Abstract

K3 implementation is important and the responsibility of all parties, not only in the world of work but also in the world of Education. The first introduction to OSH at an early age (Irwan S.2017). Law No. 1 of 1970 is the basis of the first law stipulated by the government and also an understanding of K3. All parties involved are obliged to play an active role in accordance with their functions and authority and make K3 a part of the activity culture in each activity, so as to prevent accidents and illnesses caused by activities. For this reason, the purpose of this activity is to provide information and improve insight to children at the elementary school level to recognize potential hazards that can arise in the surrounding environment such as at home, at school and on the streets, so that accidents and diseases due to certain activities can be reduced or prevented as early as possible. Some of the targets to be achieved in this activity are to increase partners' knowledge of the potential danger of accidents at home, at school, and on the road and increase partner knowledge about the first important things to do if an accident occurs at home, at school and on the road.

Abstract

Water as a natural resource is the most important part for humans to continue their life. One example of the vital role of water resources for human activities is to fulfill food through agriculture and plantations. The availability of water needs for agricultural productivity is certainly an important study to maintain supply capacity and avoid crises in agricultural and plantation foodstuffs. As mandated by the Water Resources Law, the utilization of water resources is aimed at sustainably utilizing water resources by prioritizing the fulfillment of the basic needs of the community fairly. For the sake of the continuity of human life, water resources must be managed properly by paying attention to and protecting the environment. Almost not all the agricultural and plantation areas in the Planting area have irrigation channels that utilize surface water. Consequently, agricultural production does not reach maximum results, because its water needs are very dependent on rainwater. On the other hand, even though there is an irrigation network, there are areas where the availability of water is not sufficient, so that farming activities of farmers cannot get maximum results. This limitation causes farmers to depend on surface water supply, especially during the rainy season so that problems such as prolonged drought can have fatal consequences. One of the efforts to improve agricultural irrigation is to create a groundwater irrigation network by taking water from bore wells.

Abstract

Generally, seaweed farmers on the Jeneponto coast, including the Pattontongan City seaweed farmer group, use the long line method instead of other seaweed cultivation methods. Alternative cultivation methods need to be introduced to increase their production capacity. One of the methods that can be offered to the farmers is the floating cage method. The development of the floating cage method by several researchers has revealed that seaweed's average growth rate is much better when compared with the long-line method. Initial attempts to introduce this method were carried out in the form of training by showing the shape or model of a floating cage and how to assemble it. Training is carried out online and offline. Online is used during material description while offline when the floating cage structure is assembled, launched, and anchored. The floating cage structure uses PVC as its material, while the adhesive bonding technique is used to connect the structural components. The floating cage model's characteristics have the dimensions of 2 x 2 x 0.5 meters, with a buoyancy of 0.13 m3, the structure weight of 43.18 kg, and the displacement of 134.23 kg. After attending this training, participants were able to (1) read the floating cage design, (2) mark (full scale) and cut the PVC pipe structure, (3) do the initial assembly and the final assembly in the form of splicing using adhesive bonding techniques, and (4) perform the process of launching and anchoring the floating cage structure. The skill of making their floating cage will save costs when they are about to apply the floating cage method instead of the long line method in their seaweed cultivation

Abstract

The field of robotics is of great interest to students. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of SMP IT Ikhtiar students who want to take part in socialization activities and robotics workshops held by the Social Research Group, Cognitive Robotics and Advanced Artificial Intelligent Research Center, Electrical Engineering UNHAS. This activity provides knowledge about the basics and current applications of the field of Robotics and teaches students to be able to assemble simple robots using easily obtained electronic materials and components. The workshop was held semi-online where there were 6 (six) people consisting of teacher and student representatives who attended activities in the laboratory and there were also more than 50 students who attended virtually via teleconference. To be able to provide an understanding of robotics for students, it requires qualified external personnel who master the field of electrical engineering, especially robotics. From the comparison of the pre-test and post-test results before and after participating in the activity, it was obtained a significant increase in the knowledge of the students. In addition, students also succeeded in assembling robots using the materials and components that had been provided. As materials for the sustainability of the program, the robots assembled by students were then given to them to be studied again.

Abstract

Floods in Makassar City are influenced by two main factors, namely: natural factors such as rainfall and topography, and human factors with all their activities that can affect the drainage system and the state of land cover. Most of the water drainage system in Makassar City only relies on the drainage network from small channels to large channels such as canals which are generally flowed by gravity into the sea, so that areas that have undergone a change in land cover function that were previously water infiltration into urban areas are very easy to floods because water drains cannot run properly resulting in frequent flooding, especially in areas that have low ground levels. Aquapond is a retention pond system that is widely used in Japan which functions as a temporary storage of rainwater when rainfall is high and drains it slowly after the rainfall subsides as a solution to urban water drainage management techniques which often experience overflow of water or flooding. Japanese technology retention ponds such as Aquapond were piloted in one place that often experiences flooding every year in Makassar City, namely Jalan Urip Sumohardjo in front of the South Sulawesi governor's office which is expected to be useful in managing the water drainage system which often overflows and causes flooding that disrupts traffic of road. Because the retention pond system is connected to water drainage channels, this water management method is not widely understood by the general public and the local government, so learning and outreach activities regarding planning and design, construction as well as operation and maintenance of Aquapond retention ponds are carried out. The process of implementing this service activity has involved the community, local government and Japanese experts both in the learning process in planning and design, reviewing Aquapond construction.

Abstract

One of the efforts to prevent the transmission of Covid 19 is washing hands. Washing hands is one of the sanitation efforts by cleaning hands and fingers using water and soap or handrub by humans to be clean and break the chain of germs. Hands are often the agents that carry germs and cause pathogens to pass from one person to another, either by direct contact or indirect contact. Therefore, seeing the urgency of washing hands in an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid 19, we provide assistance to implement hand washing in public facilities where contact between humans often occurs. The service was carried out on October 3, 2020 at the Balang-Balang market, Borong Loe Village, Bonto Marannu District, Gowa Regency. The head of the Borong loe village received hand washing machine assistance. Abstract

In Bukaka area, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, a small scale industry of red-bricks with clay as the raw material is exist, which have been operated by the local people in generations for decades. From field observation, a problem was identified related to the quality of the bricks produced, which mostly not fulfilled the quality standards. The purpuse of this community service activiy is to conduct a series of laboratory tests to define and formulate recommendations in order to improve the quality of the raw material and the bricks. Methods of laboratory works performed in this activity include mineralogical analysis (XRD) and chemical analysis (XRF) for clay samples, as well as dimension test, baking test, colour, saline content, absorbtion, compressive strength and sound test for the bricks. The results showed that the clay material composed of feldspar, quartz, kaolinite, and calcite; with high content of iron (Fe2O3 up to 8.85%), thus it is recommended to conduct a decreasing grade of the iron content using magnetic separator method. Dimension of the bricks produced by the local workers were generally far above the quality standard; thus it is recommended to conduct an increasing size of the bricks, particulary in their thickness and width. For the bricks baking, it is recommended to perform an increasing temperature and duration of the baking in order to gain a better quality. Absorbtion of the bricks were also averagely low, 0.5-0.6 gr/dm2/minute, thus it needs to be treated carefully at the time of the raw material mixing. Uncompressed strength test of the bricks resulted average value of 24.47 kg/cm2, which indicated a Class-25 type of the bricks, and having a good quality of sound.

Abstract

Tourism in Indonesia consists of various types of tourist objects which until now have become the main attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists. A tourist area needs its own arrangement so that tourists can be interested in visiting that location. The arrangement of a strategic and attractive area to become a tourist destination has been found in many regions. Most of these locations are arranged based on the wishes and expectations of the people who live in the area. The importance of the role of local communities in the development of sustainable tourism destinations has encouraged the emergence of new trends in community-based tourism development. This is also done in the area of Lakkang Village, which is one of the locations that has tourism potential in Makassar City. This research aims to explain the arrangement of the Lakkang area into a tourist area based on a community perspective. Data collection techniques are carried out by observing the existing area, reviewing data or documents related to the area and interviews conducted in Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activities with the community in the Lakkang delta area.
