Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of brief solution-focused counseling (SFBC) in reducing exam anxiety in students. Exam anxiety is one of the factors that can interfere with students' mental health and academic performance. SFBC, as a solution- and outcome-oriented approach, relies on students' internal and external resources and has been proven effective in the school context. Through techniques such as problem-free talk, magic questions, scaling questions, exclusion questions, marking minefields, and formulaic first session tasks, this study aims to identify strategies that can reduce students' exam anxiety. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to determine the effectiveness of using SFBC in reducing students' exam anxiety. The results showed that SFBC is effective in reducing students' exam anxiety by emphasizing the development of counseling strengths and resources. The conclusion of this study is that SFBC is an efficient and effective therapeutic approach to help reduce student exam anxiety.

Abstract

This study aimed to test the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Procrastination (MBCT-P) in reducing academic procrastination, as well as explain how MBCT-P can reduce academic procrastination. The research participants were 43 Muslim university students with academic procrastination scores in the medium and high categories who were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=21) and control group (n=22). A mixed methods research approach with an embedded research design was used in this study. An experiment with a Randomized Pre-Test and Post-Test Control Group with a Follow-Up design was used, while qualitative data collection was carried out during the intervention. The research instruments were the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (CR=0.89) and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (CR=0.92). The results showed that MBCT-P had a long-term effect in reducing academic procrastination in the experimental group. Experimental group participants were reported to be more focused, calm, and motivated and found it easier to accept academic tasks, leading to reduced procrastination. The modification of MBCT-for depression for academic procrastination with a shorter duration has never been previously explored. Hence, this research provides a new alternative intervention that effectively reduces academic procrastination among university students.

Abstract

The role of a teacher in the world of education greatly affects how the quality of students with the expected changes cannot be separated from the responsibility of a teacher in educating, guiding, motivating and being a facilitator for these students. However, low work involvement by teachers is not able to achieve organizational or school success in producing quality successors. The intended work engagement is a series of results from the teacher's self-efficacy and resilience towards himself and work tasks. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of self-efficacy and resilience on teacher work engagement with personality traits as mediators, then explain how much influence between variables built from the model. The research subjects were Junior High School teachers in Tulungagung district, Indonesia. The research sample was 220 Pancasila and Civic Education (Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan) and Social Science (Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial) subject teachers. Hypothesis were analyzed using Smart Partial Least Square (PLS) version 3.0. through PLS-Graph version 3.0 software. The research results show a significant relationship between the influence of self- efficacy and resilience on teacher work engagement through personality traits. It means self-efficacy, resilience, and teacher personality traits correlate significantly with work engagement.

Abstract

This brief investigation checks into how depression levels and ways of dealing with problems are related among teenage drug users who are getting help at Rumah Orbit Surabaya, a drug rehab centre in Indonesia. The study used a correlational analytic approach and looked at 32 teenage drug users: 10 were admitted for inpatient care and 22 were getting therapy outside of school. The requirements for inclusion are that the teens must be involved in rehabilitation and have good social skills. Teenagers who are already drug-free are not eligible. The Beck Depression Inventory questionnaire and the Ways of Coping Checklist were used to gather data. The results show a clear connection between the subjects' coping strategies and how depressed they were. Findings show that teens who use drugs are more likely to use unhealthy ways to deal with their problems when they are depressed. In particular, most of them showed signs of borderline sadness, and a big chunk of them used unhealthy ways to deal with their problems. On the other hand, people with moderate depression were more likely to use adaptive coping techniques. This study adds to our knowledge of how sadness affects how teenage drug users deal with stress in a rehabilitation setting. Recommendations include interventions that are targeted to the severity of sadness to help people in this vulnerable group get better at therapy and coping. In the future, researchers could look into longitudinal effects and intervention methods that are better suited to people with different levels of depression in similar situations.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing increase in cyber bullying and the negative impacts it causes. This research aims to develop a cyberbullying measurement instrument using a mixed methods approach involving three stages. Theme exploration stage, namely the qualitative stage with open questionnaire data collection techniques to explore themes surrounding Cyberbullying. At this stage the data analysis technique applied is open coding (65 participants). The testing stage is the content validity stage where the instrument is assessed by experts using the Aiken formula. This stage also includes factor analysis with an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) approach which helps identify the factorial structure underlying the instrument, relationships between items, and grouping items based on dimensions (270 participants). Scale validation stage where at this stage confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was carried out to test and validate the factorial model identified through EFA (789 Participants). Sampling technique uses convenience sampling technique. The results of the research show that based on the CFA test, the cyber bullying scale showed that all items had loading factor values >0.5 and construct reliability >0.7, as well as AVE results >0.5, so that all the items used were forming factors of the latent variable. The items used are valid and reliable items so they can be relied upon as research measuring tools. Reliable Cyberbullying measurement instruments can more precisely identify cyberbullying behavior and thus can assist in a better understanding of this phenomenon, so that prevention and intervention efforts can be targeted more effectively.

Abstract

Academic stress not only occurs in students at school but also occurs in many college students. Several studies have shown that irrational thoughts about self-confidence and low resilience are related to high academic stress. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of resilience training to reduce academic stress in students. This study is an experimental study with a Randomized Pre-Test, Post-Test, and Follow-Up (RPPF) design. Researchers randomly divided participants into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received eight sessions of resilience training intervention for three weeks, with two to three sessions per week, each lasting 90 minutes. Both groups underwent measurements before the intervention (pre-test), after the intervention (post-test), and two weeks after the intervention (follow-up). This research instrument used an academic stress scale (α =0.842). Data analysis using Multivariate Analysis of Covariance showed that resilience training had significant effectiveness in reducing academic stress in students. The implications of further research are discussed.

Abstract

This research is based on the fact that most students at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Malang, still have moderate and low levels of psychological well-being. Students, in this case, should be more focused on how they achieve an optimal level of psychological well-being, but there are still early adult individuals who have celebrity worship. When early adult individuals have celebrity worship, it will have a negative impact, such as anxiety, stress, and even depression, which leads to decreased psychological well-being. This research aimed to determine the description of celebrity worship and psychological well-being and the relationship between the two variables in the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Malang students. Research data were collected using the short version of the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being (RPWB) Scale. The correlation coefficient value of the two variables is -.012, with a significance value of .878. The results stated an insignificant relationship with a negative correlation between celebrity worship and psychological well-being in students of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Malang.

Abstract

In recent times, there has been a phenomenon of social control carried out by the Indonesian Ulema Council through the MUI Fatwa Commission issued the Latest Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 concerning the Law of Support for the Palestinian Cause. The fatwa recommends Muslims avoid using Israeli-affiliated products as much as possible. These recommendations include an appeal to avoid transactions and use of products affiliated with Israel as well as those that support occupation and Zionism. Soekanto (1990) defines social control as a planned or unplanned process that aims to invite, direct, or even force certain communities or groups to comply with applicable values and norms. The purpose of this study is seeing how big the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council's role is on social media users' social control. This research is a big data research with several stages, namely data collection, data has been obtained, then the pre-processing stage to data analysis in the form of visualization. The findings obtained when the fatwa was issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council on November 10, 2023, found that there was an increase in searches and trending topics on social media. On November 15, 2023, the Indonesian Ulema Council issued a statement regarding fatwa Number 83 of 2023 which did not mention specific products in terms of names, brands, and companies. After the release of the statement, there was a decrease in numbers on google trends.
