Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

This study examines the impact of smartphone usage in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning among students at MAN 2 Kota Sukabumi. The rapid development of technology has made smartphones an integral part of students’ daily lives, including in the learning process. However, their use presents both opportunities and challenges in enhancing learning quality. This research aims to describe how smartphones are utilized in PAI learning and to analyze their impact on the quality of the learning process. This study employs a qualitative approach with a field research method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students. The findings reveal that smartphone usage positively contributes to improving learning quality, particularly in terms of students’ understanding, engagement, and motivation. Learning becomes more interactive, flexible, and student-centered. However, challenges such as distraction, limited supervision, and varying digital competencies among students were also identified. Therefore, proper management and guidance from teachers are essential to ensure that smartphone use effectively supports learning objectives. Overall, smartphones can serve as an effective learning medium in enhancing the quality of Islamic Religious Education when used appropriately and purposefully

This study is motivated by the low ability of students in understanding qira’ah texts, the use of conventional teaching methods, and the limited student engagement during learning activities, as reflected in the average pre-test score of 54.44 and the high need for more active learning reaching 85.03%. Based on these conditions, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving qira’ah skills using the book Akhlaqul Banaat at Pondok Pesantren Sabilul Muhtadin Banyuasin. This research employs a Mixed Method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data were collected through pre-test, post-test, and student need and satisfaction questionnaires, while qualitative data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation to provide deeper insights into the learning process. The analysis of learning improvement was conducted using the N-Gain formula. The results show a significant increase in students’ qira’ah ability after the implementation of PBL, with the post-test average rising to 86.48 and an N-Gain value of 0.7640 or 76.40%, categorized as high and effective. Student satisfaction also showed a very positive response with a percentage of 87.78%. Qualitative findings further support that PBL encourages students to be more active, critical, and capable of understanding the content and moral messages in Akhlaqul Banaat more deeply. Therefore, PBL is proven to be effective in improving the quality of qira’ah learning in Islamic boarding school settings.

This study addresses the problem of teacher-centered and conventional Muthala’ah learning at MTs Assalam Lahat, where students remain passive and encounter difficulties in comprehending Arabic texts. The research aims to develop and evaluate an innovative Arabic reading material integrating Collaborative Learning through drama texts to enhance students’ comprehension and engagement. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from the simplified Borg & Gall model, the study was conducted through six stages: needs analysis, data collection, product design, expert validation, revision, and try-out. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, documentation, and pre-test–post-test assessments. Expert validation indicated high feasibility with a score of 88% from both material and media experts. The product try-out involving eighth-grade students demonstrated significant improvement in learning outcomes, as shown by the increase in the mean score from 46.53 (pre-test) to 86.11 (post-test). A Paired Sample T-Test confirmed a significant difference (sig. 0.000 < 0.05), while the N-Gain score of 0.7437 indicated high effectiveness. The findings conclude that integrating Collaborative Learning and drama texts is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension, interaction, and motivation, making the developed material feasible and beneficial for Arabic language learning.

Social and educational dynamics have changed greatly due to the development of the digital era. This is especially true for social science (IPS) learning which must be more contextual, integrated and adaptive. By combining various social sciences, social studies strives to improve students' critical thinking and social understanding. However, social studies learning still faces problems such as fragmented disciplines and the use of partial learning approaches that are less able to describe the complexity of modern social realities. This discrepancy shows that the development of a complete epistemological framework has not been optimal, especially to deal with changes in the digital society. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to reconstruct integrated social studies learning based on relationality by using the literature review method. The method used is qualitative research with a literature review of relevant scientific articles during the period 2015–2025. The results of the study show that relationality is an epistemological foundation that is useful for integrating various social disciplines through an emphasis on the relationship between social phenomena. In addition, relational-based social studies learning reconstruction involves combining analytical, digital, and social dimensions in one learning framework. To answer the challenges faced by society in the digital era, this research emphasizes that building a social studies learning paradigm that focuses on relational and contextual content and understanding.

This study aims to develop a standard vocabulary book as a learning medium for Grade III students at SDN 2 Suwawa and to assess the level of feasibility and practicality of this medium. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) model utilizing the ADDIE approach, which encompasses the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the analysis showed that students still experienced difficulties in mastering standard vocabulary and lacked attractive learning media; therefore, teaching materials suitable for the characteristics of elementary school students were needed. The developed product was a vocabulary book containing a collection of standard words accompanied by simple illustrations and example sentences. Product validation was conducted by four experts: a media expert, a language and content expert, a subject-matter expert, and a teacher, who served as the user expert. The validation results showed that the media expert provided a feasibility percentage of 75% (Feasible), the language and content expert 90% (Very Feasible), the subject- matter expert 87% (Very Feasible), and the user expert 100% (Very Feasible). Overall, the average feasibility reached 88% and was categorized as Very Feasible. In the practicality test, the researcher used a teacher observation sheet and obtained a percentage of 100%, while the student observation sheet obtained a percentage of 97.5% with the category "very practical." The trial with Grade III students also yielded very positive responses, students felt helped in understanding standard vocabulary and showed increased interest in the learning process. Thus, the developed standard vocabulary book is considered feasible and effective for use as a learning medium to improve the mastery of standard vocabulary among Grade III students at SDN 2 Suwawa.

Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah menengah pertama memiliki peran penting dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berbahasa siswa, salah satunya keterampilan menulis. Keterampilan menulis cerpen merupakan kemampuan yang perlu dikembangkan karena dapat melatih kreativitas, imajinasi, serta kemampuan siswa dalam mengungkapkan gagasan secara tertulis. Namun, dalam praktik pembelajaran masih ditemukan berbagai kendala, seperti rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa dan kurangnya keterlibatan siswa dalam kegiatan menulis. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan motivasi serta partisipasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Salah satu model yang dapat digunakan adalah Project Based Learning (PJBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui manfaat penerapan model Project Based Learning dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen pada siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 23 Pontianak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 30 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Observasi digunakan untuk mengamati aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran, angket digunakan untuk mengetahui tingkat motivasi belajar siswa, sedangkan dokumentasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data berupa hasil karya cerpen dan dokumen pendukung lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Project Based Learning memberikan dampak positif terhadap motivasi dan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil angket, diperoleh rata-rata skor motivasi belajar siswa sebesar 62,4 yang berada pada kategori tinggi. Selain itu, hasil latihan soal menunjukkan rata-rata nilai 96 dengan kategori sangat baik, sedangkan hasil tes keterampilan akhir menunjukkan rata-rata nilai 76 dengan kategori baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PJBL tidak hanya meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa, tetapi juga berdampak pada peningkatan hasil belajar serta keterampilan menulis cerpen. Dengan demikian, model Project Based Learning dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang efektif dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah menengah pertama.

Public speaking is a essential skill that must be mastered by elementary school students, yet in reality, many students still experience anxiety and a lack of self-confidence. This study aims to determine the relationship between peer relationships and the self-confidence levels of fifth-grade students in public speaking within the classroom, conducted at an elementary school in the Leuwigoong area, Garut Regency. This research employs a quantitative correlational method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to fifth-grade students using a Likert scale. The data analysis technique utilized Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) assisted by SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that peer relationships have a positive and significant influence on students' self-confidence. In fact, a supportive environment from peers is proven to be a crucial supporting factor in reducing nervousness and increasing students' courage when expressing their opinions in front of the class. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of the teacher's role in creating a supportive classroom climate to build students' confident character.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Make a Match type cooperative learning model in improving students’ learning motivation in Social Studies (IPS) at SMP Negeri 4 Tarogong Kidul. This research employed a qualitative method with a field research approach. The subjects of this study were students and a Social Studies teacher selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through triangulation. The results showed that before the implementation of the Make a Match model, the learning process was dominated by the lecture method, which made students passive and less motivated. After the implementation, there was a significant improvement in students’ activeness and learning motivation. Students became more enthusiastic, actively participated, and showed greater confidence in asking questions and expressing opinions. In addition, the learning atmosphere became more interactive and enjoyable, which helped students understand the material better. In conclusion, the Make a Match cooperative learning model is effective in improving students’ learning motivation in Social Studies. This model can be used as an alternative innovative teaching strategy to create an active, creative, and enjoyable learning environment.

The transformation of study program management policies in higher education is a key factor in improving academic quality and student achievement. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the management policies of the Physical Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (FKIP UMS) in improving the academic and non-academic quality of students. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with students and alumni from across the 2017–2025 cohort as subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of the implementation of study program policies. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of systematic reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that policies based on internal quality assurance and the Outcome-Based Education curriculum are able to improve the quality of academic governance and the relevance of graduates to the needs of the workforce. The achievement of superior accreditation is an indicator of the success of consistent and sustainable academic policy implementation. The findings also indicate that academic flexibility policies and institutional support contribute to improving student non-academic achievement. The success of Tito Hendra Septa Kurnia Wijaya in winning a gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games is concrete evidence of the effectiveness of student athlete development policies. The dynamics of policies between leadership periods demonstrate continuity and innovation in study program management. The 2017–2021 period focused on strengthening governance and quality assurance, while the 2021–2025 period emphasized innovation, internationalization, and enhancing student achievement. This study concluded that adaptive, quality-based study program management policies can create a competitive educational ecosystem and produce graduates who excel academically and non-academically.

This research is motivated by the limited use of digital media and low motivation of students in learning to write descriptive texts at the junior high school level. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility of descriptive text teaching materials assisted by the CapCut application for grade VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Medan. The method used is research and development (R&D) with a 4D model that includes the stages of definition, design, development, and dissemination. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and questionnaires involving 27 students and validation by material experts, media experts, and subject teachers. The results of the needs analysis showed that 100% of students were interested in video-based learning, 96.2% stated that teachers had not used video media, and 88.8% stated that they needed video-based teaching materials. The resulting product is a video teaching material that combines text, audio, images, and animation using the CapCut application. Validation results showed that the feasibility percentage was 84.7% among material experts, 84% among media experts, and 97.5% among subject teachers. With an average rating of 88.7%, it can be concluded that the product in this study is very good/very suitable for use by teachers and students in learning. The results of this study indicate that the use of video-based media assisted by CapCut can increase student motivation and understanding in writing descriptive texts and is an effective alternative teaching material.
