Abstract

Geographically, Labuhan Tangga Hilir Village is located in the northernmost part of Riau Province, which is also the eastern coastal region of Sumatra Island. So that Labuhan Tangga Hilir Village has fisheries and marine resource potential. The potential for fisheries and marine resources consists of capture fisheries potential, cultivation and processing fisheries potential. The problem in the Labuhan Tangga Hilir Village area is that fishermen catch a lot and are abundant so they are not sold out, which causes the fish they catch to rot and have no economic value. The average catch of fishermen per month is 1.3 tons, with details of 500 kg being sold and 800 kg being wasted every month. The solution to this problem requires training in making sardines and the implementation of SIKOSA innovation technology tools based on the Internet of Things. The aim of the activity is to move the progress and welfare of the community to develop the natural resources they have, namely sea fish catches, increase income and manage good business. The activity methods used to solve partner problems are design, training, mentoring and implementation. The activity was held on Saturday 11 November at the Labuhan Tangga Hilir Pengalengan hall, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau province. The activity was attended by approximately 20 participants. The results of the activity can increase knowledge of making sardine products and business opportunities for the people of Labuhan Tangga Hilir Village. The conclusion of this activity is that this training provides an increase in the community's knowledge about making sardines. So that it helps improve the economy of village communities, and has downstream products from fishing.

Abstract

Stunting gives negative impacts for children’s cognitive developments, emotions, behaviors, education, productivity, and disease when they grow up. Hence, one of the efforts to reduce the prevalence of stunting is to increase nutritional knowledge and functional food processing skills for stunted toddlers’ mothers. This activity was applied in the Family Group at the East Padang District Nutrition House collaborating with the East Padang District Health Center. The previous research findings showed that the Protein and Mineral of Moringa leaf Nuggets, one of the processed food innovations, has exceeded the nutritional standards according to the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation Number 51 of 2016 concerning Nutritional Supplementation Product Standards. The purpose of this activity is to increase the parents’ understanding of nutrition. Because of this digital era, it is needed to educate and assist stunted toddlers’ parents through digital literacy regarding nutritional standards for toddlers and food processing training to increase toddlers' body mass. There are three stages done in applying technological methods are 1) Socialization; 2) Training; 3) Evaluation. The evaluation’s result of providing knowledge and training to stunted toddlers’ mothers is that the knowledge and skills of stunted toddlers’ mothers is increased by 86.67%. In short, training for stunted toddlers’ mothers regarding innovations in Moringa leaf food processing that are nuggets, meatballs and Fantasy tofu, additional food for stunted toddlers, has significantly increased mothers’ knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Women Farmers Group can play a role in rural development, because most of the FWG members are housewives who still have a lot of time, energy and can utilize vacant land and home gardens as locations to run relevant businesses to be more productive. Increased productivity of FWG members will be able to help the household economy so that in turn it can make them more empowered. The problem is that efforts to help the household economy are sometimes hampered by limited knowledge and skills. In order for the quality of human resources FWG to be adequate, it is necessary to conduct training activities through a structured extension program. The objectives of the activity are 1) to educate FWG Nagari Silga members in utilizing empty land into a Family Medicinal Plant garden and 2) to increase knowledge and skills in making salted eggs for FWG members in Nagari Sialang Gaung, Koto Baru District, Dharmasraya Regency. The method of transferring knowledge and technology (science and technology) applied is using the extension method with a lecture, training and mentoring approach. The results of the activity are the Women Farmers Group in Nagari Sialang Gaung, Dharmasraya Regency has increased knowledge and skills in utilizing empty land to be more productive with evidence that a 120 meter Toga garden (10 x 12 meters) has been established which contains 10 (ten) types of medicinal plants and has been able to produce new food products in the form of salted eggs. The conclusion of the activity is that the transfer of science and technology has been able to increase the productivity of FWG members, especially in utilizing vacant land and producing salted egg products, which indicates that they will be more empowered in the future.

Abstract

Agricultural waste has the potential to be utilized as an environmentally friendly energy source. One such agricultural waste comes from the Bukik Gompong Organic Garden farmer group, which has not been optimally utilized. The aim of this activity is to introduce the importance of processing agricultural waste into an energy source and provide assistance in making biomass stoves to the farmer group. It is hoped that this activity will help reduce the production waste from Bukik Gompong Organic Garden, thus mitigating environmental damage. This activity was carried out in Bukik Gompong, Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province. The target audience is the Bukik Gompong farmer group. The implementation method includes providing guidance on the utilization of agricultural waste as an energy source and assisting in the production and application of biomass stoves. Agricultural waste can be utilized as an alternative energy source if processed properly. This community service activity was conducted with the Bukik Gompong Organic Garden farmer group as an effort to reduce agricultural waste. The results of this activity indicate that the farmer group understands the benefits of processing agricultural waste into an energy source such as biochar. The farmer group also gains knowledge in making biomass stoves. The results of this activity can be followed up by the farmer group using eucalyptus, tea, corn, and coffee waste, which have the potential to become environmentally friendly fuels, especially if dried beforehand. In conclusion, this activity is highly beneficial for the farmer group in processing agricultural waste into an energy source.

Abstract

Community activities aim to design and implement an automatic etching machine using a microcontroller and servo motor. The microcontroller acts as the control unit, regulating the movement of the servo motor to ensure the etching process runs with maximum efficiency. The method used in this activity is divided into several structured stages. The first stage is design, where the device is designed using a microcontroller to control the servo motor responsible for moving the PCB undergoing the etching process. The second stage is implementation, where the components to be used include the microcontroller, servo motor, LCD, buttons, and etching container. The final stage is evaluation, where the created device is assessed based on the suitability of the motor movements produced according to the main objective, which is to produce tracks as desired by the operator. The results of implementing this automatic etching machine activity are expected to provide several key benefits. Firstly, the machine can reduce the time required to complete the PCB etching process, thereby increasing productivity in PCB printing services. Additionally, by reducing human involvement in the monotonous physical process, this machine helps avoid human errors and thus can improve the quality of the products produced. In conclusion, it is hoped that the PCB printing service industry can take a step forward in adopting automation technology that can enhance production efficiency and product quality.

Abstract

Household organic waste can be used as raw material to produce Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) as an effort to reduce the amount of solid waste disposed of at Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS). The organic fertilizer produced can be reused in home gardens, such as for ornamental or fruit plants. In addition to being used as fertilizer, LOF can be used as a starter for making other organic fertilizers or as a decomposer in the production of compost. The community empowerment activities in making LOF aim to raise awareness of the potential of household waste as a valuable resource. Through a participatory approach, the community is encouraged to actively engage in the process of converting waste into LOF, which benefits agriculture and the environment. The empowerment and community development activities regarding the application of simple LOF production were conducted at RT 03 RW 09, Tanjung Berok, Kurao Pagang Sub-District, Padang City. The activities included socialization, education, and practical training on converting household organic waste into LOF using buckets as containers. As a result of these activities, the community gained increased knowledge in processing household organic waste into LOF and Microorganism Liquid (MOL), which can be used for fruit and ornamental plants in their yards and residential areas. The attendees realized the importance of protecting the environment by managing their household waste and avoiding disposing of waste into water channels.

Abstract

The accumulation of garbage in the community of Korong Talogondan, Nagari Kurai Taji, Nan Sabaris Subdistrict, Padang Pariaman District can cause foul odors and various environmental problems. Concern for treatment of the generated waste needs to be increased by enhancing understanding due to the lack of knowledge and skills among residents in waste management. Therefore, the process of managing and processing organic waste needs to be done at the source, namely households. On the other hand, farmers need fertilizers for agriculture, with prices continuously rising and soil fertility declining due to improper fertilization practices. This activity aims to provide information, knowledge, and practical experience in processing organic waste into liquid fertilizer using local microorganisms (MOL). MOL was made using kitchen waste, rice washing water, granulated sugar, and brown sugar available in every household kitchen. The activity was conducted by delivering materials on the potential of household organic waste as organic fertilizer and as an effort to overcome garbage accumulation. Increasing residents' motivation was done through direct discussions and practicing simple techniques for processing organic waste in groups. The results of this outreach show the community's interest and enthusiasm in utilizing organic waste to make liquid fertilizer, which can reduce environmental pollution, has economic value, and can provide nutrients to agricultural plants, replacing synthetic fertilizers. The production of MOL from household waste needs to be increased so that every household already has an effort to reduce garbage accumulation in order to maintain environmental quality.

Abstract

This activity aimed to empower the Saiyo Sakato livestock group in Nagari Kambang Barat, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, by optimising the management of Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan (KUB) chicken with local feed innovation and simpler hatching technology. The main focus was on developing local feed innovation and applying more straightforward hatching technology. The methods used included extension, training, and intensive assistance, with the livestock group being guided in creating a feed formula and demonstrating how to make an egg incubator. The results of this service showed that applying a feed formula containing local feed ingredients such as rice bran, corn, soybean meal, and fish meal could increase the productivity of KUB chickens, significantly reduce feed costs, and replace the use of commercial feed. Furthermore, the creation of egg incubators by members of the livestock group could increase hatching efficiency and contribute to the sustainable increase of the KUB chicken population in Nagari Kambang Barat. In addition, this activity also successfully enhanced the knowledge and skills of the group members in the more professional maintenance of KUB chickens, especially in making local feed formulations and hatching techniques. The high enthusiasm of the group members was evident through their active participation in each training session, the application of the knowledge gained during the activities, and their implementation in the field. The conclusion from this service activity is the increased capacity of the Saiyo Sakato livestock group in the management of KUB chicken maintenance, which not only enhances productivity and efficiency but also supports the sustainability of livestock businesses in the area through the utilisation of local resources and technological innovation. This activity provides a replicable model for empowering livestock groups in other areas with similar conditions.

Abstract

The utilization of rice washing water waste from households has not been optimized, even though it contains a large amount of essential nutrients for plant growth. This waste can be utilized as natural fertilizer for horticultural plants. Rice washing water provides various benefits for plants, is easily accessible to farmers, and is also environmentally friendly. Additionally, its price is very affordable so it can be accessed by farmers. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge and understanding of the community in making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) derived from rice washing water waste, as well as to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by shifting to organic fertilizers to maintain soil and environmental quality. This activity was conducted in Nagari Lawang, Matur District, Agam, West Sumatra. The method used was through lectures and demonstrations of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) production. The results of this activity showed that the interaction between the organizers and participants had a positive impact, improving skills, and motivating PKK mothers in plant cultivation. The home garden is seen as a productive land for nutrition and income, but there are obstacles such as lack of knowledge and capital. Overcoming these obstacles requires increasing technical knowledge and providing capital. Furthermore, this activity also resulted in increased knowledge and active participation in the process of making liquid organic fertilizer. The conclusion of this activity is to increase knowledge and skills in making LOF, motivating intensive plant cultivation. Public interest in making LOF from waste is high, increasing knowledge and skills in producing organic fertilizer for successful plant cultivation.

Abstract

Eco-enzyme is a versatile liquid that can be used in household, agriculture, livestock, and industrial fields. Its applications range from natural cosmetics, natural medicines, floor cleaners/disinfectants, insecticides, to liquid fertilizers that stimulate plant hormones to improve the quality of fruits and vegetables and increase harvest yields. Several methods of organic waste processing include eco-enzyme production and aerobic and anaerobic composting. Eco-enzymes are unique because they do not require extensive land for fermentation, unlike compost. This makes them very land-efficient and can be done at home. The purpose of this activity is to train housewives to reduce waste piles in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district of Pekanbaru city by producing eco-enzyme products. The activity takes place in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district. The target audience for this activity is housewives in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district of Pekanbaru city. The method of this activity is training and evaluation. Training is conducted directly involving the target audience. Evaluation is done before and after training through pre-tests and post-tests. The results obtained are that housewives in the Tangkerang Labuai sub-district are skilled in producing eco-enzyme products, as evidenced by the results of eco-enzyme products that meet the quality criteria of eco-enzymes. The conclusion of this activity is that the implementation can proceed according to plan and it is hoped that the community can sustainably apply eco-enzyme production activities to reduce pollution in the environment of Pekanbaru city.
