Abstract

Improving the scientific literacy of teacher-training students majoring in elementary education is important in training elementary science education talents in colleges and universities before teaching their prospective students. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of elementary education teacher-training students' learning the course Fundamentals of Natural Science by developing a mental state questionnaire and a science literacy quiz. The results showed that teacher-training students majoring in elementary education had higher mental states in the course learning process, and their academic achievement was significantly different in terms of background variables such as gender and birth origin. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between mental states and academic achievement. A multidimensional assessment of academic achievement based on mental status will help develop elementary education students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

This systematic review of the last seven years aims to identify and analyze emotional engagement in academic writing or undergraduate thesis. Referring to Pekrun's academic, emotional theory, the object focus in writing a thesis is loaded with emotional content besides cognitive and social aspects. The discrepancy between the error and the targeted plan evokes positive and negative emotions. Ten relevant studies in the literature search between 2016-2022 are included in the review, indicating that the research theme requires the attention of researchers to develop further studies. The results of the review show that anxiety is the dominant emotion students feel when writing their undergraduate thesis in various countries. The review results are grouped into theoretical basis, research methods, and relevant results. Implications for future research indicate that self-regulation and strengthening the social environment bring positive consequences in writing an undergraduate thesis. Meanwhile, the study’s limitations are related to the inclusion criteria that are too restrictive.

Abstract

The key to the progress of a nation is through education. The benchmark for the success of a good education system arrangement is when educational institutions make the National Education Standards an indicator of Quality and Educational Services. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to identify Education Ecology in improving educational service standards and implementation strategies in education through synergy with educational ecology. The research method used is descriptive with a literature review. The data obtained were collected through the literature related to content analysis. The accuracy of the study and preventing misinformation in data analysis is then carried out by triangulation between literature review and member checking. This study obtained information about the ecology of education to achieve the quality of Education Service Standards. Education Service Standards are basic services, which are public services containing a mandate that contains main points as signs or guidelines in the implementation of education. Ecology offers a conception of the MSS-Education implementation strategy through synergy between each component in the education ecosystem. In other words, the environment is an important consideration in optimizing the implementation of education in Indonesia.
