Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of acetic acid-based pH adjustment on the mechanical properties and whiteness stability of polyester knitted fabrics. The method employed was an experimental approach using varying acetic acid concentrations (0–12%) to generate different pH conditions, followed by testing fabric pH, bursting strength, and phenolic yellowing according to AATCC, ASTM, and ISO standards. The results showed that increasing acetic acid concentration significantly reduced fabric pH. Lower pH conditions improved whiteness stability by reducing yellowing tendency; however, excessive acidity led to decreased mechanical strength. The relationship among pH, mechanical strength, and aesthetic quality exhibited a non-linear pattern with a trade-off between parameters. In conclusion, an optimum pH range was identified to balance mechanical performance and whiteness stability, providing potential contributions to process optimization and quality improvement in polyester textile finishing. Abstract

This study aimed to delineate the distribution of faults and fractures in the Cihideung Segment using the Fault Fracture Density (FFD) method based on high-resolution LiDAR topographic data from BMKG in 2024. The LiDAR-based Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data were processed into multi-azimuth hillshade images, followed by visual interpretation of morphological lineaments digitized as polylines. The density of lineament lengths was then calculated within specific grid units to generate an FFD map for identifying structural deformation zones. The results indicate several zones with high lineament density that follow the main trace of the Lembang Fault and its associated branches, particularly around Cihanjuang Rahayu, Cigugur Girang, Gudangkahuripan, and Pagerwangi. These zones are interpreted  as  areas  experiencing  the  most intensive deformation and therefore have important implications for spatial planning, earthquake hazard mitigation, and landslide risk management in the study area. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of fermentation duration on the chemical characteristics of melon peel kombucha (Cucumis melo L.), including vitamin C content, antioxidant activity, alcohol content, and pH value. The research method used was an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of one factor, namely fermentation duration of 8, 10, and 12 days. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test followed by Duncan’s multiple range test. The results showed that fermentation duration had a significant effect (p < 0.05) on vitamin C content, antioxidant activity, and alcohol content, but had no significant effect on pH value because the pH range remained relatively narrow and stable under acidic conditions during fermentation. The best treatment was obtained at 10 days of fermentation, with vitamin C content of 107.77 mg/100 g and antioxidant activity of 56.21%, while the lowest alcohol content was found at 12 days of fermentation at 0.5% with a pH value of 4.26. In conclusion, a fermentation period of 10 days was considered the optimum condition for producing melon peel kombucha.  Keywords: Antioxidant, Fermentation, Kombucha, Melon Peel, Vitamin C.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the growth of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeast during Sourdough fermentation with the addition of passion fruit juice (Passiflora edulis Sims). Sourdough is a fermented dough used as a natural leavening agent in bread making; however, its non-specific aroma is considered one of its weaknesses and reduces consumer interest. The addition of passion fruit juice was intended to improve the aroma characteristics of Sourdough due to the fruit’s distinctive and strong aroma. The methods used in this study included total lactic acid bacteria count and total yeast count to analyze microbial growth during fermentation. The results showed that the populations of LAB and yeast changed throughout the fermentation process in each treatment. The highest LAB count was obtained in treatment P2 on the fifth day, reaching 248.34 × 10⁷ CFU/ml, while the highest yeast  count  was  found  in  treatment  P3  on  the fifth day, reaching 130.01 × 10⁷ CFU/ml. In conclusion, the addition of passion fruit juice affected the microbial dynamics during Sourdough fermentation. The concentration of passion fruit juice and fermentation time played important roles in the growth of LAB and yeast in Sourdough.  Keywords: Lactic Acid Bacteria, Fermentation, Yeast, Sourdough

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the potential of phytochemical compounds from Cassia alata leaves — emodin, chrysophanol, rhein, kaempferol, quercetin, and physcion — as antibacterial candidates against the FtsZ protein (Staphylococcus aureus, PDB ID: 4DXD), the cause of impetigo. The method used was molecular docking. The results showed that kaempferol had the best binding affinity (-9.6 kcal/mol), followed by rhein and quercetin (-9.2 kcal/mol), with key interactions consisting of hydrogen bonds at residues THR309, ASN263, and GLY196, as well as hydrophobic interactions at residues LEU200 and VAL297. All compounds complied with Lipinski's Rule of Five (0 violations, bioavailability 0.55–0.56) and were non-carcinogenic, although some showed hepatotoxicity potential (LD50 1190–5000 mg/kg, class IV–V); bioactivity prediction further confirmed high antibacterial potential. In conclusion, kaempferol and rhein were recommended as promising candidates for further verification, given the existing resistance to antibiotics such as levofloxacin.  Keywords: Cassia alata, FtsZ, Kaempferol, Molecular Docking
