Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of third-grade students at SD Swasta HKBP Padang Bulan Medan in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject, particularly on the topic of Indonesian Landforms. The purpose of this study was to improve students' learning outcomes through the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles. The participants were 26 third-grade students of SD Swasta HKBP Padang Bulan Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and observation sheets of teacher and student activities. The results showed a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes in each cycle. In the pre-test stage, only 4 students (15.38%) achieved mastery learning with an average score of 44.53. After the implementation of the CTL model in Cycle I, the number of students achieving mastery increased to 9 students (34.61%) with an average score of 63.92. In Cycle II, the number of students achieving mastery learning increased to 20 students (76.92%) with an average score of 77.69. Teacher activity improved from 66% in Cycle I to 86% in Cycle II, while student activity increased from 58% to 80%. These findings indicate that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model effectively improves students' learning outcomes by connecting learning materials to students' real-life experiences. The study was considered successful because it achieved the predetermined success indicator, namely a classical learning mastery level of 75%.

Abstract

Early reading ability is a fundamental literacy competence for grade I elementary school students. Preliminary observations at SDN 2 Sukorejo, SDN 4 Sukorejo, and SDN 2 Gandusari showed that reading instruction was still dominated by conventional practices, while several students experienced difficulty recognizing letters, blending syllables, distinguishing similar phonemes, and reading simple words fluently. This study examined the effect and effectiveness of speech recognition-based interactive learning media on students’ early reading ability. The research used a quantitative quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 44 students: 32 students in the experimental group from SDN 2 Sukorejo and SDN 4 Sukorejo and 12 students in the control group from SDN 2 Gandusari. Data were collected through oral performance tests administered as pre-test and post-test, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, Independent Samples T-Test, and N-Gain. The findings showed that the experimental group obtained a higher post-test mean score than the control group. The t-test result indicated a significant difference with Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05. The experimental group obtained an N-Gain of 0.470, categorized as moderate, while the control group obtained 0.178, categorized as low. Thus, speech recognition-based interactive media significantly and more effectively improved students’ early reading ability compared with conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated instruction in developing the literacy skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 6 Selong. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The study was conducted during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, involving 20 fifth-grade students as the research participants. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of differentiated instruction was carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. During the planning stage, students’ learning readiness, literacy skills, and learning interests were identified as the basis for designing learning objectives, instructional materials, learning media, and assessments. During the implementation stage, differentiation was applied to content, learning processes, and learning products according to students’ characteristics. The implementation of differentiated instruction increased students’ engagement in reading activities, group discussions, and reading comprehension according to their learning abilities. Supporting factors included the availability of instructional materials, diverse learning media, and active student participation. Meanwhile, obstacles such as differences in students’ literacy abilities, limited instructional time, and limited reading materials were addressed through individual guidance, collaborative learning, and the use of various learning media. Therefore, differentiated instruction can accommodate students’ diverse learning needs and support the development of literacy skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education has opened new avenues for innovation, enhancing teachers' creativity in designing instructional media. This study aims to describe the use of AI in supporting teacher creativity during the development of digital instructional media specifically for poetry units in the Indonesian Language curriculu at SMP Negeri 3 Selong (Grade VIII). A qualitative approach with a descriptive research design was employed. The study focused on a Grade VIII Indonesian Language teacher with practical experience in using AI-based platforms to support professional tasks. Data collection involved non-participant observation and the analysis of teaching modules, instructional materials, and the resulting digital media products. Data analysis was conducted in stages using the interactive analysis model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the use of AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Canva AI significantly stimulates teacher creativity. AI acts as a catalyst for ideas, assisting the teacher in creating visual illustrations for poems, summarizing essential content, and generating interactive digital visualizations; these elements significantly boost student attention and classroom engagement compared to conventional methods. Nevertheless, fundamental challenges remain, including the critical need to verify information accuracy, the requirement for skills in crafting specific prompts, and concerns regarding potential student over-reliance on technology. The study concludes that while AI plays a vital role as a supporting tool that multiplies the efficiency and variety of instructional media, the teacher's essential presence as a character educator and emotional facilitator remains irreplaceable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of investment, labor, exports, imports, and government expenditure on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of East Java Province for the period 2011–2024. A quantitative approach employing multiple linear regression (Ordinary Least Squares) was applied to annual time series data sourced from BPS East Java, BKPM, and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) of the Ministry of Finance. Classical assumption tests including normality (Jarque-Bera), autocorrelation (Breusch-Godfrey LM Test), heteroscedasticity (Glejser), and multicollinearity (VIF) were all satisfied. Estimation results indicate that all independent variables simultaneously exert a significant effect on GRDP, with an F-statistic of 18.7517 (prob. 0.0003) and an R-squared of 0.9214. Partially, only labor demonstrates a positive and significant effect on GRDP (coefficient 0.167; prob. 0.0086), while investment, exports, imports, and government expenditure show no significant partial effect. These findings imply that enhancing the quality and quantity of the labor force is the primary determinant of East Java's economic growth, and that optimization of investment realization and reorientation of government spending toward more productive sectors are essential policy priorities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the early speaking skills of third-grade students at SDN Harapan Baru 01, Bekasi City, in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained from teachers and third-grade students. Data were collected using observation techniques, informal interviews with teachers, and oral tests. The results revealed that most students still have low early speaking skills, both in terms of fluency, word choice, sentence structure, intonation, and facial expressions. This condition indicates the need for more supportive learning approaches, such as project-based learning, role-playing, simple interviews, storytelling methods, and the use of media such as flipbook-based children's stories, podcasts, and audiovisuals, which can also be applied as innovative and enjoyable learning approaches. This research is expected to provide a basis for designing more effective methods or approaches to teaching speaking at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student engagement in science learning, which was still dominated by conventional teaching methods, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes on the water cycle topic among elementary school students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of the Challenge Based Learning (CBL) model on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Nologaten, Ponorogo District. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Control Group Pretest–Posttest design. The sample consisted of 50 students, including 25 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. Data were collected through a multiple-choice learning achievement test that had been validated and proven reliable. The data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample T-test with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The findings revealed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 87.44, while the control class obtained an average score of 71.12. The hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups. These findings demonstrate that the implementation of the Challenge Based Learning model is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes on the water cycle topic. The study implies that CBL can serve as an alternative instructional model for elementary science education because it promotes active participation, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and a deeper conceptual understanding compared with conventional learning methods, thereby supporting more meaningful and effective classroom learning experiences for elementary school students.
