Abstract

This research aims to 1Understand Ridwan Kamil's political communication rhetoric strategy as the 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor Candidate. 2Examine the public hegemony towards Ridwan Kamil's campaign as the 2024 Jakarta Governor, who previously served as the Governor of West Java. The main focus of this analysis includes rhetorical characteristics, political communication strategies, and their impact on public perception. This research uses a qualitative approach and literature study, with sources of information through news on iNews and other relevant news. 1The conclusion of this research shows that Ridwan Kamil's rhetoric as the 2024 DKI Jakarta Candidate reflects a complexity that can be explained through Aristotle's theory, which includes elements of ethos (credibility), logos (rational argumentation), and pathos (emotional influence). The political communication strategy applied is oriented towards efforts to establish hegemony, as explained in Gramsci's theory, which is reflected through inclusive narratives and efforts to accommodate the various interests of the people of Jakarta. Thus, creating relaxed communication by combining technical language and simple delivery, and being able to create emotional closeness with the audience. 2In the construction of political discourse built by Ridwan Kamil as the 2024 Jakarta Governor, he is able to create an image as a “modern metropolitan leader”, although there are still public doubts regarding the effectiveness of the implementation of the programs promoted. Public perception of Ridwan Kamil's leadership competence shows a positive trend, although the hegemony process has not been fully successful because there are groups that still refuse to provide support. This research provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of political communication in the context of the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

Abstract

This study explores students’ perceptions of ice-breaking activities implemented by English teachers in the teaching process at SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. A quantitative descriptive design was employed, and data were collected through a questionnaire. The results indicate that students generally held positive perceptions of ice-breaking activities, particularly regarding their role in creating a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere. These activities were also perceived as effective in reducing anxiety, fostering comfort, and encouraging active participation and interaction among students. However, their influence on focus, concentration, and comprehension of lesson material was considered moderate, suggesting that ice-breaking activities serve primarily as motivational and social supports rather than direct tools for enhancing academic understanding. Overall, ice-breaking activities are regarded as beneficial supplementary strategies that can promote a positive classroom atmosphere, enhance students’ emotional readiness, and support increased engagement in English learning.

Abstract

This article, titled “Hidden Historical Wounds: The Story of Jugun Ianfu during the Japanese Occupation,” analyzes the practice of sexual slavery against Indonesian women during the Japanese occupation (1942–1945). The Jugun Ianfu system was well organized through the establishment of comfort stations (ianjo) for the benefit of the Japanese military. The recruitment process was carried out through fraudulent means, such as deception, coercion, intimidation, and even kidnapping, which resulted in many Indonesian women—including those who were very young—suffering both physically and mentally. The consequences were not only related to sexual violence and prolonged trauma, but also the social stigma they faced after returning to their communities. Using historical, sociological, and narrative analysis approaches, this study attempts to uncover a tragedy that is often ignored as a “national disgrace.” The results of the study show that Jugun Ianfu was not only a manifestation of Japanese hegemony over women, but also left deep historical wounds and became an important lesson to prevent similar atrocities from recurring in the future.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of secondary education financing policy through School Operational Assistance (BOS) and Regional Education Operational Assistance (BOPD) programs and their impact on access and quality at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar. The research employs a qualitative approach with instrumental case study design, utilizing in-depth interviews with key informants including school principals, finance vice-principals, teachers, and school committee representatives. Data analysis uses thematic analysis with inductive approach to identify patterns and themes related to policy implementation effectiveness. The findings reveal that financing policy implementation achieves 100% coverage for all public schools with National School Principal Numbers (NPSN), successfully eliminating financial barriers through the abolition of Monthly Student Fees (IBPD). The policy demonstrates transformative impact on educational access, particularly for students from economically disadvantaged families, supporting the 13-Year Compulsory Education program and equity principles. Strong positive correlation exists between adequate financing and educational quality achievement, with infrastructure and facilities identified as priority components for allocation. Strategic recommendations include reallocating book purchases from 10% to 5% and increasing infrastructure maintenance allocation from 20% to 25%, implementing priority-based financing model integrated with education quality report cards for enhanced policy effectiveness.

Abstract

This study analyzes teachers’ strategies in developing elementary school students’ tolerance attitudes through cultural diversity learning. The problem addressed is the limited understanding of diversity and the persistence of intolerant behaviors among students, highlighting the need for early character education. The purpose of this research is to identify effective strategies used by teachers to foster tolerance in elementary schools. This study employed a systematic literature review by examining ten relevant journal articles published between 2018 and 2025. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, including theme identification and synthesis of findings. The results indicate that dialogic discussions, cooperative learning, teacher modeling, habituation, and culture-based project learning are effective in strengthening students’ understanding, empathy, and inclusive attitudes. Consistent implementation and supportive classroom environments are key factors in successfully developing tolerance attitudes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of daily religious habituation to the development of a growth mindset among lower-grade students in Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah). The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design at MI Bahrul Ulum, Bengle Karawang. The participants consisted of the principal, three Islamic Education teachers/classroom teachers, and twelve students from grades one to three. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that structured and consistent daily religious habituation creates repeated behaviors within a stable context, leading to the formation of religious habits and self-regulation. Indicators of growth mindset were reflected in students’ willingness to retry after making mistakes, persistence in facing learning difficulties, repeated practice to achieve mastery, and a transformation of motivation from extrinsic to intrinsic orientation. The integration of empirical findings with habit formation and growth mindset theories resulted in a conceptual model demonstrating that daily religious habituation functions as a contextual pedagogical strategy that gradually fosters long-term learning dispositions. This study expands the discourse on religious habituation beyond moral character formation toward a psychopedagogical perspective in Islamic elementary education.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis indicates that ecological issues are rooted in the ethical and spiritual crises of modern humans. This article aims to conceptually examine the relationship between religious moderation and environmental responsibility within an Islamic perspective. Using a qualitative approach based on a literature review and content analysis, the study finds that religious moderation possesses an ecological dimension derived from the principles of wasathiyyah, tawāzun, and cosmic justice. The concepts of tawhid, khalifah, amanah, and the prohibition of israf form a normative framework that positions humans as responsible managers of the Earth. Thus, religious moderation serves as an Islamic ecological ethical paradigm relevant to responding to contemporary environmental crises
