Abstract

The study of sports injuries is a crucial and captivating topic that requires thorough exploration. Understanding and effectively managing sports injuries is essential for coaches, instructors, and athletes. However, there is limited awareness among sports practitioners, particularly regarding flat foot conditions. Therefore, this research aims to identify common injuries among athletes with flat feet through a comprehensive survey. Employing a quantitative descriptive method with a survey-based approach. This study included a sample of 89 male athletes who sought treatment for sports-related injuries at massage clinics. Data collection techniques encompassed observations, interviews, questionnaires, and measurement tests. Purposive sampling was utilised for participant selection. Wet footprint tests, stature metres, weight scales, and questionnaires were employed for data collection. Data analysis employed the percentage formula and was supported by Excel software. The findings indicated that athletes with flat feet were more susceptible to knee injuries (69%), ankle injuries (31%), external causes of injury (22%), internal causes of injury (52%), and overuse injuries (26%). These results imply that athletes with flat feet who seek treatment at massage clinics commonly experience knee and ankle injuries, with internal trauma being the leading cause. This study contributes to a better understanding of injury identification among individuals with flat feet, aiding in the selection of appropriate sports activities. Limitations of this study include a single research site, an uneven distribution of sports disciplines, and a male-only sample. Future research should employ more comprehensive methods and ensure representative samples across various sports to facilitate proper generalisation of the data.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how interval and tabata training affect the improvement of VO2 max endurance in pencak silat athletes. This study uses a pre-experimental design. The Multi-stage Fitness Test (MFT) is the measurement instrument used in this study, employing a two-group pre-test and post-test design. The study involved a total of 14 athletes from the Central Java Pencak Silat PPLOP, divided into two groups, each consisting of 7 athletes. The results show that both training methods significantly improve the athletes' VO2 max endurance. Based on the SPSS series 26 data analysis, it was found that: 1. Tabata training has a significant effect on the VO2 max endurance results of pencak silat athletes with a p-value of 0.004 < (p<0.05). 2. Interval training has a significant effect on the VO2 max endurance results of pencak silat athletes with a p-value of 0.000 < (p<0.05). 3. There is a significant difference between the two training methods in terms of VO2 max endurance results in pencak silat athletes. However, based on the final Paired Sample T-Test, VO2 max improvement was more significantly influenced by Tabata training compared to interval training. The average VO2 max improvement in the Tabata group was 5.4000, while in the Interval Training group it was 4.9714. This study provides practical implications for designing more effective training programs to improve the aerobic endurance capacity of athletes. Future research is recommended to use a larger sample size and consider other factors that may influence training outcomes.

Abstract

Students, especially intensive users of visual devices such as computers, are at risk of postural disorders such as Forward Head Posture (FHP) and non-specific neck pain (NSNP). The static position of the arm is thought to contribute to this disorder. This study used a cross-sectional design with 47 female participants aged 18-25 years. FHP is measured by Craniovetebral Angle (CVA), static position of the arm with Forward Shoulder Angle (FSA), and neck pain with Neck Disability Index (NDI). Data analysis was carried out by the Pearson correlation test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between CVA and FSA (r=0.182; p>0.05), but there was a significant negative relationship between FSA and NDI (r=-0.315; p<0.05). The conclusion was that there was no association between FHP and static arm position, but there was an association between static arm position and non-specific neck pain.

Abstract

Introduction: Muscle strength affects metabolic activity and overall well-being, making it a critical component of physical fitness. Objectives: This study examines the relationship between university students' body weight, body fat, leg press strength, and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Method: This study used a cross-sectional analytical design, selected using the purposive sampling technique with comprising female undergraduate students, sport coaching education enrolled in the Faculty of Sports Science at Surabaya State University, 56 participants with the following characteristics:  who were aged (17.4 ± 2.7 years), had a height of (152.5 ± 29.47) cm, and had a weight of (55.15 ± 11.34 kg). Result: The results showed that there was a positive correlation between Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and leg press strength (r = 0.283, p = 0.034), indicating that greater lower body strength may help increase metabolism. In contrast, there was no significant correlation between body mass with leg press strength (r = 0.197, p = 0.146) and body fat with leg press strength (r = -0.111, p = 0.417), possibly due to individual differences in muscle distribution and fat storage. Conclusion: These findings emphasize the importance of strength training in improving weight control and metabolic health, especially in females. The study additionally highlights the necessity of additional investigation to gain a deeper comprehension of the mechanisms underlying these relationships and to explore other contributing factors. Overall, this study tells fitness experts how important a customized strength training program is for improving the metabolism and physical health of female college students.

Abstract

Teacher interaction is critical for improving student engagement and motivation in Game-Centered Approach (GCA)-based basketball learning.  The purpose of this study was to examine how teacher interaction affects student engagement and motivation within this pedagogical framework.  This study utilized a quasi-experimental design with junior high school students as participants.  The experimental group received improved teacher interaction strategies, such as providing feedback, asking reflective questions, and fostering discussions, whereas the control group used conventional learning methods. Data were collected using pre-and post-test questionnaires, classroom observations, and structured interviews.  The results revealed a significant increase in student engagement and motivation in the experimental group compared to the control group (p = 0.000).  Statistical analysis utilizing paired t-tests and independent t-tests confirmed that teacher interaction in GCA-based basketball learning improved students' learning outcomes.  This study underlines the relevance of teachers as facilitators for improving student participation and motivation.
