Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of student engagement and learning outcomes of third-grade students in Indonesian Language at Mertan 01 Elementary School in the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The pre-survey results showed that out of 17 students, only 42% achieved the Target Achievement Completion Criteria (KKTP) of 75, while 58% of students had not yet completed it. Furthermore, the level of student engagement in learning was also still low, with only 47% of students classified as active. This condition was caused by the implementation of teacher-centered learning and the minimal use of innovative media, resulting in a monotonous and less engaging learning environment. To address these issues, Let's Read digital media was implemented as an effort to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. Let's Read is a digital literacy platform that provides illustrated and leveled reading materials according to the ability level of elementary school students. This research used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was implemented in several cycles including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research results show that the implementation of Let's Read media can increase student engagement in learning and significantly improve the percentage of students completing learning outcomes. Therefore, the use of Let's Read media is effective in improving the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools, particularly in terms of student engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The thesis was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the subject of Akidah Akhlak in Grade VIII of Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The learning process, which was still teacher-centered, caused students to be less active, less confident in expressing their opinions, and less able to understand the material in depth. Therefore, an appropriate learning strategy was needed to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. This study aimed to determine the improvement of learning outcomes in Akidah Akhlak through the implementation of the group discussion method for Grade VIII students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah.This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 15 students. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis to determine the improvement in students’ learning outcomes in each cycle.The results of the study indicated that the implementation of the group discussion method improved students’ learning outcomes. This was shown by the increase in the average scores and the percentage of learning mastery in each cycle. Students became more active in the learning process, more confident in expressing their opinions, and more capable of working collaboratively in groups. Therefore, the group discussion method proved to be effective in improving learning outcomes in Akidah Akhlak for Grade VIII students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools is a serious problem that negatively impacts students’ social-emotional development and academic achievement. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) as a strategy to reduce bullying behavior in the school environment. The method used was a systematic literature review, analyzing 13 SINTA-indexed journal articles and 3 relevant reference books. The findings indicate that SEL is effective in reducing bullying behavior by strengthening five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Additionally, the success of SEL implementation is influenced by several supporting factors, such as high levels of student empathy, the creation of a positive school climate, and the active involvement of teachers and parents. This study concludes that PSE is an effective strategy for preventing and addressing bullying in elementary schools. Therefore, it is recommended that the PSE program be adapted to incorporate Indonesian local wisdom values, and that longitudinal research be conducted to assess the sustainability of its implementation effects.

Abstract

This thesis discusses the effectiveness of implementing patriotic behavior in the learning of Pancasila Education for fifth grade students at SDN 08 Bunobogu. The research problems are formulated as follows: (1) How effective is the implementation of patriotic behavior in Pancasila Education learning in the fifth grade of SDN 08 Bunobogu? (2) What aspects of practicing patriotic behavior serve as supporting factors, obstacles, and challenges for teachers and students in applying it within the school environment of SDN 08 Bunobogu? The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which patriotic behavior is applied in Pancasila Education learning for fifth grade students at SDN 08 Bunobogu. This study employed a qualitative research design, with data collected through documentation, interviews, and observation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, presentation, findings, and verification. The results indicate that the implementation of patriotic behavior in Pancasila Education at SDN 08 Bunobogu remains less effective. Several obstacles were identified, including the low level of student nationalism, limited school facilities, and curriculum changes that have not been matched with adequate teacher readiness. Supporting factors include routine school activities, the role of teachers, and parental support. However, hindering factors consist of inadequate facilities, lack of parental involvement, and absence of government assistance, while the main challenge is the regulation within the Merdeka Curriculum. The researcher suggests improvements in school facilities, teacher competencies, and more active parental involvement.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze social values in the short story Ujian Tabib by Linda Christanty using a sociology of literature approach. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a library research design. The data consist of textual quotations containing social values, with the primary source being the short story Ujian Tabib, published by Harian Kompas on January 3, 2026, and accessed through Kompas.id. Data collection techniques include intensive reading, contextual observation, and note-taking, while data analysis uses content analysis through stages of reduction, categorization, interpretation, and verification. The results reveal four classifications of social values: human relationships with others, human relationships with the social environment, systems of belief and social norms, and social conflict. These values are reflected through characters, events, and conflicts in the story. Furthermore, the findings can be utilized as alternative teaching material for Grade XI senior high school in the second semester, particularly in the topic “Exploring National Historical Values through Short Stories,” as they support students’ analytical skills and character development.

Abstract

This research investigates one emerging linguistic phenomenon is internet slang, which allows users to communicate efficiently while expressing creativity and social identity in online communities. This study aims to identify the word formation processes used in internet slang and to analyze the social and linguistic factors influencing its usage and meaning among internet users. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method. Data consisted of internet slang expressions collected from Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter through observation and documentation of posts, captions, and comment sections. The analysis was based on the morphological theory of word formation proposed by George Yule (2010), including acronym, clipping, blending, compounding, derivation, and borrowing. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Matthew Miles and Huberman consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that internet slang is mainly formed through acronym, clipping, blending, and compounding. These processes demonstrate the linguistic creativity of internet users in creating or modifying words for faster and more expressive communication. Its usage is also influenced by social and linguistic factors such as group identity, humor, emotional expression, social interaction, and communication efficiency. In conclusion, internet slang reflects the dynamic development of language influenced by technological advancement and social interaction in digital communication.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low descriptive writing skills of students in Indonesian language learning in class III SDM 014 Pulau Payung, Rumbio Jaya District, Kampar Regency. One solution to overcome this problem is to apply the Picture and Picture learning model. The purpose of this study is to improve descriptive writing skills in Indonesian language learning. The research method used by the researcher is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is carried out in two cycles, each cycle consists of 2 meetings and 4 stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research time was carried out starting in October 2024. The subjects of this study were 20 class III students, consisting of 9 boys and 11 girls. Data collection techniques were in the form of documentation and observation. This was before the action was taken, the students' cooperation ability was 25%. After the action was taken in cycle I it increased to 60%. While in cycle II it increased to 90%. Thus it can be concluded that using the Picture and Picture learning model can improve the descriptive writing skills of class III SDM 014 Pulau Payung students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Water use efficiency is a critical factor in rice cultivation, particularly in the context of limited water resources and increasing food demand. Conventional irrigation systems generally rely on fixed schedules without considering actual soil moisture conditions, which can lead to excessive water consumption. This study aims to design and develop a smart irrigation system based on soil moisture sensors and an ESP32 microcontroller to improve water use efficiency in rice cultivation. The developed system utilizes soil moisture sensors to monitor real-time soil water conditions, which are processed by the ESP32 to automatically control a water pump as the irrigation actuator. The research methodology includes hardware design, software development, and system performance testing in an experimental field. The test results indicate that the system can automatically regulate irrigation based on soil moisture levels and reduce water usage compared to conventional irrigation methods. Therefore, the proposed smart irrigation system has the potential to support precision agriculture practices and enhance water use efficiency in rice cultivation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the characteristics of adult learners in Arabic language learning through the YouTube platform in the context of digital-based education. The rapid development of digital technology has transformed learning practices, allowing broader access across different age groups, including adult learners who are often underrepresented in previous studies. This research aims to analyze the demographic profile of Arabic language learners on YouTube and to identify its implications for digital learning strategies. The study employs a quantitative descriptive approach using secondary data obtained from YouTube Analytics within the period of January 1 to September 1, 2025. The data include audience demographics such as age, gender, and geographic distribution. The findings reveal that the majority of learners are in the adult and elderly age groups, particularly those aged 65 years and above, followed by the 55–64 age group, with a dominant proportion of female viewers. Geographically, the audience is largely concentrated in Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia. These results indicate that Arabic language learning via YouTube is significantly utilized by adult learners as part of lifelong learning practices. The study highlights the importance of developing adaptive, accessible, and contextually relevant learning content tailored to adult learners in digital environments.

Abstract

Cultural diversity is a social reality that is inseparable from the life of modern society, particularly in the era of globalization characterized by the increasing intensity of interactions among individuals and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds. Differences in values, norms, language, and communication patterns often lead to misunderstandings that may trigger social conflicts or create barriers in organizational interactions. This article aims to examine intercultural communication strategies in addressing social diversity and global dynamics by integrating anthropological, social, and organizational perspectives. The methodemployed is a literature review, analyzing three scholarly journals and three reference books that discuss cross-cultural communication. The findings indicate that effective intercultural communication requires an understanding of cultural contexts, the ability to adapt messages, and the sensitive management of verbal and nonverbal communication. Prominent strategies include the development of intercultural competence, the role of mediators or neutral parties, the utilization of intercultural forums, and the application of communication principles oriented toward mutual understanding and respect for differences. In addition to fostering social harmony and peace, intercultural communication also contributes to enhancingthe effectiveness of interactions within organizational and business environments. Therefore, intercultural communication is a strategic skill that needs to be continuously developed to address the complexity of social diversity in a global context.
