Abstract

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) determine the relationship between achievement motivation and school principal’s leadership effectiveness, (2) investigate the relationship between interpersonal communication behavior and leadership effectiveness of school principals, and (3) discover the relationship between the school principal’s leadership effective and the achievement motivation and interpersonal communication behavior. The type of this study was correlational. The research population was 175 primary school principals in East Sumba Regency, and the target population was all principals of public primary schools. This research employed questionnaires to collect data and the multiple correlation analysis with regression to analyze the data. This study revealed a significant relationship between the school principal’s leadership effectiveness and achievement motivation and interpersonal communication behavior. The effectiveness was indicated by the score of the correlation coefficient variable of achievement motivation by (r) 0.245 with a significance (p) of 0.001 and the score of interpersonal communication behavior variable (r) of 0.381 with a significance (p) of 0.000. This study suggests three points. First, the Education Department of East Sumba Regency, as the policymaker, must improve the training for school principals. Second, the government is urged to make education or training policies to improve school principals’ professionalism. Third, other researchers are advised to investigate school principals’ leadership effectiveness using different variables or settings.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Bullying remains prevalent because many teachers and schools have not fully adopted perspectives of tolerance and diversity. This lack of approach is a major factor in the high incidence of bullying against religious minority students in Indonesia. In this context, it is important to understand how anti-bullying policies are implemented in schools, particularly in relation to the treatment of students from religious minority groups. The purpose of this study is to conduct an in-depth analysis of how schools and teachers in Indonesia respond to existing anti-bullying regulations, with a specific focus on how they treat children from religious minority groups. This study employs a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods to explore the responses and experiences of teachers, schools, and students themselves. By deeply analyzing the responses from educators and schools, as well as the experiences of students, this study aims to identify gaps in policy implementation and provide methods to enhance the effectiveness of anti-bullying measures. The potential impact of this research is to ensure that religious minority children are provided with an environment that supports their identities, so they can feel safe and valued in their educational environment. Additionally, this research is expected to serve as a foundation for formulating more inclusive and effective policies in preventing bullying in the future.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The relationship between women and forests is manifested through women's involvement in maintaining forest ecosystems. The involvement of women in forest management is one of the strategic issues in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. This study aims to analyze forest management activities and assess the impact of forest management activities on women. This study used a qualitative descriptive analysis with the framework of Harvard model gender analysis. This study took place in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and used 2 locations as case studies, namely Beji Village (Gunungkidul Regency) and Hargowilis Village (Kulon Progo Regency). In Gunungkidul Regency, forest management is directed towards conservation activities, while in Kulonprogo Regency it is forest utilization for agricultural activities. The impacts felt by the women (and men) of the Ngudi Lestari Ranger Group are more on ecological and social benefits. Meanwhile, the Mengger Rejo Forest Farmer Group also receives economic benefits that are equally felt by both genders. This study shows that forests in different locations with different geographic and socio-demographic characteristics will result in different management systems. However, both locations of this study show that women have an important role in forest management.

Abstract

ABSTRACT In the literature, it is common to view indigenous peoples in terms of places and territories, local cultures, and unique origins. Such studies go further to identify knowledge and wisdom, and to address the question of sustainability of indigenous peoples, in terms of localities. What seems to be lacking in this spatial view is attention to motions. The aim of this brief article is to bring the mobilities paradigm to the literature on indigenous peoples by presenting a case study. The empirical question that guides our research is how the locality of indigenous peoples be assembled and maintained. Our research addresses this question by examining the localizing factors that form the Cireundeu Village’s indigenous community in Cimahi, West Java. This community originated from the expansion of Kasepuhan Sunda Wiwitan Cigugur, Kuningan. We employ case study method to gather and analyze empirical data and make use of relevant information from secondary sources. Our findings indicate that there are circulations of things, people and information that form and maintain the locality of Cireundeu’s indigenous people. Among these are ideas, technical skills and knowledge. While there is boundary that defines inside and outside, this boundary is maintained through circulations. The capacity of Cireundeus’s indigenous people to adapt to changes seems to develop from their mobilities, instead of reliance on local fixities. With the findings of this research, we seek to contribute to the debates between spatial turns and mobility turns in social theories and argue for the relevance of mobilities paradigm in the study of indigenous peoples. We belief that a more inter-disciplinary understanding of indigenous peoples would lead to enriched insights into indigenous communities' social and cultural dynamics and provide a new approach to address sustainable development of communities within the increasingly interconnected world.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mountainous Papua faces significant economic challenges, including high inflation rates that hinder social development and community welfare. One of the primary factors behind this issue is economic dependency on central regions and developed countries for essential supplies, technology, and economic policies. This article examines the phenomenon of inflation in Mountainous Papua through a critical dependency theory approach, focusing on the asymmetric relationship between peripheral and central regions. Using a political economy framework, the article argues that sustained dependency contributes to economic instability and vulnerability to poverty. Therefore, a strategic plan is necessary to establish an inclusive economic ecosystem as a pathway out of the grip of inflation.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the economic opportunities and challenges faced by families living along the Indonesia–Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (RDTL) border, particularly at points of cross-border smuggling and black-market trade. The research employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews involving informants familiar with the economic and social dynamics of the border region. The findings reveal that the persistence of illegal trade reflects the government’s inability to ensure adequate welfare and economic access for border communities. Restrictive regulations have limited local economic activity, prompting many families to engage in clandestine trade as a survival strategy. This study contributes theoretically by interpreting informal border economies as both adaptive mechanisms and acts of resistance against unfavorable state policies. The findings offer valuable insights for developing more inclusive and context-sensitive economic policies in border areas.
