds strategic potential as an effective, contextual, and sustainable model of character education. Therefore, this study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of school culture–based character education studies, as well as a practical contribution as an implementative reference for elementary schools with similar characteristics.

Abstract

The writing ability of the first grade students of SDN Burengan 1 is still in the low category for 14 out of 23 students, with scores below the KKM 75 and the minimal use of media innovation, especially in Indonesian, is still low. This study aims to develop the Lembakota (Vocabulary Flip Chart) media and to describe its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving beginning writing skills of first-grade students at SDN Burengan 1, Kediri City. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The trial subjects consisted of 6 students in a limited trial and 17 students in a field trial. Primary data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests, and were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively to evaluate the feasibility of the developed media. The results show that Lembakota is feasible to use, with a validity percentage of 90.43% categorized as very valid. In terms of practicality, the media obtained a score of 100% based on the teacher response questionnaire and 90% based on the student response questionnaire, indicating that it is very practical. In terms of effectiveness, the field trial involving 17 students achieved 100% classical mastery. Thus, Lembakota can be declared very effective in improving beginning writing skills of first-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the learning method using the Work Card game influences the reading and writing literacy skills of third-grade students at MI Assuniyah 45 Paseban. The method used in this study is a direct method applied by researchers in the classroom (experimental) for two months. The participants of this study consisted of 22 third-grade students at MI Assuniyah 45 Paseban. The date of the study was September 15, 2025. The data collection method used a pre-experiment with a one-group design, with pre-tests and post-tests. The study showed that students' ability to construct sentences and use punctuation improved after the Word Card game was implemented. Based on the results of the normality test, the research data were normally distributed, thus meeting the requirements for hypothesis testing. Furthermore, the results of the paired t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) for both sentence construction and punctuation skills. This indicates a significant difference between the initial and final exam scores. Thus, it can be concluded that the Word Card game has a significant impact on the ability of third-grade students of MI Assuniyah 45 Paseban to construct sentences and use correct punctuation. The Word Card game can be used as an alternative way to learn Indonesian, thereby helping to improve elementary school students' reading and writing skills.

Abstract

The issue addressed in this research is the low academic performance of fourth-grade students at SDN Handil Bakti in mathematics, particularly in the topic of fractions. This challenge is linked to the application of unsuitable instructional models and methods that do not sufficiently promote active student engagement. Moreover, there is a lack of contextualized practice questions that could support students in grasping and applying the concept of rectangular prism volume. To overcome this problem, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model was introduced into the instructional process. This study aims to examine teacher performance and analyze both student engagement and learning achievement through the use of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, which was implemented across two cycles. The participants included 24 fourth-grade students at SDN Handil Bakti during the 2024/2025 academic year, consisting of 9 boys and 15 girls. The study gathered both qualitative and quantitative data. Observations of teacher and student activities provided qualitative insights, while quantitative data were collected through individual written assessments. The analysis was carried out using percentage-based calculations and predetermined standards for classical learning mastery. Findings revealed that teacher activity was rated "Very Good" in Cycle I with a score of 26 and increased to a score of 28 in Cycle II, maintaining the same rating. Student activity initially fell into the "Less Active" category at 58% in Cycle I, but improved to 83.33% in Cycle II, classified as "Very Active." Student learning outcomes also showed progress, with classical mastery rising from 58% in Cycle I to 83.33% in Cycle II. In conclusion, the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model has proven effective in enhancing teacher involvement, student participation, and learning outcomes in mathematics, particularly in the area of fractions. It is recommended that educators refer to this study when selecting learning models aimed at improving student achievement in fraction-related topics.

Abstract

Studies for fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Sopai through the implementation of a Game Based Learning model assisted by Edpuzzle media. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The study was conducted in two cycles involving 15 students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included learning outcome tests, observations of teacher and student activities, and documentation. Data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed that the implementation of the Game-Based Learning model assisted by Edpuzzle media effectively improved students’ IPAS learning outcomes. This improvement was indicated by an increase in the mastery learning percentage from 40% in the pre-cycle to 46.67% in Cycle I and further increased to 80% in Cycle II. In addition, students’ learning motivation and active participation during the learning process also improved. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Game-Based Learning model assisted by Edpuzzle media is effective in improving IPAS learning outcomes for elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of third-grade students at UPT SDN 10 Makale through the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model based on an ethnomathematics approach. The identified problem was the low learning outcomes in mathematics, caused by the lack of connection between the material and students' real-life experiences and local culture. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, formative tests, interviews, and documentation. The results showed significant improvements in students' learning outcomes, both in terms of mathematical concept understanding and learning motivation. In the first cycle, 60% of students met the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKTP), while in the second cycle, the completion rate reached 85%. The application of the CTL model based on ethnomathematics had a positive impact on improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts by linking the material to local culture, particularly the Toraja carving motifs. This study recommends the implementation of similar models to enhance the quality of mathematics teaching in primary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of group guidance services using snakes and ladders game media in improving the learning interest of class IX C students at SMP Negeri 2 Selogiri in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Selogiri and involved ten students who were categorized as having low learning interest. The research employed Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) implemented in three cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through learning interest questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The results showed a gradual improvement in students’ learning interest after the implementation of group guidance services using snakes and ladders game media. In the pre-cycle stage, students’ learning interest was 54% and categorized as low. It increased to 60% in Cycle I, 70% in Cycle II, and showed a significant improvement to 83% in Cycle III, with a total increase of 29% from the initial condition. This improvement indicates that learning interest indicators, including enjoyment, attention, interest, and student involvement, met the predetermined success criteria. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that group guidance services using snakes and ladders game media are effective in improving the learning interest of class IX C students at SMP Negeri 2 Selogiri.

Abstract

English language learning at the elementary education level, particularly in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, plays an important role in developing students’ basic language skills from an early age. However, vocabulary learning in lower grades is still commonly conducted using conventional methods such as textbooks and memorization, which often result in low student participation and boredom. Therefore, learning innovations are needed to create more engaging, concrete, and meaningful learning experiences.This study aims to describe the innovation of English language learning through the use of flashcard media in Grade II of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Unggulan Bustanul Ma’arif. Specifically, the study seeks to describe the implementation process of flashcards, students’ responses and learning activeness during the learning process, and changes in students’ English vocabulary mastery after the use of flashcard media.This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of an English teacher and second-grade students. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the use of flashcard media was implemented in a structured manner through vocabulary introduction using illustrated flashcards, joint pronunciation practice, and interactive exercises. The flashcard media increased students’ learning activeness and enthusiasm and had a positive impact on improving students’ English vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low underhand passing skills of junior high school extracurricular students due to limited training media and fear of using standard balls. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of plastic ball modification on improving the underhand passing skills of junior high school extracurricular students at SMP Negeri Satu Atap 1 Kabupaten Karawang. The research employed an experimental method with a quantitative approach and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 27 volleyball extracurricular students. Data collection techniques were conducted through underhand passing skill tests before and after the intervention, while data analysis used descriptive statistical tests and paired difference tests. The results showed an increase in the average underhand passing ability of students after being given treatment in the form of training using modified plastic balls. These findings indicate that plastic ball modification is effective in improving underhand passing skills because it provides a sense of safety, increases the frequency of training, and encourages active student participation. The study concluded that the use of plastic balls as a modified training medium positively influenced the improvement of students' underhand passing skills in volleyball. The implication of this research is that teachers and coaches are advised to utilise plastic balls as an alternative medium for teaching and practising basic volleyball techniques in schools.
