Abstract

In the era of globalization and digital disruption, secondary educational institutions such as Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic Junior High Schools) face increasing exposure to foreign cultural influences that risk alienating younger generations from their cultural identity, particularly in Indonesia's 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas). This study aims to formulate a model for integrating the local wisdom of East Seram Regency namely the Ita Wotu Nusatutun philosophy, which emphasizes kinship, social cohesion, and mutual cooperation, and the Sasi tradition, which promotes environmental conservation into the paradigm of the Love-Based Curriculum (Kurikulum Berbasis Cinta/KBC) implemented in Islamic Junior High Schools in East Seram Regency. The Love-Based Curriculum is a humanistic pedagogical approach grounded in compassion that seeks to foster students' affective development. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with school principals, Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers, and customary leaders, complemented by document analysis of curriculum drafts and teaching modules from three partner Islamic Junior High Schools in East Seram Regency during 2026. Data were analyzed thematically using an interactive coding process. The findings reveal that a curriculum excessively oriented toward meeting global cognitive and administrative standards contributes to a phenomenon of cultural fracture among adolescent students. As a strategic response, this study proposes the Ita Wotu Love-Based Curriculum Framework, a pedagogical reconstruction model that operationalizes the value of mutual cooperation into socio-pedagogical behavioral indicators while transforming the Sasi tradition into an eco-theological educational praxis. The study concludes that local wisdom should not be viewed merely as a cultural heritage of the past but as a transformative curricular instrument capable of decolonizing Islamic secondary education while nurturing graduates with strong character and cultural resilience in the face of globalization.

Abstract

This research employs a qualitative approach within an ethnographic framework to analyze the behavioral patterns, social interactions, and value systems of the multicultural community in Maluku, specifically the residents of RT 06/RW 17 Ulima Indah, Negeri Batu Merah, Ambon, regarding their practices of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) and patungan (communal funding) in the construction of Masjid Nurul Nisa. The study examines local wisdom in mutual cooperation, such as Malehar, Hiwait/Fitwait, Yomaalai Bamtusaoo, Masohi, Marhen, and Poompu Ompu, as well as communal funding traditions including Amban Mirim, Hiwait/Fitwait, Jiwaha, and Yalim. This research finds that these local wisdom traditions contain values that are fundamentally aligned with Islamic principles, particularly ta'awun (mutual cooperation), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and infaq/sadaqah (charitable contribution). The integration of local cultural practices with Islamic values has strengthened the social cohesion of the multicultural community and facilitated the successful construction and development of the mosque.

Abstract

An education system capable of instilling the values of moderation and tolerance is essential for Indonesia's culturally, ethnically, and religiously diverse society. The purpose of this study is to examine how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is implemented in a multicultural society. This includes aspects such as learning methods, teacher roles, and challenges encountered. This study employed qualitative methods and literature review. Various relevant scientific sources on Islamic education and multiculturalism were analyzed. The results indicate that the curriculum must systematically integrate the values of tasamuh (tolerance), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and wasathiyah (religious moderation). PAI learning must be developed through a dialogical, participatory, and contextual approach. PAI teachers play a crucial role as facilitators and role models in creating an inclusive learning environment that values diversity. Furthermore, improving digital literacy and developing a multicultural-based curriculum are strategic steps to address discrimination, radicalism, and the challenges of globalization. The results of this study indicate that PAI learning designed in an inclusive and moderate manner significantly contributes to producing a generation that is faithful, tolerant, and able to live together in a diverse society.

Abstract

Children's limited understanding of menstruation remains a significant issue that may lead to psychological unpreparedness, inadequate hygiene practices, and limited comprehension of religious obligations during menstruation. This study aimed to explore menstrual education as a sign of maturity in children through a nursing approach and an Islamic legal perspective. A descriptive qualitative design was employed involving six informants consisting of parents, healthcare professionals, and religious scholars, conducted in various locations where the informants resided. The findings revealed that menstruation is understood as a natural biological process as well as a marker of puberty (baligh). However, the education provided remains limited and lacks comprehensiveness. Menstrual hygiene practices have been implemented, although not yet fully aligned with health standards, while understanding of menstrual pain and warning signs has begun to develop. Furthermore, menstruation is perceived as the beginning of spiritual responsibility related to religious obligations and the understanding of purification (thaharah). The study concludes that menstrual education should be delivered holistically by integrating health aspects and religious values to enhance children's physical, psychological, and spiritual preparedness. This research contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the strengthening of comprehensive reproductive health education.

Abstract

Abstract: Islamic Religious Education (IRE) is not merely oriented toward academic achievement but also toward the formation of pious individuals. However, the implementation of learning outcomes in modern education often emphasizes cognitive achievement more than spiritual and moral dimensions. This study aims to analyze the concept of taqwa in educational hadith through a normative-hermeneutic approach and to examine its relevance as a learning outcome of Islamic Religious Education. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research design. Primary data were obtained from educational hadith concerning taqwa, particularly the hadith narrated by Al-Tirmidhi No. 1987, while secondary data were collected from books, journal articles, and other relevant literature. Data were analyzed descriptively through normative analysis of hadith content and hermeneutic analysis to interpret its meaning and educational relevance. The findings reveal that taqwa encompasses three main dimensions: *tarbiyah imaniyah* (faith development), *tarbiyah nafsiyah* (self-development), and *tarbiyah ijtima'iyah* (social and moral education). These dimensions indicate that taqwa is not limited to spiritual obedience but also includes character formation, self-regulation, and social ethics. Furthermore, taqwa aligns with the concept of learning outcomes as it integrates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Therefore, taqwa can be positioned as a holistic learning outcome in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyse the process of fostering students’ spirituality through the practice of Dzikir Khulasah Madad Nabawi at Al-Husainy Islamic Boarding School. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of the pesantren leader, spiritual mentors, and students who actively participated in the dzikir activities. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were analysed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The trustworthiness of the data was ensured through methodological triangulation. The findings reveal that Dzikir Khulasah Madad Nabawi serves as a means of fostering students’ spirituality through a continuous habituation process. The resulting spirituality is characterised by a stronger sense of closeness to Allah, inner peace, tawakkul (trust and reliance on Allah), self-control, discipline in worship, and the development of good moral character. The habituation of dzikir not only generates spiritual awareness at an inner level but also influences students’ daily behaviour, including increased politeness, greater respect for teachers and parents, and the ability to maintain harmonious social relationships. Therefore, Dzikir Khulasah Madad Nabawi functions not merely as a ritual practice but also as an instrument of spiritual education that contributes to the holistic development of students’ personalities

Abstract

Abstract: The development of social media as a digital educational space has given rise to the phenomenon of the hidden curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), where Islamic values are acquired not only through formal learning but also through interactions and digital educational content consumed by students at Ma’had Aly Nurul Jadid. This study aims to analyze the forms of the PAI hidden curriculum on social media, as well as to identify the Islamic values contained in digital educational content and their influence on the learning patterns of students. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation involving faculty members, musrif/musrifah, and students as research informants. The findings indicate that social media contributes to enhancing students’ active engagement in learning, strengthening information literacy skills, and fostering a shift in the learning paradigm from passive to active and collaborative. Furthermore, the hidden curriculum formed through social media also plays a role in the internalization of Islamic values such as responsibility, independence, critical thinking, and digital ethics. Thus, social media can serve as a strategic tool in the development of digital-based Islamic Education (PAI) that is relevant to educational needs in the modern era. Keywords: hidden curriculum, information literacy, social media, Islamic values, ma’had aly.

Abstract

This study was motivated by differences in educational backgrounds among students in the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) program at UIN Ar-Raniry, which are suspected to influence the level of religious observance, particularly in the practice of congregational prayer. Educational background is often viewed as a key factor shaping an individual’s religious understanding, attitudes, and awareness; thus, it is of scientific interest to examine its relationship with the practice of religious observance. The research question in this study is whether there is a correlation between the educational background of students in the PAI program at UIN Ar-Raniry and their level of observance in congregational prayer. This study aims to determine whether or not there is a relationship between these two variables. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational study design. The study population comprised all students who met the research criteria, while the sampling technique employed purposive sampling, involving a total of 38 respondents. Data collection was conducted via a questionnaire designed based on indicators of adherence to congregational prayer. The collected data were then analyzed using the Chi-Square test with the aid of SPSS software. Based on the results of the Chi-Square test, a Pearson Chi-Square value was obtained using SPSS software. The results of the Chi-Square analysis showed a Pearson Chi-Square value of 11.660, with df = 8 and Asymp. and an asymmetry significance value of 0.167, which is higher than the significance level of 0.05. These findings indicate that there is no significant relationship between educational background and adherence to congregational prayer. Based on these results, it can be concluded that differences in the educational backgrounds of students in the Islamic Education Study Program at UIN Ar-Raniry are not significantly related to the level of adherence to congregational prayer. This finding highlights the need for further research into other factors that influence adherence to religious practices.

Abstract

Film as an audiovisual medium not only serves as mere entertainment, but can also be an educational medium that represents various values of life, including Islamic values. An important value that can be found in film is istiqomah, which is the attitude of being consistent and steadfast in doing good and facing various life challenges. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the value of istiqomah is represented in the film Ranah 3 Warna by Guntur Soeharjanto and to interpret its meaning from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with library research as the type of research. Data is obtained through observation and documentation of the film, and then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model with Stuart Hall's theory of representation as the analytical tool. From the analysis conducted, it was found that the value of istiqomah is represented through three main dimensions, namely istiqomah in pursuing ideals, istiqomah in facing life's trials, and istiqomah in maintaining a relationship with Allah SWT. This representation is shown through the dialogue, actions, and life experiences of the character Alif Fikri, which demonstrate steadfastness, patience, responsibility, as well as religiosity. This study concludes that istiqomah is a central value that underlies various positive characters in the film and is relevant as a medium for Islamic Religious Education learning, playing a role in the development of students' character.
