Focus and Scope WASKITA: Jurnal Pendidikan Nilai dan Pembangunan Karakter is published by the Center of Character Building Subject, Brawijaya University. WASKITA has been published offline since July 2017 and online since April 2019. In the next publication, this journal will be published twice a year on April and on October. WASKITA accepts research and conceptual papers related to values education and character building. Those values are mores, philosophical, religious, social, linguistic and literature, civil and nationalistic values. This journal also accepts literature review, book review, in depth interview of influential figure or seminar note related to values education and character building.

Abstract

The Influence of Tourism Village Status on Perceptions of Community Happiness in Jodipan, Blimbing, Malang City. The focus of this experiment is the perception of happiness among residents in the Jodipan tourism village. The basic assumption behind this experiment is that changes in the status of slum settlements in the Jodipan village which later turned into a colorful tourist villageof Jodipan are very likely to affect the level of happiness of the people who live there. This study aims to describe (a) the most influential variables in determining the level of happiness in Jodipan Village and (b) whether there is a relationship between the change in status of Kampung Jodipan (from slums to tourism villages) to the perception of happiness of the community. To test these assumptions, this study uses a quantitative-descriptive approach. The data in this study were obtained through questionnaires adjusted for indicators in measuring perceptions of happiness such as: utilization of time and life balance, speech culture and the value of religiosity, physical and mental health, and community solidarity. The data were then validated and analyzed to examine the relationship between independent variables (X), namely the status of tourist village with the dependent variable (Y), which is the perception of happiness. Furthermore, this study also aims to examine the relationship between sub-variable attitudes and sub-variables of perception of happiness as indicators.

Abstract

Internalisasi Nilai dan Karakter Melalui Budaya Sekolah. Karakter merupakan hal mendasar dalam pribadi individu yang harus dibentuk sejak dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan konsep budaya sekolah Jumat Berkah dan karakter yang dapat dibentuk melalui budaya sekolah  Jumat Berkah. Budaya sekolah Jumat Berkah mangandung nilai-nilai yang dapat dijadikan sebagai sarana untuk membentuk karakter peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan kepala sekolah, guru dan peserta didik di SMP Negeri 1 Matan Hilir Selatan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa budaya sekolah Jumat Berkah terdapat nilai religius, nasionalisme, kreativitas dan gotong royong yang dapat diinternalisasikan kepada peserta didik sebagai upaya untuk membentuk dan memperbaiki karakter. Karakter yang dapat dibentuk melalui budaya sekolah Jumat Berkah adalah karakter tangguh, bersih dan sehat, disiplin, peduli lingkungan, kerja sama, tanggung jawab, kreatif dan tolong menolong.

Abstract

The Building of Youth Character Trough Metri Ritual Value. The salvation ritual or it is so called metri in Ringinpitu Village still exists and goes on. The values contained in the ritual of metri can be used as a means to build the worthy character of the youth generation. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. Data were obtained from the results of interviews and literature review. Interviews were conducted with the elders of Ringinagung Subvillage, Ringinpitu Village, , Tulungagung Regency. The results of this study reveal that there are philosophical and religious values in ritual of metri in Ringinpitu Village. These values are contained in the ijab (speech / prayer of the leader of metri ritual) and the special dishes prepared. Worthy characters that can be built from metri rituals are mutual cooperation, cooperation, harmony, always remembering God, and always remembering the merits of the predecessors or ancestors.

Abstract

Abstrak: Media Informal Pendidikan Karakter: Analisis Cerita Film Animasi Upin dan Ipin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggambarkan nilai-nilai karakter pada film animasi serial UPIN dan IPIN.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dalam sebuah film.Penelitian mengkaji lima judul cerita film animasi serial Upin dan Ipin. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara memilih lima judul cerita, merekam cerita-cerita tersebut, dan menontonnya selama 10 kali. Alur cerita dalam bentuk film tersebut kemudian ditulis dalam bentuk naskah. Analisis data dilakukan dengan cara mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai karakter dari setiap judul cerita dan disajikan dalam bentuk tabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai-nilai karakter pada film animasi serial Upin dan Ipin adalah suka menolong, toleransi, kreatif, demokratis, berani, cerdas, saling menghargai, taat beribadah, kasih sayang. Penelitian mengimplikasikan untuk menugaskan kepada siswa untuk menonton film-film yang memiliki nilai-nilai karakter.

Abstract

Humane Education as a Method of Empathy Character for Children in School. The cases of animal abuse are escalating. The highlighted issue that indicates psychopathology is because of the lack of compassion for exploiting animals. Children with lack empathy and was familiar with the abusing act become a serious problem. To deal with the problem, humane education is a solution to maintain an effective way to cut the abusing behavior emotionally and cognitively within empathy and to have manners toward animals associates with animal welfare understanding. The program may set in a school and the suitable time to apply the program starts from nursery school to elementary school. Humane education is not only “about” animals but also “for” and “with” animals. The literature review aims to provide information on the definitions and procedures of humane education, debate, and solutions for their application in the educational setting and how humane education contributes to constructing empathy for children.

Abstract

History Education to Encourage Nationalism Interest Towards Young People Amidst Globalization. This paper attempts to construct history education concept in establishing nationalism interest towards young people amidst globalization stream. This study is a qualitative research utilizing the case study method due to object studied was derived from reality. Globalization as an inseparable era upon modern societies has been bringing significant impact in many respects of life, one of which is the education field. As part of the historical series, young people at the initial stage of the nationalism movement appeared in Indonesia performed as activators that gained profound responsibility in maintaining and developing such values. Managing historical awareness that is expected to develop national identity has become the basic goal of education. Concepts being discussed here were derived from events analysis and the development of Indonesia education recently. Beside globalization, 21st century challenges also come in the form of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Z Generation which prompt learning to be more complex. These challenges could be dealt  with continuation innovation, also critical history learning that referring to several theories and prior research is actively capable in increasing nationalism interest amidst globalization.

Abstract

Ecological Values in “Pegasus Jatuh” and The Use It In Teaching Literature. The purpose of this study, first, is to analyze the echocritical element reflected by the author through the short story Pegasus Jatuh. Second, integrate ecological values in literature teaching. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The approach used is Garrard's eco-criticism. Sources of data obtained from the behavior of characters in the short story. Data analysis begins by marking words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that have a focus on environmental exploitation. The results show in the short story “Pegasus Jatuh”, the author reflects environmental phenomena that include illegal logging, buying and selling protected animals, and exploitation of gold. The analysis applied in literature learning which has an important role in character education. Literature in education has a role to develop the language, cognitive, affective, psychomotoric, personality, and social aspects of students.

Abstract

Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter Melalui Literasi Klasik Di Zi Gui Dengan Pendekatan Teori Behavioristik. Literasi Cina klasik Di Zi Gui merupakan kegiatan membaca dan menemukan nilai-nilai karakter. Kemerosotan moral, budi pekerti dan nilai sosial pada siswa menjadi permasalahan yang mengkhawatirkan. Penguatan pendidikan karakter merupakan upaya menyeimbangkan ranah kognitif, afektif dan psikomotorik siswa. Penguatan pendidikan karakter dapat dilakukan melalui kegiatan literasi di sekolah. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pelaksanaan kegiatan literasi dengan pendekatan Teori Behavioristik B.F. Skinner dalam penguatan pendidikan karakter yang dapat diterapkan oleh para pendidik tingkat sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian ini berlandaskan kajian pustaka dengan menggunakan teknik analisis wacana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan literasi Di Zi Gui bermanfaat dalam penguatan moral dan budi pekerti siswa. Nilai moral dan karakter dalam Di Zi Gui dapat membantu siswa dalam penguatan karakter dan budi pekerti siswa.
