Abstract

The inevitable evolution of consumer needs drives companies, particularly in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, to continuously seek innovation to enhance competitiveness and have a long-term impact on consumers' lives. Often, these innovations are introduced through events. In this context, the importance of the speaker or spokesperson role as a communicator in building trust and conveying messages to the audience is crucial. This research employs a qualitative case study method, focusing on the "Ngopinspirasi" event conducted by PT Nutrifood Indonesia for the Lokalate brand at Nutrihub Bandung, with the increasing awareness among students. The analysis centers on the application of symbolic interaction communication by the micro-business Badja Coffee as a spokesperson during the event to enhance Lokalate awareness at Nutrihub Bandung. The study utilizes Mead's symbolic interaction theory, encompassing three concepts: mind, self, and society. The research subjects the owner of Badja Coffee as the spokesperson and the marketing team of PT Nutrifood Indonesia in Bandung. The findings indicate that interaction communication flows smoothly, harmoniously, with involvement building a close relationship between the spokesperson and the audience. The study also applies Mead's symbolic interaction theory to analyze symbols of the spokesperson's behavior, such as clothing and speech.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of attribution behavior in the context of celebrity marriages, focusing on the case of Bunga Zainal and Sukhdev Singh. The purpose of the research is to provide a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of how attribution theory analysis can be applied to understand celebrity marriages that may be considered controversial. The research method used is qualitative, utilizing Harold Kelley's attribution theory approach, through primary data analysis from interviews across various podcast channels and secondary data from literature and online media reporting. The findings suggest that when consensus and distinctiveness are high, but consistency is low, behavior tends to be attributed to external or situational factors, namely the characteristics of Sukhdev Singh, rather than solely to materialistic motives. This indicates that Bunga Zainal's marriage is seen as a unique decision that is inconsistent with her previous behavior, yet similar to that of other celebrities in similar situations. This study highlights the importance of public understanding of attribution dynamics in influencing their views on specific events. In the context of communication studies, the research underscores the importance of considering attribution in media analysis and public responses to social issues and news.

Abstract

The increasing penetration of the internet and digital devices significantly impacts learning in technological media. Teachers play an important role in improving their competencies through training programs supported by the government. Dompet Dhuafa's Digital Literacy Education Training for Trainers program aims to improve digital literacy among Sekolah Guru Indonesia (SGI) activists. The program includes training in copywriting, learning video creation, the concept of Society 5.0, and future internet professions. The top five participants' work was certified by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, highlighting a novel approach as few participants developed strong comprehension and critical thinking skills. This research explores the critical thinking ability of the best participants in the digital literacy program, specifically in creating learning videos that obtain intellectual property rights. The method used was phenomenology, in-depth interviews were conducted with five top participants. The findings of this study revealed three main components affecting the implementation of the program: mastery of critical thinking, lack of mastery of critical thinking, and difficulties in improving participants' critical thinking skills. These results underscore the importance of critical thinking in educational training and the challenges in developing this skill among teachers.

Abstract

Climate change has an impact on decreasing agricultural production due to changes in cropping patterns. Farmers have difficulty determining planting times to adapt to climate conditions due to a lack of understanding of climate information. Therefore, agricultural education regarding climate information is conveyed by the government to the public through the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The climate information is then conveyed by BMKG through the climatology station in the Climate Field School (SLI) program. The aim of this research is to determine the optimization of agricultural extension communication in the Kupang climatology station's climate field school. The stages of this research method start from a literature review, data collection in the form of primary data and secondary data, then the data is analyzed. The research results show that optimizing agricultural extension communication in the Kupang Climatology Station SLI is carried out by integrating local wisdom with science. The use of local languages by extension agents is an appropriate extension communication strategy used by SLI. This collaboration creates an understanding of how to read climate change which is used to determine the right planting time.

Abstract

Encanto is a computer-animated family film with musical, comedy, and fantasy genres. The Encanto film won an Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Animated Film in 2022. As a mass communication medium, the Encanto film represents a unique reality where women play an important societal role. In the film Encanto, Abuela, the grandmother of the Madrigal family, plays an essential role in the existence of the Madrigal family and the community of Encanto. This reality generally differs from the reality of life, where men dominate essential societal roles. This study aims to describe the role of Abuela represented in the film Encanto at three levels of John Fiske's semiotics: the level of reality, the level of representation, and the level of ideology. The research used a qualitative method with an analysis of  John Fiske's semiotic theory based on constructivist paradigm. After conducting research, the researcher found that Abuela's roles in the film Encanto include family historian, teacher, head of the Madrigal family, and head of the community of Encanto. That role is represented by authoritative, firm, weak, and prone to wounds (melancholy) characteristics. In addition, a matriarch ideology was found as the basis of Abuela's role among the people of Encanto.

Abstract

This paper, which is a narrative analysis, seeks to explore why Korean drama as a form of hallyu cultural product is favoured by the Indonesian people by using the cultural proximity theory from Joseph Straubhaar. According to this theory the audience will prefer products of their own culture or the same as their culture. This research approach is a qualitative research with narrative analysis method. Audiences will prefer the same production because of elements such as star appeal, local knowledge, topics, issues, the environment, and the ethnicity of people in the media. The author discusses five cultural similarities between the two countries, namely the same history, family relationships based on extended family, language and social norms, family lineage and culinary. The results showed that the historical similarities between Korea and Indonesia which had been colonized by Japan, extended family forms in Indonesian and Korean families, respect for parents and manners of behaviour between Indonesians and Koreans and the same food, namely making rice and side dishes as staple foods made Korean dramas liked by the Indonesian people.
