Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of moral education in Al-Farabi’s philosophical perspective, focusing on the integration of intellect (‘aql) and virtue (faḍīla), and to examine its relevance in contemporary education. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, with primary sources derived from Al-Farabi’s major works, particularly Tahṣīl al-Sa‘āda and Ārā’ Ahl al-Madīna al-Fāḍila, analyzed through a descriptive-analytical framework. The findings indicate that, in Al-Farabi’s thought, intellect serves as the epistemological foundation for understanding goodness, while virtue represents its practical actualization. Their integration constitutes a prerequisite for the formation of a comprehensive moral character and the attainment of ultimate happiness (sa‘āda). These findings align with contemporary moral education paradigms emphasizing the integration of cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. This study concludes that Al-Farabi’s integrative framework of intellect and virtue is relevant as a philosophical foundation for developing holistic moral education. Its implication suggests that moral education should be designed integratively through reflective learning, value habituation, and social experience to foster comprehensive character development.

Abstract

Thinking process is a crucial aspect in mathematical problem solving that has rarely been examined comprehensively through a synthesis approach. The purpose of this investigation is to examine the profile of junior high school student’s thinking processes based on Polya’s mathematical problem-solving stages and identify the factors that influence them. A systematic literature review (SLR) in accordance with PRISMA 2020 standards is the methodology employed. Three databases, Google Scholar, Garuda, and SINTA were searched for articles from 2020 to 2026. Based on a selection process using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 14 articles were deemed eligible for synthesis. The synthesis results indicate that the thinking process profiles of junior high school students vary across each stage of Polya’s model. These variations in thinking processes were influenced by student’s internal factors, including prior mathematical ability, adversity quotient, gender, and emotional intelligence. These findings imply the need for mathematics learning that is designed with attention to the quality od student’s thinking processes at each stage rather than focusing solely on final answers. Problem-based learning and scaffolding are suggested as relevant strategies to support the comprehensive development of junior high school student’s mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Science process skills are one of the competencies that must be mastered in learning to foster a scientific mindset and problem-solving abilities. These skills help to develop students who are critical, creative, innovative and ready to compete on a global scale. In reality, science process skills are still not optimally stimulated in science learning, which tends to focus solely on conceptual or theoretical teaching. One learning model that can enhance science process skills is guided inquiry. This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning assisted by the board game on the science process skills of primary school pupils. The design used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The total sample size for the study was 54 pupils. Tests and questionnaires were used as data collection techniques. The results of the independent samples t-test showed that 0.00 < α = 0.05. This indicates that there is a significant effect of the implementation of guided inquiry learning supported by the board game on the science process skills of primary school pupils. Furthermore, the results of the questionnaire analysis regarding students’ responses to the implementation of guided inquiry learning were 98.52%, and those regarding the use of the board game as a learning tool were 99.63%. Both results indicate a positive response or interest from students in participating in the learning process.
