Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) at Balaraja Regional Hospital from the perspective of medical recorders as the main users of the system. Digitalization of health services through EMR aims to improve efficiency and quality of service, but in its implementation there are still various obstacles, such as suboptimal infrastructure, use of hybrid systems, and limited training for officers. Using a descriptive qualitative method with the PIECES approach (Performance, Information, Economics, Control, Efficiency, and Service), this study involved 9 informants who were interviewed in depth. The results of the analysis show that EMR has increased the speed of data access, information accuracy, and work efficiency. However, challenges still arise in the form of double data entry, network disruptions, and lack of system integration. Although the system is considered quite secure in terms of access control, its effectiveness is still influenced by user readiness and compliance. In addition, user satisfaction with the system also depends heavily on system stability and ease of operation. This study recommends strengthening infrastructure, regular training, improving SOPs, and accelerating full digitalization so that the implementation of EMR can run optimally and sustainably.

Abstract

Smoking behavior among adolescents remains a pressing public health concern due to its long-term health implications. This study aims to analyze the determinants of smoking behavior among senior high school students using the Health Belief Model (HBM) framework. A descriptive quantitative method was employed with a survey approach, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The sample consisted of 300 senior high school students selected through purposive sampling. The findings revealed that 40% of respondents were active smokers. A total of 63.4% demonstrated high perceived susceptibility to the health risks of smoking, while 36.6% showed low or uncertain risk perception. Additionally, 26.7% of students exhibited low self-efficacy in resisting cigarette offers from peers. These results indicate that perceived susceptibility and self-efficacy are critical factors influencing smoking behavior among adolescents. Health education interventions that enhance these two psychological aspects are essential to reduce smoking prevalence in this vulnerable age group.

Abstract

The increasing number of work accidents has recently become a global issue, especially in the cement industry. Work accidents occur due to potential hazards and potential risks in the workplace, this is a serious problem that can have an impact on worker safety and health, productivity, and operational efficiency of the company. Therefore, identification of potential hazards and control needs to be done to reduce or even eliminate the potential for work accidents and occupational diseases. This study aims to analyze and identify potential hazards and control potential hazards in machine maintenance work at the Rawmill Unit of PT XYZ using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method. This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method. By using purposive sampling technique, a total of 4 informants were obtained. The data collection techniques used are observation and interviews. Data analysis used is semi-quantitative based on (AS/NZS 4360: 2004). Based on the results of the study, it is known that each stage of machine maintenance work has varying potential hazards. Through the hazard identification process, five categories of hazard factors were found, namely physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychological hazards, with a total of 31 identified hazard sources. The risk assessment results show that there are 18 potential risks at a high risk level (High Level) or 58%, 7 potential risks at a medium level (Medium Level) of 23%, and 6 potential risks at a low level (Low Level) of 19%. The most dominant potential hazards in machine maintenance work include the hazards of being pinched, crushed, electrocuted, exposed to welding flares, bumped, exposed to dust, exposed to chemicals, and broken tools that can hit the worker's body. The recommendations for control efforts that can be made are based on the control hierarchy, namely Substitution, Engineering Control, Administrative Control, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem and is often related to a person's nutritional status. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) with hemoglobin (Hb) levels and its implications for the fitness status of employees. This study used a cross-sectional design with 36 employees as respondents. Data were collected through direct measurement of BMI, Hb levels using the Easy Touch GCHb tool, and fitness status with the Harvard Step Test. Analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had low Hb levels (55.6%), obese BMI (52.8%), and inadeqaute fitness status (55.5%). There was a significant relationship between gender and Hb levels (p=0.003) and between BMI and Hb levels (p=0.048). However, there was no significant relationship between Hb level and fitness status (p=0.660). These findings suggest that BMI and gender affect hemoglobin levels, but hemoglobin levels are not directly related to physical fitness levels. Understanding the relationship between nutritional status and Hb levels is important for anemia prevention and fitness improvement.

Abstract

Informed consent is a crucial aspect of healthcare services that emphasizes effective communication between medical personnel, patients, and families, especially in high-risk medical procedures. This study aims to understand the experiences of patients’ families during the informed consent process at RSU GMIM Bethesda Tomohon, considering communication dynamics, cultural values, and medical decision-making. A qualitative case study method was used, involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with families of patients who underwent informed consent for surgical procedures. The results show that communication occurs both verbally and in writing with a participatory two-way pattern. The credibility of medical staff, particularly specialist doctors, enhances family trust and acceptance of medical decisions. The collectivist cultural values of the Minahasa community play a role in decision-making through family deliberation. Empathetic, clear, and repeated communication reduces psychological barriers and improves understanding of medical risks. Families act as decision-makers, emotional supporters, and moral responsible parties for medical actions. The study recommends standardizing informed consent communication procedures based on local culture, involving responsible doctors directly in information delivery, and providing empathetic communication training for medical staff. Flexible communication policies and regular evaluations of medical communication quality are also necessary to protect patient rights and improve the quality of humane healthcare services.

Abstract

All adolescents are entitled to access reproductive health services that are appropriate to their developmental stage, both through formal and non-formal education. Preliminary findings indicate that students generally lack adequate knowledge of reproductive health, with limited information provided both at school and within the family. Teachers report that students tend to feel embarrassed or consider discussions on marriage and reproductive health to be taboo. This study aims to analyze the implementation of adolescent reproductive health education programs at the senior high school level in Ogan Ilir Regency, Indonesia. This qualitative study employed in-depth interviews with teachers, community health center personnel, and family planning counselors, along with two key informants, four student focus group discussions (FGDs) and document analysis. The findings reveal that all schools have made efforts to implement adolescent reproductive health education through teacher-led instruction, the Youth Care Health Services (Pelayanan Kesehatan Peduli Remaja/PKPR) program, and the Youth Information and Counseling Center (Pusat Informasi dan Konseling Remaja/PIK-R) initiative. However, personnel involved in these programs require further training to enhance their knowledge and competencies. While implementation guidelines are available, several adjustments are often made during practice. Key challenges identified include limited budget allocations, insufficient facilities and resources, and restricted accessibility for some adolescents. Although reproductive health education through teacher instruction, PKPR, and PIK-R programs provides significant benefits for adolescents, further efforts are needed to optimize their implementation and outreach.
