Abstract

Bullying has become a worrying global issue with increasing prevalence in various countries. Bullying is increasing in the world, one of which is due to lack of self-control. Group guidance using information technology such as video media is rarely implemented. The aim of this research is to develop a video-integrated group guidance E-book with symbolic modelling techniques to increase the self-control of bullies, using R & D research with the ADDIE model which includes the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation stages. The research sample involved 20 perpetrators of bullying. The research results revealed that (1) E-book integrated video group guidance with symbolic modelling techniques was considered very suitable for use by guidance and counseling teachers (2) Video integrated group guidance with symbolic modelling techniques was effective in increasing the self-control of bullies. The experimental group showed a much higher change in self-control scores for bullies than the control group (U= 10,000, Z= -3025, p<0.05).  These findings explain that E-book group guidance integrated with video with symbolic modelling techniques can be an alternative for increasing the self-control of students who are bullies at school.

Abstract

Mental health, especially depression, is a serious global issue. This problem of moodiness affects individuals. This research aims to analyze Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is integrated with the Redha Concept in dealing with the problem of depression among students. This study also adapts an approach that is in line with the cultural and spiritual values of the local community, with the hope of providing more relevant solutions to students' mental health problems. This experimental quantitative study involved 291 Sixth Form students who completed the 21-item Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS21) to measure their level of depression. Of this number, 12 students were randomly selected based on their depression stage to take part in the intervention session and complete the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ9) at pre- and post-intervention levels. Data analysis was carried out using the Friedman test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to assess changes in the stages of depression. The results of the study showed a significant reduction in levels of moodiness after therapy sessions, with median scores decreasing from 12.00 to 8.00 (p < 0.001). In conclusion, CBT integrated with the Redha Concept has the potential to be an effective approach in reducing student depression, with implications that show the importance of applying this approach on a wider scale to support students' mental well-being, especially in the cultural and spiritual context of Brunei society.

Abstract

Career adaptability is an essential competency for Generation Z students in addressing the challenges of a dynamic and uncertain labor market. This study aims to analyze the role of religious values in shaping the career adaptability of Generation Z students. Employing a descriptive phenomenological approach, the research explores students’ subjective experiences in integrating religious values, such as honesty, integrity, and gratitude, into the career adaptation process. Research data were collected through in-depth interviews with school counselors and students, as well as distributing instruments to vocational high school students representing Generation Z. Thematic analysis of qualitative data revealed that religious values serve as moral pillars that provide direction, mental resilience, and confidence in making ethical and sustainable career decisions. Quantitative results using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test (Asymp. Sig. = 0.005) showed a significant improvement in the career adaptability of students in the experimental group. These findings were further supported by the Mann-Whitney U test (Asymp. Sig. = 0.020), confirming the effectiveness of integrating religious values into students' career readiness. Additionally, qualitative data revealed that experiential learning approaches positively contributed to students' psychological well-being. Students reported increased self-confidence, self-awareness, and stress management skills that support their readiness to navigate the dynamics of the labor market. This study underscores the importance of religious values in fostering adaptive, ethical, and sustainable career development among Generation Z students.

Abstract

Most students still have low interest in science. This can be caused by parenting patterns that are less supportive and motivating. This study aims to analyze the significant relationship between parenting patterns in improving students' scientific literacy skills in the attitude aspect. This study is a type of ex post facto correlational research with a population of 98 students and a sample of 30 respondents. Sampling using stratified random sampling technique. The method and instrument for data collection in this study used a non-test method, namely a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used quantitative techniques, for hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means that there is a significant relationship between parenting patterns and students' scientific literacy skills because with the implementation of good parenting patterns, it will improve children's scientific literacy skills. The implications of this study are expected to be study material for teachers and parents in providing good parenting patterns for children.

Abstract

Achievement motivation is an internal drive that drives individuals to achieve success in both academic and non-academic fields. In underachiever students, achievement motivation is very important because it activates untapped potential, encourages the development of learning skills, increases mental toughness, creates self-confidence, and independence. One of the effective counseling approaches in increasing achievement motivation in underachiever students is the behavioral counseling approach using self-management techniques. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of the behavioral counseling approach using self-management techniques to increase achievement motivation in underachiever students. The design of this study was to use a one group pretest-posttest design with a population of 430 seventh grade junior high school students. Sampling used random sampling techniques and random class as an intact group, so that class VII.4 was obtained as a research sample. To test empirical validity, it was analyzed using the product moment correlation formula, while to test instrument reliability, it was analyzed using the Cronbach Alpha formula. Statistical tests used the T-test test to determine the effectiveness of the treatment that had been carried out. H0 is rejected if t count > t table. H0 is accepted if t count ≤ t table. Based on the H1 t-test, the calculated t was 11.131 while the t-table with db N-1 = 40 – 1 = 39 and a significance level of 5% (0.05) was 1.684, so it can be concluded that the behavioristic counseling approach with self-management techniques is effective in increasing achievement motivation in underachiever students.

Abstract

Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are characterized by deficits in social interaction such as in initiating, developing, and maintaining it. This ultimately affects the dynamics of social interaction between siblings. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of interaction and contributing factors. Participants consisted of 4 people, namely 2 pairs of siblings from 2 families (1 sibling with ASD and 1 sibling without ASD from each family). The method used was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews and observations of all participants and parents. The results of the study showed that there were actions that influenced each other's behavior in daily interactions due to various contributing factors including gender, birth order, age, sibling behavior, and parental roles. Interactions between siblings, one of whom had ASD, ultimately still occurred even though more dynamics and obstacles were found, but harmonious interactions or conflicts that occurred could be strengthened or reduced. This depends on the approach and support from those closest to them in helping children with ASD and their siblings respond to and manage situations in daily interactions. These findings indicate the importance of exploring the role of siblings, which is often overlooked, even though they are the closest figures. Sibling interactions can improve social skills, strengthen emotional bonds, and enhance well-being for children with ASD and their siblings. This review suggests further exploration of similar topics, from multiple perspectives, to enrich further literature.

Abstract

Trauma due to communal conflict creates a lasting impact even after the conflict has ended. Trauma not only affects individuals who experience it directly, but also has an impact on the family and social environment, which in turn has an impact across generational boundaries. This study aims to explore and analyze the mechanisms of intergenerational trauma transmission in post-conflict families, where trauma can be transmitted both directly and indirectly through psychological, family, and social interactions. The approach used is qualitative with a case study design, involving parents who experience conflict and children who are not directly involved. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods, and their validity was strengthened using triangulation of data sources. The results of the study indicate that the transmission of trauma in families occurs through two main aspects: parenting patterns and the influence of the social environment. Parenting patterns that are formed from traumatic experiences of parents after conflict, especially those that have not been handled properly, tend to be overprotective and full of strict instructions. The social environment becomes a place for children to confirm the trauma received from parenting patterns which then strengthen the transmission of this trauma. These two aspects are interrelated in forming patterns and processes of intergenerational trauma transmission.

Abstract

This study focuses on the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among adolescents, particularly in vocational high schools (SMK), which refers to the anxiety caused by the fear of missing out on information or trending events. The problem addressed in this research is how the phenomenon of FoMO affects the psychological well-being of adolescents in SMK. The aim of this study is to analyze the level of FoMO among SMK students and provide recommendations for interventions that can reduce its negative impact. The research method used is a survey design involving 203 students as the sample. Data were collected through the distribution of a questionnaire containing 10 questions designed to measure the level of FoMO. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to determine the distribution of FoMO levels among respondents. The main findings of the study show that the majority of students (63%) fall into the moderate category of FoMO, while 25% of students are in the low category and 12% fall into the high category. These findings indicate that although most students show a moderate level of FoMO, special attention needs to be given to students with high FoMO levels to prevent negative psychological impacts. The conclusion of this study is that it is crucial for educators and school counselors to design interventions that can reduce the anxiety caused by FoMO.
