Abstract

The purpose of this activity is the empowerment of small industries, especially in the cover craftsmen and report cards “GiGa” as service partners. The method used is technology guidance through the application of appropriate technology, assistance in the use of multi-use press machines using hydraulic, e-commerce, financial administration and management assistance. The precise technology of a multipurpose automatic press machine with a hydraulic machine can be used to produce a wide range of quality cover products with an effective and efficient production system. The results of this activity are increasing the ability of independent and resilient partners and increasing the role of the micro industry in development, creating job opportunities, increasing income for cover and report card craftsmen “GiGa”  in particular and the country in general, thus realizing a better economy. The output of this activity is an automatic multi-use press machine using hydraulic, effective and efficient production processes, quality cover products.

Abstract

The number of victims of domestic violence in Indonesia is still considerably high. The aims of this community service are threefold. The first aim is to share knowledge with the community. Second is to increase the community’s legal awareness of the issue, and the third aim is to perform one task of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Such sharing knowledge is deemed to be beneficial both for the community and the university. This community service employed both lecturing and interactive discussion methods. Lecturing was used to deliver the materials, and discussion was used to further explore topics relating to the issues. These methods enable society’s acceptance and understanding. Prior to this activity, most participants did not comprehend the meaning of gender equality and its significant influence on family life. The participants informed that some forms of domestic violence occur in the neighbourhood. Previously, they were of the opinion that such incidents were families’ private matters. They neither have rights nor obligations to interfere. As community members, they have an obligation to prevent such incidents from happening and could also assist in protecting the victims by informing the police or local institutions established for prevention and handling domestic violence

Abstract

The development of Café Sawah as Village Tourism in Pujon Kidul is very important because it has an impact on improving the community's economy. So far, various dairy products by MSEs that are fostered by ‘Aisyiyah are sticks and crackers as typical souvenirs from Pujon Kidul Tourism. The souvenirs are still not packaged attractively. Product packaging is an effective marketing strategy in managing the end of production, until it is accepted by the end consumers. As a tourist area that is crowded with visitors, good and effective processing of souvenirs is a solution that can be offered to visitors as souvenirs. The purpose of this community service is to improve good packaging, elegant design, easy to carry and able to maintain the quality of the product during the trip. This community service methods are observation, audience and active participation, in order to increase the value of souvenir products with more attractive packaging, safe and comfortable, with local wisdom. The result of this community service is packaging that has an attractive design, an elegant impression of the product, improving of the product values, and so, it becomes a promotional medium when it is brought to a new place as a souvenir, and then, it will subsequently have impact on increasing the welfare of the surrounding community, especially MSEs fostered by ‘Aisyiyah.

Abstract

Cases of intestinal worms or often referred to as neglected tropical diseases are a global problem that occurs in society. Groups of school-age children are more susceptible to being infected by parasitic worms transmitted through the soil (Soil-Transmitted Helminth). The dangers of STH infection in children are impaired nutrient absorption, malnutrition, weight loss, and cognitive decline. The problem at SDN Karangkembang is that student activities are closely related to the risk factors of STH transmission, namely, playing sand without footwear, not washing hands, hawker vendors around the school who are less hygienic. Also, there are no adequate handwashing facilities in schools. Based on these problems, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UB initiated a community service program namely worm socialization and prevention efforts through the application of personal hygiene. The results obtained during this community service activity are that 83% of students have carried out the practice of cleanliness very well, then 9% of students have carried out well, 4% of students carry out adequately and 4% of students are still lacking. This community service activity can coordinate all students, teachers, and parents to commit to always apply personal hygiene to improve the quality of life both at school and at home.

Abstract

The problem is the abundance of untapped teak wood waste that has an impact on environmental pollution. The purpose of this community service activities is to develop an agro-industrial area and become a marketing platform for wood waste processing products. The service activities include: (1) programing preparation and socialization stage, (2) programing and to do exhibition assistance training, (3) monitoring and evaluation, (4) Marketing and promotion. The results obtained from processed teak waste are in the form of vehicle souvenirs such as cars, vespa, motorbikes, rickshaws, mineral water containers, fruit containers, and ashtrays which have been exhibited as superior products at the sub-district level. This program is implemented by UPN Veteran East Java together with Soerja Ngawi University and the Ngawi Food Security Agency. Activities carried out include comparative studies, mentoring, apprenticeship, procurement of tools and training for making souvenirs from waste, and marketing for groups of craftsmen. Waste processing is beneficial for the community in increasing knowledge and skills, increasing community income, and making the regional superior product of Ngawi Regency. Environmental pollution can be overcome by utilizing waste into superior products.

Abstract

KWT "Sri Tanjung" was one of the Women Farmers Groups (KWT) in Sukosari Village, Malang Regency. They produced "Jaselang" drinks (ginger, secang, alang-alang) and corn chips. KWT members produced the products with traditional technology and low quality of food safety and they did not have marketing license. The purpose of this service activities was to provide the education of KWT members in the form of training related with good product handling processes to ensure product safety, especially the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and marketing license of National Food and Drug Agency. The method of implementing this community service were preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The results of the activities showed that 100% of the participants could know the definition, benefits, and objectives of implementing GMP. Besides, after the implementation of the marketing license socialization, 100% of the participants knew the definitions, requirements, methods, and registered the marketing license. The activities increased the knowledge of KWT members regarding the implementation of GMP and marketing license.

Abstract

COVID-19 global pandemic increases the usage of vitamin supplement products. However, easy access to purchase and consume the product increases the risk for its misuse. Lack of information and or misinformation available for vitamin supplement product usage leads to its abuse. Teachers' and parents' role in deciding the choice and use of vitamin supplement products for the pupil and children is crucial. Thus, a program was held to provide information about the correct usage of vitamin supplement products for teachers and parents. The program was performed for the teachers and pupil parents of TK Aisyiyah Ledug via online. The attractive audio-visual program materials were delivered via animation video, artistic leaflet, and presentation. The teachers and parents responded positively toward the program. All attendants actively participated, and 100% of attendants agreed that the program was interesting and increased their knowledge on the appropriate usage of vitamin supplement products.

Abstract

Indonesia is the second largest contributor to plastic waste after China. Despite the regulation, waste management in Indonesia has not met the standards of waste management that are environmentally sound. This forfeits the benefits of the waste management itself and brings negative impacts on public health and environment. This condition is aggravated by the costly access towards health facility. For this reason, socialization regarding waste management is needed. In addition, this program is equipped with an introduction towards waste bank and waste insurance as a practical solution. The existence of both options are expected to solve the problem of waste and health services for the community. The program aimed to help residents of RW 014 Kelurahan Tulusrejo, Malang City to comprehend the types of waste, separation of waste by category, impact on health, recycling and other details. The meetings were carried out twice from March to October 2020. The result of the agenda is that the residents continue to process waste using composter and are expected to form an independent waste bank management for local residents. Further, they are encouraged to learn more about waste insurance to manage the local waste in a more environment friendly manner.

Abstract

Community service with SME Sakinah Bakery is carried out to increase the production capacity and quality. Sakinah Bakery produces sponge cake and pastries that are very popular within the community and spread across 500 vendor shops in Malang City and Regency. Consumer demands has not been fully fulfilled due to low production capacity. About 10% of the product are undercooked or overcooked. These low quality products reduce the taste and aroma, breaks easily and becomes mushy quickly. Based on surveys and interviews, partner needs an large capacity oven that can produce well-cooked biscuits. The production tool that determine the cake ripeness is oven. This problem is overcomed by making an oven with electronic controls to stabilize the temperature and baking time. Temperature control with sensor feedback mounted on the combustion chamber forms a stable closed loop control system. Proper heating is obtained by controlling the LPG main valve. The three furnaces are spread out to get an even heating. The oven was able to increase 60% the production capacity per bake. The number of fail product decreases by 5.19% indicated that the product quality increases. Technology transfer in the form of training is carried out to maintain the quality.

Abstract

The outbreak of Covid-19 led the government to do some preventive action such as the promotion of health protocol and healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, some people still ignoring the current importance of this preventive action. We need to educate them about the importance of this preventive action using alternative media such as posters. The purpose of this activity is to find poster’s eligibility as a media to educate people of Dlanggu Village about preventive action to Covid-19. There are three stages done in this activities. They are preparation, implementation, and evaluation stage. The design of poster have been successfully made in this activity with an average score of 3.5. The result showed, in general, this poster was a good media to educate people about health protocol and healthy lifestyle during covid-19 pandemics.
