Abstract

Research on positive psychology has widely grown since its emergence.  The strength of the human becomes a key point of positive psychology to explore, such as self-efficacy, optimism, self-control, etc.  This research applied positive psychology to evaluate the role of social-emotional health on the academic achievement of college students. There were 107 first year psychology students of the Islamic University of Indonesia participating this study.  Data were collected using the Social Emotional Health Survey System (SEHS-S) developed by Jones, You, and Furlong (2012) and Grade Point Average (GPA) of students. Data analysis showed that Social Emotional Health was correlated with GPA. Three domains within Social Emotional Health Survey System such as belief in self, emotional competence, and engaged living were positively correlated with GPA. However, belief in others does not correlate with GPA.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to uncover and gain some factual data about locus of control (LOC) ability to overcome depression in late adolescence. This study was conducted through survey methods on new under-graduate students aged 18 to 21 years old from English Education program in Mathla’ul Anwar University of Banten at first semester of academic year 2015-2016. The result of study showed that majority of the students has internal LOC. The sudents who have external LOC tend to get more depressed than those who pose internal LOC. The numbers of women who get depressed are more than men. The finding also showed positive influence of reading book in gaining capacity of LOC. Depression can be avoided and prevented by spiritual and mental strengthening, such as being closer to God, spending quality time with parents, siblings and friends, doing some new hobbies and activities, getting involved in fun daily activities, and trying to identify sense of fear of being rejected or guilty feelings.

Abstract

This research was aimed at examining the role of perception of career development and organizational support on the organizational commitment. This study involved seventy nurses of Badan Pelayanan Kesehatan Rumah Sakit Daerah “Mardi Waluyo” Blitar as the subjects of the research. The research data were collected using three scales, that are, scale of perception of career development, organizational support, and organizational commitment.  The hypothesis was that the organizational commitment could be predicted from the perception of career development and organizational support. The data were analyzed with multivariate regression analysis.The results of this research showed that perception of career development and organizational support had very significant role on organizational commitment (F: 6.589; R2 = 0.164; p = 0.003), beside that, perception of career development had very significant with organizational commitment (F = 12.922; r = 0.161; p = 0.001), but the organizational support with organizational commitment was insignificant (F = 0.257; r = 0.003; p = 0.620).Keywords: organizational commitment, career development, organizational support.

Abstract

The Effect of Emotional Intelligence Against Student Achievement aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence which consists of self awareness, self management, Motivation, social awareness, relationship management partially and simultaneously on learning achievement. Respondents are students of SMP Negeri 4 Lalan Bumi Agung  Vilage Musi Banyuasin Regency to be 135 people. Methods of data analysis using regression analysis techniques. Partial assay results (t-test) showed emotional intelligence consists of Self awareness, self management, Motivation, social awareness, relationship management positive and significant effect on learning achievement. Simultaneous Test Results (Test-F) emotional intelligence consists of Self awareness, self management, motivation, social awareness, relationship management and significant positive effect on learning achievement. Social awareness is more dominant influence on learning achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: Expectations of society, which until now has not significantly met by the world of education in Indonesia, it becomes a challenge to improve the quality of education. The rise of the brawl, the case of drugs and free sex among students makes people pessimistic about the quality of education and educational output. Associated with the various problems that come across, character building of young generation ago into something that absolutely must be done. An understanding of identity, duties, and responsibilities of students, and also habituation to the values and norms in the community becomes a necessity that must be installed. Counseling services as a form of education play a major role in providing assistance to students in order to achieve optimal development. Achieving optimal developmental tasks, and effectively became the foundation of character formation of students and the fulfillment of the expectations of society toward education.Keyword: Character, Counseling Services, Education

Abstract

Abstract: The process of preparing to take the test SNMPTN is something that often makes prospective students experiencing various problems. I prepare for the selection of the necessary physical, material, and also psychological. This research was initiated from the problems that occurred in the preparation of the admission public universities by students coming from private schools . These problems such as high school rules violations / lack of discipline, learn less motivated to learn. This condition greatly affects the readiness of students to achieve success SNMPTN pass. This study aimed to describe the readiness of high school students college entrance exams and the role of BK teacher / school counselor. The study population is students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Metro are 212 students. This type of research is quantitative descriptive, and the questionnaire used as an instrument of collecting data. The results showed that the average score of 80.53 with an average percentage of 26.84%, are in the category is not ready. BK teacher's role in preparing students in private schools that help students related to school by making a counseling program, either individually or in the classical style. Increase cooperation with fellow teachers and parents and guardians to fostering the development of children's potential.Keywords: Readiness, Students, Counselor role

Abstract

This article discusses the developing of conceptual framework of gusjigang counseling model as a manifestation of local wisdoms hold by the people of Kudus regency. Gusjigang is a philosophy of life taught by Sunan Kudus (one of the nine Java island’s first Muslim missionaries) which teaches men to have a good behavior (gus), to be good at reciting Koran (ji) as well as trading (gang). Gusjigang counseling model is close to Islamic counseling nuance which sets out the Islamic values of Kudus people who have been widely known as religious people. The goals of this counseling model are to develop men's virtuous characters, scientific and systematic thoughts, and improve persistence, creativity, innovativeness to survive.

Abstract

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa, permasalahannya apakah layanan konseling kelompok dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan layanan konseling kelompok dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain eksperimen pre-test post-test one group, dengan menggunakan subjek penelitian sebanyak 8 orang siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Punggur Lampung Tengah Tahun Pelajaran 2007/2008 yang memiliki motivasi belajar rendah.Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa dengan penggunaan layanan konseling kelompok. Hal ini terbukti dari adanya peningkatan skor pre test 61.50 kemudian setelah dilaksanakan layanan konseling kelompok skor post test 72.13, yang berarti ada peningkatan skor sebesar 10.63.Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa layanan konseling kelompok dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Saran yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1). Kepada guru pembimbing (Guru BK), hendaknya dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajarnya dengan menggunakan layanan konseling kelompok, (2). Kepada peneliti lainnya, hendaknya dapat melakukan penelitian mengenai motivasi belajar terhadap subjek yang berbeda dengan menggunakan teknik/model konseling lainnya, (3). Tenaga kependidikan lainnya dapat menjadi motivator dan fasilitator belajar yang baik bagi siswa.

Abstract

Violence in children is a physical act of aggression by parents who can cause trauma and even bring death to children. Purpose of research: 1. knowing the appropriate role of  parenting; 2. knowing the acts of violence on children; 3. knowing the source of learning to avoid acts of violence on children. Research method used qualitative description, data collection: observation and interview in the form of discussion. The result of research: Parenting role consists of authoritarian, democratic, authoritative, and permissive. Violence occurs in children in the form of physical, psychological, and economic violence. Learning resources that can be utilized in an effort to avoid acts of violence in children can be made based on material elements or messages, people, and materials.

Abstract

Performance is a form of behavior of a person or organization with achievement orientation. The study results are known (a) the school climate affect performance of teachers, b) there is influence of work stress on teacher performance, (c) work motivation effect on teacher performance, d) school climate influence on job motivation of teachers, and (e) work stress effect on work motivation of teachers. Suggestions studies (a) improving teacher performance should the top priority schools in school management efforts. This condition given that performance of teachers are the main pillars that determine the success of the school in improving quality of students. Therefore, performance of the teacher must always be good and necessary to update the knowledge of teachers on the latest information in education as benchmarks increase teacher performance, (b) job motivation of teachers needs to improved, among others, with reward and punishment impartial towards the success achieved by the teacher as well as the violations committed so that it becomes part of an effort to motivate teachers to work.
