Abstract

This research is a report of Nation Character Education which has a purpose as an Effort to Build Religious Character. The author will try to overcome the moral degradation that occurs in students such as bullying, free promiscuity, rah-rah, hedonism by internalizing Asmaul Husna's values into reading courses by developing the learning of authentic reading materials. From here, religious character education will begin to be built.The results of the research include several things. The most important result is a product called a reading textbook that has been internalized with Asmaul Husna's values. This book is the development of authentic reading materials adapted to the syllabus in the reading course being taken by students of the English Education program especially the students of third Semester.The research methodology used in this research is Research and Development (R & D) which will be elaborated qualitatively. After conducted this research, it showed that the book product of authentic reading materials which had been internalized with Asmaul Husna was an effective way to build the students’ character as the effort to overcome the students’ moral degradation. 85% showed that students have a significant increase in their reading ability and also students continue to display increasingly improved behaviors after learning the Asmaul Husna values in their reading textbook. Keywords: Internalization of values, Asmaul Husna, Authentic Reading Materials, Building Religious Character.

Abstract

English is international language that used by people in this world to get something like knowledge, information, and communication. In Indonesia, English used as school subject because English is important to students’ future in their careers, especially interaction with foreigner, because in Indonesia many interesting destination for foreigner, media and technology use English to inform the information or knowledge. Those are reasons, Indonesian must be able to understand English especially in words meaning in English, because translation is important to know information which use English media. ). For this research, the researchers use descriptive analysis research. The researchers directly find accurate data of difficulties in translating from source language into target language or SL into TL. The researchers have got students’ test result, based on the result it shows that the students still confuse to convey the meaning from source language, the students translate the text word by word and the meaning not deliver, and the researchers have got students’ test result, based on the result it shows that the students could not to use equivalent, they still lack of vocabulary mastery, they could not translate the sentence, because in English one word has many meaning, and confuse how to use equivalent words in translation that they states from interview “i still lack of vocabulary mastery” and “in English one word many meaning thus we could not translate the sentence because depend on the topic”.

Abstract

This research aims to motivate and improve Primary School Teacher in English skills. Based on Mulyanah's research  2018, there were 70% of English teachers were found by non-linear based on their previous study and based on TOEFL scores the teacher's lack of competence of English skill and they need interesting teaching media to improve their skill by using English instructions book to maintain the initial motivation, maintain the curiosity and interest of the teachers to develop a desire to learn languages, especially in English easily and quickly. In this research, the descriptive quantitative approach is selected by the researcher with a quasi-experimental design and non-equivalent design control group using pre-test and post-test, experimental and control group to find out the results after treatment given. The sample are 20 English teachers of Primary school in Tangerang, Indonesia. The research is divided into several of processes, pretest, 6 times for the treatments and the last posttest. The results of the research are 1) Increased teacher motivation in learning English, 2) Increased confidence using English both inside and outside the classroom. 3) 0.6% increased teacher competence in their English skills.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine what causes students 'anxiety about students' English speaking skills. In this study, researchers used qualitative research. For collecting and retrieving research data the researcher using questionnaire, interviews and observations. Researchers involve teachers and students. The researchers take samples in class VII. A where the researcher only took 10 students to be sampled. In this research the researchers conduct classroom observations and provide questionnaire in which students must answer from the 25 questions. The researcher also interviewed one of the English teachers who taught in the class. Here, the researchers used FLCAS to recap the results of the student's questionnaire. In the FLACS questionnaire, the researcher has found the similarities from what the teacher had said in the interview. The students were always anxious in the situations such as; when their names were called by the teacher, when they could not understand what the teacher has said, when they were asked to talk English in the classroom, when they think they will be the laugh stock of their friends as they speak in English. From the FLCAS questionnaire have also supported the findings from the observation. From the questionnaire, some of the students’ respond toward the items showed that they would be the most anxious when they were asked to perform speaking task. Abstract

This research aimed at analyzing translation accuray of student translation between the source language (SL) in Bahasa and target language (TL) in English and finding out the translation process used by student at Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang. The object of this research is 6th Grade Student at Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang. The researcher focuses on the accuracy of student translation results in range accurate, less accurate and inaccurate based on Accurate Translation Rate proposed by Nababan (2012). The researcher also analyzes the translation process based on Nida and Taber’s theory (1969). In conclusion, researcher found that the accuracy of translation is rated by a lecturer of English Education Study Program of Teachers Training and Education Faculty of Muhammadiyah Tangerang with the results  83,1% translations are accurate, 15,3% translations are less accurate and 1,6.% translation are inaccurate. While, the researcher found that most of translation process used by students is non sequentially process (71%), and the sequentially process is 29%.

Abstract

AbstractThe research is aimed to investigate whether there is an effect of the Boggle game on vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at MTs. Nurul Hikmah. The design used was quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent control group design. The subject of population in this research is seventh-grade students of MTs Nurul Hikmah. The sample of this research were 60 students, who were classified into 30 students of experimental class and 30 students of controlled class. The technique of collecting data with used the research instrument was a test consisting of a pre-test and post-test. The results of thisresearch stated that the used of Boggle games in learning vocabulary affected students' vocabulary mastery. This can be seen from the t-test results of pre-test and post-test at a significance level of 5% (0.05) alpha and degrees of freedom of 2.00, where the t-count of pre-test is higher than the t-table (2.03 > 2.00) with the average pre-test score of the experimental class was higher than the average pre-test score of the control class (49.47 > 42.60) and the t-count of post-test is higher than the t-table (5.75> 2.00) with the average post-test score of the experimental class was higher than the average pre-test score of the control class (83.50 > 73.10). It can be concluded that there is significant effect of Boggle game on the seventh grade students’ vocabulary mastery at MTs. Nurul Hikmah. It means that the Boggle game is effective in learning vocabulary mastery for the seventh-grade students of MTs Nurul Hikmah. By using the Boggle game, the teaching and learning process becomes more interesting. Key words: Boggle Game, Vocabulary Mastery.

Abstract

Speaking is a productive skill with requires the interactive and performance process. To be able to improve and represent student’s capability in their speaking skill, student also need to drill and practice their speaking as the academic presenter, because if they able to speak academically, their speaking skill will get well improvement automatically. This research is aimed to investigate student’s speaking performance while they have academic speaking practice. The population of this research is 4th semester student of Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang, located in Cikokol-Tangerang. The sample is single sample. To find the data, researcher use video record originally from the speaker then doing the analysis with triangulation validity. This research showed that students speaking performance is need to be treating well, especially in their self-confident and vocabulary master, because it will be impossible for them to be a good speaker if they have lots of anxiety.
