Abstract

Consumptive behavior in online shopping is a common practice among college students, despite its potential negative impacts across various aspects of their lives. This study aimed to describe the prevalence of online shopping consumptive behavior, peer conformity, and self-control among students. It also analyzed the influence of self-control and peer conformity on online shopping consumptive behavior. The research adopted a quantitative approach with a survey method. A total of 125 students, selected through convenience sampling, participated by completing the Self-Control Scale, Conformity Scale, and Consumptive Behavior Scale. Data were analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression techniques. The findings revealed that online shopping consumptive behavior was categorized as moderate, while self-control and peer conformity were categorized as high. Additionally, hypothesis testing confirmed that self-control and peer conformity had significant effects on students' online shopping consumptive behavior. These results highlight the importance of developing targeted guidance and counseling programs in higher education to prevent and address students’ consumptive behavior. Such programs should focus on enhancing students’ self-control and promoting positive peer interactions, thereby fostering a supportive social environment for effectively managing consumptive behavior.

Empathy is essential for people working in various fields of life, such as business, education, medicine and more. Conversely, not having empathy can lead to criminality in various forms, such as psychopathic violence, rape, and child trafficking. Teachers and prospective teachers, therefore, must have the ability to instill empathy. This study aims to understand the various strategies and factors that influence the cultivation of empathy. The method used is the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which is a process of activities carried out in a participatory manner in learning with students. Direct involvement to conduct field observations, socialization and strengthening empathy towards students. The results showed that the cultivation of empathy can be done by first, increasing self-awareness through reflection on the various experiences that each student has; second, honing active listening skills; third, observing and recognizing children's emotions; and fourth, reading literature and case studies. While the challenge factors that need to be understood in strengthening the empathy of PIAUD students are emotional balance; lack of practical experience; and academic stress, namely the pressure of academic duties and responsibilities.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the significant influence of parental roles on students' resilience. The research method used in this study is a quantitative research method. The population in this study is all students of MAN 2 Pontianak City. Therefore, the sampling technique in this study is cluster random sampling. The sample size in this study is 30 respondents. The analysis method in this study is simple linear regression analysis. The measurement tools in this study use a resilience scale and a parental role scale. The reliability test used the alpha technique with Cronbach's Alpha Guilford > 0.80. The normality test used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with a result of 0.200, while the linearity test used the ANOVA tabel with a significance value of deviation from linearity of 0.325 > 0.05. The result of the simple linear regression test in this study was 0.017 < 0.05, which means the research hypothesis is accepted, indicating that there is an influence of parental role on students' resilience. The result of the determination test with an R Square of 0.186 indicates that the influence of the parental role variable on the resilience variable is 18.6%.

Abstract

Dietary trends have gained a lot of attention in the last ten years, particularly among young adults. A new reset point for dietary behavior modifications has been established by the Covid-19 pandemic. Indonesian dietary guidelines advocate a healthy, balanced diet based on the "what's on my plate" concept. This study aims to investigate the behavior of a balanced nutritional diet based on the principle of the contents of my plate in the student population at the Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Sciences, Kediri. This study is a qualitative study that adopts the analysis method from the Huberman and Miles framework. The research subjects were 96 students at the Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Sciences, Kediri. The results showed that more than half of the subjects 66.6% (n=64) had implemented balanced nutritional diet habits. A synthesis of research findings shows that the majority of subjects who adopt balanced nutritional diet habits are influenced by the belief that implementing dietary behavior will improve health status and reduce the risk of disease. Balanced nutritional diet habits adopted by students are in line with ecological systems theory and the health belief model behavior change theory.

Abstract

Toxic masculinity refers to social norms that encourage men to fulfil rigid standards of masculinity, such as obstinacy, emotional avoidance, and dominance, which often have a negative impact on mental health, including anxiety, depression, and difficulty building healthy social relationships. This study aims to explore the integration between psychology and Sufism as a more holistic approach in addressing the impact of toxic masculinity. The method used was qualitative analysis with a literature review, which included an understanding of toxic masculinity, psychological techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion Regulation Theory (ERT), and Sufism principles such as muhasabah, dhikr, and tazkiyah al-nafs. The results showed that while modern psychological approaches are effective in managing emotions and maladaptive thought patterns, integration with Sufism provides a deeper spiritual dimension in mental health recovery. With this integrative approach, men affected by toxic masculinity can manage their emotions and behaviours more effectively and achieve a balance between psychological and spiritual aspects. This study concludes that the integration of psychology and Sufism can be a more comprehensive and sustainable solution in addressing the problem of toxic masculinity in men.
