This study examines sexual violence understanding among 11th-grade students at SMK Muhammadiyah Bojong, influenced by the film "Penyalin Cahaya." Findings show students grasp general concepts well, scoring 91.43 on average for understanding coercion, consent, and impacts of sexual violence. However, specific instances in the film posed challenges, with scores dropping to 66.71, indicating difficulty in distinguishing privacy violations from sexual violence. While "Penyalin Cahaya" effectively educates, students require more nuanced guidance to apply knowledge practically. Integrating such films into the Merdeka curriculum enhances awareness but necessitates clearer distinctions for comprehensive education.

This applied research examines the impact of using English literature supplementary texts to nurture reading habits in Year 8 students. The intervention aimed to increase students' independent reading hours by incorporating engaging literature into the English curriculum. The quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-intervention surveys, revealing a significant 56% increase in independent reading hours after the intervention. This growth indicates that supplementary texts can effectively enhance students' interest in reading outside the classroom. The qualitative data from student interviews and focus groups supported these findings. Students reported greater enjoyment and interest in reading, attributing it to the engaging nature of the supplementary texts. Many also noted improvements in their comprehension and analytical skills. In conclusion, incorporating English literature supplementary texts has successfully nurtured reading habits among Year 8 students. The significant increase in independent reading hours and positive feedback highlight the potential of this approach to foster a lifelong love for reading and improve literacy skills. Future recommendations include continued use of diverse supplementary texts and regular assessments to monitor long-term impacts.

Translanguaging, as a practice, involves the utilization of two or more languages at the same time for communication among bilingual and multilingual individuals. By incorporating translanguaging strategies into teaching pedagogy, teachers can bridge linguistic gaps for Foreign Language learning in the classroom. However, varying perceptions among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers can create barriers that prevent students from fully utilizing translanguaging. To gain a deeper understanding of this issue, the researchers take initiative to investigate the perceptions of Indonesian EFL teachers at a primary school in Palangka Raya, Indonesia. This qualitative research utilized semi-structured interviews to explore four EFL teachers' perspectives on this topic. The findings reveal a generally positive perception of EFL teachers who implement translanguaging strategies such as student-centeredness, collaboration, contextual clues, and two-way translation in their teaching pedagogy. The results of this research hold significance for individuals involved in the education sector, offering valuable information on how to design EFL lessons that utilize translanguaging techniques to cater to the needs of young (EFL) students.

This study explores the antagonist’s language in representing his arguments in the Jakarta Post editorial. The sources of data of this study were gained from the Editorial of The Jakarta Post newspaper which were published in February 2024. The data were collected purposively by choosing five out of twenty-seven editorials. In conducting this study, the researchers employ descriptive qualitative method to describe the language phenomenon used by the journalist in representing their arguments. Meanwhile, the theoretical framework of Appraisal theory used in this study was proposed by Martin and Rose (2007). Furthermore, in analyzing the data content analysis is used to analyze the data. The findings of this study reveal that the distinctive patterns of appraisal expression in the editorial is reflecting the antagonist’s perspectives and ideological orientation. The analysis highlights the role of language by the journalist can influence readers' attitudes, beliefs, and worldviews within the socio-political context through. The exploitation of attitude appraisal indicates that the journalists share their thoughts and opinions firmly. Meanwhile, the use of engagement is to positioned themselves in the arguments they delivered and the application of graduation is to strengthen their arguments.

The current research investigates the risk-taking characteristics of fourth-semester students at Muhammadiyah University in Semarang and fourth-semester English students at Sanata Dharma University. The participants in this research were 32 fourth-semester students, 6 of whom were second-language students from Sanata Dharma University via Google Fromulir with an English translation written test and Indonesian for the next part of the research. They then received a risk-taking personality questionnaire and a translation test. The research results found that there were errors in sentence structure when translating and incorrect vocabulary. This includes the use of translation models with multiple possible solutions, the development of mediation skills, and the integration of functional linguistics into translation teaching. In addition, this article uses the FAR model, which is an interlanguage translation text quality assessment model that evaluates the quality of translated texts in three areas: functional equivalence, acceptability, and readability. Therefore, EFL students need to master structure and vocabulary to better improve their translation products

Men and women tend to have different communication styles due to differences in social orientation and life experiences. Men tend to use communication to demonstrate status and solve problems, while women often use communication to build relationships and harmonize feelings. Women tend to pay more attention to interpersonal relationships and use communication to strengthen social ties. Therefore, it can be assume that women are more flouting Grice's maxims than men. The objectives of this research are to describe the types of maxims are flouted by male and female characters in the “Spiderman: No Way Home” Movie Script 2021 and describe the strategy for flouting the maxims by male and female characters in the “Spiderman: No Way Home” Movie Script 2021. The researcher's method of choice for this study was descriptive qualitative. The data in this research are utterances from both male and female characters in the script Spiderman: No Way Home. The data collection technique in this study was done by reading the film script thoroughly several times, selecting the data that contained flouting maxims, identifying the types of maxims that were flouted and the strategies used when flouting. The results showed that based on average women have flouting maxims more, 3 times, while male characters do it 2 times. The majority of maxims flouted by male are maxims of quality 18 times, while the majority of maxims flouted by female are also maxims of quality 4 times. The majority of maxim flouting strategies carried out by male are metaphor that is happened 8 times, while the majority of strategies carried out by female is irony that happened 3 times.

The rapid development of information technology has fundamentally changed the process of teaching English through the integration of network information technology into the curriculum, which has had a substantial impact on students' academic achievement. This study aims to investigate the effect of an interactive - based E-module of translation technology towards learning achievement through online and blended learning in two private universities in Makassar. This research used quasi-experimental method. Data analysis used Structural Equation Models – Partial Least Square (SEM - PLS) and SPSS 26 version with population was 135 and sample was 45 EFL students. Findings show that there was significant value is 0.888, which is higher than 0.05, which shows that there is no effect of providing interactive-based e-module of translation technology on students’ translation achievement through online learning. And based on the results of the paired sample t-test, the Sig. of 0.000 or smaller than 0.05 which indicates there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. It can be concluded that there is no significant effect of an interactive based e-module of translation technology toward learning achievement through online learning by using e-module and no using E-module of translation technology. Meanwhile, there is significant effect of an interactive based e-module of translation technology on learning achievement through blended learning.

LGBT is a legal thing to do in England society by free to loving someone regardless of gender. This article explain about how character Henry as a prince in the novel Red, White & Royal Blue who wants to proving his sexual identity in the society on the basis of some encouragement. In this research, we using the Psychoanalysis theory by A.H Maslow. The problem we raise is that there are still many England people who are still not confident and afraid to admit that they have same-sex attraction, especially public figure. And this research, our primer data is the novel Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. Data is analyzed by collecting word, sentences or paragraphs related to belongingness and love needs, esteem needs in Basic needs. And the data we collect, we explain about the character self actualization. The results of our research can be concluded that recieving encouragement from people closest and loved can be a factor for someone to be more brave in admitting something with more confidence. And every people is free to love and express themselves, and everyone has the right to determine their sexual identity.

Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is one of the discourse analysis methods that can be applied to examine a discourse or text, whether on a small or large scale. Fairclough's CDA emphasizes the process of text production, the dissemination of the text, and its socio- economic-cultural aspects. This approach dissects discourse from micro to macro dimensions, in line with the complexity of the issues at hand. The research aims to understand several news articles presented by Medcom and Media Indonesia regarding the activities of Anies Baswedan leading up to the 2024 presidential election. The research method applied is qualitative, utilizing text analysis with the transitivity of Systemic Linguistic Functional (SFL) approach. The results of the analysis indicate a tendency in the four news articles to present a positive image of Anies Baswedan.

The continually advancing technology offers convenience across various educational domains, facilitating the process of writing in foreig languages. Google Translate, a widely embraced application for translating text into multiple languages, including English, stands out as a highly favored tool among university students for accomplishing their writing assignments. This study seeks to find out students' perspectives on using Google Translate in English writing assignments. Employing descriptive quantitative research, the study engaged approximately 50 college students with prior experience using Google Translate for English writing tasks. Data collection occurred through a combination of questionnaires and interviews. The findings from the questionnaire analysis revealed that 58% of the students affirmed agree with the significant effectiveness of Google Translate in enhancing their English writing skills. Positive responses also manifested in heightened confidence and the acquisition of new vocabulary among students utilizing Google Translate in their writing assignments, thereby contributing to the overall development of their writing proficiency.
