Abstract

The limited reinforcement of responsible decision-making skills among elementary school students is caused by learning practices that remain cognitively oriented and the lack of contextual and local culture-based teaching materials. On the other hand, satua Bali, which is rich in moral values, has not been optimally utilized due to its conventional presentation and limited relevance to the lives of today’s digital generation students. This study aimed to develop a remake storybook of the Balinese folktale entitled Pan Balang Tamak, as well as to determine the validity and practicality of the developed storybook for elementary school students. This research employed a development research design using the ADDIE model, which consists of five main stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data was collected through a relevance scale to assess content validity and questionnaires to obtain user responses. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the content validity test indicated a very high category, with scores of 1.00 from the material expert, 1.00 from the media expert, and 0.9 from the language expert. The feasibility of the book as a learning resource was also supported by teacher responses, which reached 97.33% (very good qualification), and student responses, which reached 95.76% (very good qualification). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the developed remake storybook demonstrates a very high level of validity and practicality for use as a learning resource for elementary school students. The implications of this study indicate that the remake storybook Pan Balang Tamak can support the strengthening of cultural literacy and students’ character development, particularly in responsible decision making, when supported by collaboration between schools and the government in integrating traditional values into modern learning contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of climatic conditions, occupant behavior patterns, and their implications for the design of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems in residential buildings in the coastal subtropical region of Momochihama, Fukuoka. Using a descriptive qualitative literature review method, the research explores extreme environmental challenges such as high humidity and salt aerosol exposure. The findings indicate that the fluctuating subtropical climate necessitates the use of adaptive technologies such as Air-Source Heat Pumps and Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) for energy efficiency and humidity control. Furthermore, Japanese hygiene culture increases water and energy demands on plumbing and electrical systems. Design implications include the use of non-corrosive materials (PVC/HDPE) and stainless steel (SUS 316) to ensure material durability. System resilience is enhanced through the implementation of microgrids with battery energy storage and rainwater harvesting as strategies against extreme weather disasters. In conclusion, effective MEP design in subtropical coastal areas must synergize material resistance, understanding of local cultural behavior, and smart technology to achieve sustainable energy efficiency and thermal comfort.

Abstract

Indonesia’s diversity in ethnicity, culture, and religion represents both a valuable asset and a potential source of social conflict if not properly managed through tolerance. This study aims to examine how social and cultural diversity materials can foster tolerance and global diversity values among sixth-grade elementary students. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026. Out of 100 initial articles, 16 relevant studies were selected for in-depth analysis. The findings reveal that integrating multicultural values into social studies learning effectively enhances students’ tolerance. All reviewed studies confirm that contextual and experience-based approaches help transform students’ understanding of differences into real-life behavior. Learning that connects content with students’ social realities is more meaningful in shaping mutual respect. Therefore, diversity-related materials in social studies play a crucial role as a foundation for developing inclusive character and social skills, enabling students to navigate diversity in the future.

Abstract

Teaching English pronunciation to Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students remains challenging, especially given limited access to auditory input and the need to adapt teaching methods to students’ conditions. Although previous studies have highlighted the importance of multisensory approaches, there is still a limited explanation of how tactile techniques, such as vocal vibration, are used in real classroom situations. This study aims to explore the challenges teachers face, the strategies they use, and how the vocal vibration technique is implemented in teaching pronunciation. This research used a descriptive qualitative design and was conducted in a senior high school in Pekalongan, involving one class of 20 DHH students. The data were collected through classroom observations and teacher interviews and analyzed through thematic analysis, including coding, categorization, and interpretation. The results show that students have difficulties in perceiving sounds, monitoring their own pronunciation, and controlling their articulation. To address these challenges, teachers use repetition, multisensory strategies, and tactile techniques. The vocal vibration technique helps students improve their awareness of how sounds are produced, their pronunciation accuracy, and their class participation. However, the results vary depending on each student’s hearing level. Therefore, flexible and adaptive teaching approaches are needed to support pronunciation learning for DHH students.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the understanding that character education is not a new concept within the Islamic education system. In essence, the core of Islamic education is moral development, which is now commonly referred to as character education. This development is the responsibility of every Muslim individual, beginning with oneself, then extending to the family, and ultimately to society. However, since not all individuals are able to carry out this responsibility effectively, it is also undertaken by teachers (ustaz) and preachers (da’i) through both formal and non-formal educational institutions. In the Naqshbandi order, there is a method known as suluk or khalwat, which involves secluding oneself under the guidance of a mursyid (spiritual teacher). The true essence of suluk is not to attain worldly pleasures or divine favors, but solely to seek the pleasure of Allah. Despite ongoing debates regarding its conformity with Islamic law, suluk remains an interesting subject of study, particularly as described by Syeikh Muhammad Said Bonjol in his book Inilah Jalan Kepada Allah, where he refers to suluk as a “spiritual school.” This research employs a library research method by examining written sources, with the works of Syeikh Muhammad Said Bonjol as the material object and his educational thought as the formal object. The findings indicate that suluk is viewed as a method of character education aimed at purifying the soul, where the spiritual dimension serves as the leader of the physical body in human life.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the lineage of the qira’at of Imam ‘Ashim through the narration of Hafsh in the city of Medan, focusing on the transmission of the Qur’anic recitation chain (sanad) from teacher to student and how this chain contributes to the formation of religious traditions in North Sumatra. The method used is qualitative research with a historical-critical approach. Data were obtained from literature studies on the science of qira’at, manuscripts of tajwid books, interviews with Qur’an teachers in Medan, as well as observations in Islamic boarding schools and tahfiz institutions. The results show that the recitation practiced by the people of Medan entirely follows the qira’at of Imam ‘Ashim through the narration of Hafsh. The lineage of this recitation is connected through Nusantara scholars, particularly KH. Muhammad Moenawir (Yogyakarta) and KH. Munawwar (Gresik), whose chains of transmission are mutawatir back to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The tradition of Qur’an teaching in Medan, both in pesantren and in study circles (majelis taklim), continues to preserve the continuity of this sanad. This study demonstrates that the Islamic identity of the people of Medan cannot be separated from the heritage of the global qira’at sanad that originated in Kufah, then spread to the Nusantara, and eventually became firmly rooted in Medan.
