Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model on student interest and learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 4 Seluma. The method used is a quasi-experimental (Quasi Experiment) with a randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The results showed that students' interest and learning outcomes in the experimental class (XI IPA 1) were higher than the control class (XI IPA 2) with a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000. In conclusion, the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is effectively used as a learning model for students' interest and learning outcomes in biology at school. Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity of ground insects and develop a flipbook in Sumberharta Village, Musi Rawas Regency. The method used is VES (Visual Encounter Survey). The ecological index was analyzed using the Shannon Wiener formula. The data collection on the development of the ground surface insect flipbook in Sumberharta Village, Musi Rawas Regency, refers to the stages of development research according to Borg & Gall. The results showed that the diversity of soil surface insects in Sumberharta village had an H value index of 1.036 and a uniformity of 0.154. The results of the flipbook development carried out by three validators and the practicality test of Biology Education students of STKIP-PGRI Lubuklinggau through small group trials of 20 people showed that the flipbook developed obtained a score of 88.2%. In conclusion, the diversity of soil surface insects in Sumberharta village is low, with the index value in the small and depressed category. The flipbook developed is very feasible and practical. Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in the planting media of kolang kaling fruit peel waste and coffee skin on the height, number of leaves and leaf width of begonia plants. The method used in this research is a quantitative experimental method with two treatments of growing media, namely the waste of kolang kaling fruit peel and coffee rind waste. Data collection techniques using observation sheets. The results of observations on the growth of begonias were analyzed using independent t-test. The results showed that there was a difference in begonia plant height with the value of Sig. of 0.648. The number of begonia plant leaves obtained the value of Sig. by 0.007 and the width of the leaves of begonia plants by 0.309. In conclusion, there are differences in the use of planting media for waste skin of kolang kaling fruit and coffee husk waste planting media on the number of leaves on begonia plants. Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition factors and the relationship between the length and weight of thorn fish in the waters of the Barumun River, Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra. The method used is the sampling method. The results showed that the total number of samples obtained during the study was 41 fish with a total length of thorn fish that was 20.8 cm - 25.1 cm and the average length of fish caught was 23.41 cm. Meanwhile, the weight of thorn fish is 72 g to 126 g, and the average fish weight is 106.2 g. In conclusion, the growth pattern of thorn fish in the Barumun Labuhanbatu River, North Sumatra, is a negative allometric. The condition factors in thorn fish indicate that the Barumun River environment supports the growth of thorn fish and has a balanced status. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of open peatland areas on ant diversity. This research method uses a quantitative descriptive approach by collecting ant samples using the pitfall traps method. The results showed that the total number of ant species found in this study was 129. In natural peat forests, 113 species were found from 3660 individuals and in open peatland found 49 species from 5976 individuals. The diversity index is 2.38 in natural peat forests and the diversity index is 1.91 in open peatland. In conclusion, the number of ant species decreases with the open area. Abstract

This study aims to determine butterflies' species composition and species diversity in the Siabu area. The sampling method in this study used two ways, namely direct sampling using insect nets (transect count and netting) and bait traps along the transect (500 m transects in each habitat). The results showed that the number of individuals ranged from 109-114 (steppe-secondary forest) individuals and the number of species ranged from 19-52 species (pasture-secondary forest). The secondary forest has an index of species diversity and evenness of species, namely H'= 3.63 and E= 0.92 and grasslands have H'= 2.31 and E= 0.78. In conclusion, the diversity index value of the Siabu Village area is in the high category. In addition, there is one rare and protected butterfly species included in the CITES Appendix II list, namely Trogonoptera brookiana, which is found in secondary forest. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of wing color on the posture and duration of sunbathing of the butterflies Junonia hedonia and Junonia atlites. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with a side method in purposive sampling. Data were collected by following and recording the butterfly sunbathing activity for 120 seconds, measuring air temperature and light intensity. The object of this research is Junonia atlites and J. hedonia. The results showed that J. atlites and J. hedonia demonstrated appressed and/or horizontal postures with the highest frequency (94.44% and 63.33%) in the morning. On the other hand, this frequency decreases in subsequent times. In conclusion, wing color has no effect on the posture displayed and the duration of sunbathing in both species is getting shorter when the air temperature is increasing, but there is no significant effect between the two. The duration of basking is not affected by the color of the wings. Keywords: Butterfly, Sun Behavior, Wing Color

Abstract

This study aims to determine the composition and diversity of long antenna beetles. This research method is descriptive quantitative. Data collection techniques using transects and Artocarpus traps. The two types of habitat studied in this study are secondary forest and residential areas. The results showed that there were 49 individuals from 12-7 species (secondary forest-resident settlements) that belonged to one subfamily, the subfamily Lamiinae. The diversity index value obtained in the two habitat types is in the "medium" category with a value of H'= 1.86-2.22 and the evenness index value is in the "high" category with a range of E = 0.78-0.89 with a similarity value of 0.21. In conclusion, the highest beetle diversity was found in secondary forest (with a moderate category) compared to residential areas. Keywords: Diversity, Long Antenna Beetle, Lamiinae, Artocarpus Trap

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the antibacterial activity of the root extract of the Suku Anak Dalam bamboo grass (Lophatherum gracile) against cough-causing bacteria (Streptococcus sp). The method used is laboratory-based experimental research with analytical descriptive type to test the root extract of bamboo grassroots on Streptococcus sp. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively by subtracting the diameter of the inhibition zone formed from the diameter of the disc that had been soaked with Lophatherum gracile extract. The treatments used consisted of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% and positive control using amoxicillin. The results showed that at a concentration of 20%, the average inhibition zone formed was 2.03 mm, 40% concentration was 2.27 mm, 60% concentration was 2.61 mm, 80% concentration was 2.72 mm, 100% by 3.1 mm and positive control by 12 mm. In conclusion, bamboo grass root has a weak antibacterial ability and needs to be combined with other ingredients if you want to use it as cough medicine.
