Abstract

Hypoalbuminemia is a risk factor for medical treatment. Albumin has been shown to be a predictor in a number of studies in various settings. Several studies examined albumin as a marker of nutritional status and its association with outcomes (eg, mortality and length of hospital stay). In critical illness, the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE III) risk score includes serum albumin levels and shows a strong inverse correlation between serum albumin and mortality in critically ill patients. This research was conducted observationally to analyze the use of oral albumin and the factors that influence the success of therapy in the Lung Inpatient Room at Dr Soetomo Regional Hospital for the period 1 January – 31 October 2022. Patients diagnosed with Community Pneumonia, Lung Cancer and Lung Tuberculosis. This research was carried out by collecting secondary data via e-medical records. Data taken were patient demographic data (name, gender, weight, age, length of stay) and albumin data before and after receiving oral albumin. From the research results, the number of samples was 87. The number of samples was 87 patients. Of the 87 patients, 66 male patients (75.86%) were 21 female patients (24.14%), the largest age range was 51 - 60 years, 21 patients (24.14%). The highest body weight ranged from 61-70 kg for 50 patients (57.47%), the longest length of stay ( Length of Stay ) was 10-20 days for 45 patients (51.72%). The most common primary diagnosis was new tuberculosis in 42 patients (48.28%). The highest use of oral albumin was more than 100 capsules, as many as 20 patients (22.99%) with the highest duration of use being 10-19 days, namely 38 patients (43.68%). The statistical results show that there is no significant difference between before receiving oral albumin and after receiving oral albumin with a value of P = 0.541. Factors that influence the success of oral albumin therapy are length of stay with a value of P = 0.001 * Keywords: Oral albumin, pulmonary tuberculosis, lung cancer, pneumonia, length of stay

Abstract

One of the cosmetics that is widely used topically is lotion, which consists of two phases that do not mix, and can be stabilized using an emulsifying agent. Cetyl alcohol and cera alba have properties as softeners, emulsifiers and absorb water which were chosen as emulsifying agents because they can improve the texture of the preparation. The aim of this research was to see the effect of varying concentrations of cetyl alcohol and cera alba as emulsifying agents in VCO lotion preparations. The research design in this study was pre-experimental with the lotion formula divided into 4 sample groups with different concentrations of cetyl alcohol and cera alba. Physical property tests carried out include organoleptic tests, pH tests, homogeneity tests, spreadability tests and lotion type. The results showed that variations in the concentration of cetyl alcohol and cera alba did not show differences in organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability and type of lotion for all formulas. It can be concluded that in making VCO lotion with varying concentrations of cetyl alcohol and cera alba it does not affect the physical properties of the lotion

Abstract

Morus alba (mulberry) root contains a secondary metabolite of oxyresveratrol with its potential skin-brightening activity. The application of the green extraction method using Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction with Natural Deep Eutectic Solution (NADES-UAE) was developed because of its advantages, namely it can increase extract yields, low toxicity profile, reduce extraction time, shorter extraction stages without evaporation, and can be applied directly in topical preparations for cosmetic products. To ensure the potential for skin-brightening activity, some activity tests on mulberry root extract are needed. The purpose of this study was to determine the in vitro skin-brightening activity of mulberry root extract using NADES-UAE method. The method used was an in vitro tyrosinase enzyme inhibition test using a microplate reader and an antioxidant activity test using the DPPH method. The IC50 value of the best mulberry root extract (glycerin: urea 1:3 for 15 minutes) showed tyrosinase inhibition activity was 178.43 μg/mL. While the IC50 value in the best antioxidant activity test was 1392.14 μg/mL. Tyrosinase inhibitory and antioxidant activities in three samples showed the best results having the highest oxyresveratrol content. NADES-UAE mulberry root extract has the potential as a cosmetic preparation for skin lightening and has antioxidant effects for skin health.

Abstract

Eleutherine Bulbosa is one of the plants cultivated by the community for traditional medicine. It's like lowering hypercholesterolemia. Hypercholesterolemia is a condition characterized by high levels of cholesterol in the blood. Besides, it can also lower hypertension. Hypertension is a condition in which blood pressure exceeds the normal limit, with systolic pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg. The study aims to look at the effectiveness of the Eleutherine Bulbosa ethyl acetate fraction against the reduction in total cholesterol levels, systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure in male white rats. Animal cholesterol levels were raised using MLT for 22 days. Cholesterol parameters were tested using a Dumolab DC20 photometer. The inducer used to raise blood pressure is 8% NaCl for 14 days. Blood pressure is measured using non-invasive blood pressure. (NIBP). The results of the research showed that the flavonoid groups that play a role in lowering high cholesterol levels are the anthocyanins and quercetin, while the alkaloid compounds play a part in lowering high blood pressure. Data analysis showed significant results (p<0.05). It can be concluded that the administration of the ethyl acetate fraction Eleutherine Bulbosa is capable of lowering high cholesterol levels and high systolic-diastolic blood pressure.

Abstract

Liver cirrhosis is a pathological liver disease characterized by the formation of fibrous tissue and regenerative nodules in liver cells. The potential for hepatotoxicity due to the use of hepatotoxic drugs leads to worsening of the liver disease suffered by these patients. This study aims to assess the impact of using potentially hepatotoxic drugs on patients' clinical outcomes. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected retrospectively through the medical records of patients with liver cirrhosis hospitalized in 2021. The clinical outcomes studied were SGOT, SGPT, albumin, total bilirubin and length of hospitalization. The results obtained were tested using the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test. A total of 62 patients with liver cirrhosis met the inclusion criteria as the study sample. The number of potentially hepatotoxic drug prescriptions received by patients based on Likelihood scores with categories A, B, C, D and E was 368 drugs out of 776 total drug prescriptions (47.4%). The most commonly prescribed potentially hepatotoxic drugs were paracetamol, ceftriaxon, and levofloxacin. It can be concluded that potentially hepatotoxic drugs are still prescribed to patients with liver cirrhosis. Age, gender, child pugh-score, number of drugs, and number of potentially hepatotoxic drugs had no significant effect (p>0.1) on SGOT, SGPT, albumin and total bilirubin. However, patients who received more drugs would have a higher.
