Focus and Scope WASKITA: Jurnal Pendidikan Nilai dan Pembangunan Karakter is published by the Center of Character Building Subject, Brawijaya University. WASKITA has been published offline since July 2017 and online since April 2019. In the next publication, this journal will be published twice a year on April and on October. WASKITA accepts research and conceptual papers related to values education and character building. Those values are mores, philosophical, religious, social, linguistic and literature, civil and nationalistic values. This journal also accepts literature review, book review, in depth interview of influential figure or seminar note related to values education and character building.

Abstract

The Content of Character Values in the Folklore of Kiai Pacet and Rara Kembang Sore. The purposes of this research are a) to describe the character values in the folklore of Kiai Pacet and Rara Kembang Sore and b) to describe the function of character values in the folklore. This research uses a qualitative approach with content analysis research methods. The source of data in this research is the text of the Tulungagung folklore (Kiai Pacet and Rara Kembang Sore) contained in the East Java Folklore anthology published by the East Java Language Center in 2011. The data for this research are narratives and dialogues from two folklore texts. The results show that the values contained in the folklore of Kiai Pacet and Rara Kembang Sore are religiousness, honesty, tolerance, creativity, curiousity, appreciation of achievement, love of peace, responsibility, and social care. The function of character values in the two folklores are the shaping and developing the potentials, improvements and strengthening, and filtering  functions.

Abstract

Cancel culture (or also known as call-out culture) is a social and cultural phenomenon that has been gaining global attention in the recent years. Public figures, company brands or institutions can be ostracized or boycotted only on the basis of disagreeing with the statement or visions of the sympathizers or the ideologues of this so-called cancel culture. This phenomenon has also slowly infiltrated the world of education and some researchers would even argue that cancel culture has its seminal growth beginning from the academe itself. Thus, with that regard, this article will critically analyze the phenomenon of cancel culture particularly in the realm of education. Anchored in the principle of academic freedom, this article shall put into scrutiny the presence of cancel culture and its presuppositions and ramifications in education. And in order to achieve such telos, as a qualitative study, this article has employed an analytical-critical reflection as its method. In this academic endeavor, then, the researchers shall rely on the perspective of Deliberative-Democratic Education Philosophy as its benchmark.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kebijakan Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan dalam Era Disrupsi Globalisasi. Era yang serba digital dan berkembanganya konstelasi kehidupan menyebabkan adanya perubahan dalam berbagai sektor, termasuk sektor pendidikan. Pendidikan di era disrupsi globalisasi mengalami perubahan dalam segi materi, aktivitas, dan proses pembelajarannya. Pendidikan kewarganegaraan di Indonesia sebagai bagian penting dari sistem pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk membentuk warga negara yang kompeten, adaptif, dan mampu bersaing di era disrupsi globalisasi harus berdasar pada nilai-nilai pancasila. Kebijakan pendidikan kewarganegaraan perlu melakukan pembaharuan berupa perubahan dan perbaikan secara komprehensif untuk kemajuan dalam dunia pendidikan itu sendiri.

Abstract

The health of the campus community is very much determined by each individual for doing, learning, and working. In the campus environment for studying and working which is thought to cause occupational diseases, so three main steps are taken, such as identification, evaluation and control of various occupational hazards and risks. This also occurs for students studying in a campus environment related to the pre-test of student conditions, the learning process, evaluation of learning outcomes and control for learning outcomes such as thought, psychic and physical. This paper aims to describe (a) What is the most influential variable for determining the health level in the campus community, and (b) Is there a relationship between the environmental godliness and the campus public health. The research is quantitative-descriptive. The research method used is a descriptive-explorative with survey. The research data was obtained through a questionnaire adjusted to indicators for measuring the health in the campus community, such as: utilization of time and balancing of life, rational thinking, physical and mental health, and social solidarity. Then the data are validated and analyzed to examine the relationship between independent variable (X) that is the environmental godliness with dependent variable (Y) that is the campus public health. Then further more this research also wants to examine relationship between the godliness sub-variables and the health sub-variables are being indicators. The results of this study have a significant relationship between environmental godliness and the campus public health in Malang. There is a strong influence of environmental godliness on the campus public health in Malang, both physically, mentally, mindly and spiritually.

Abstract

Tujuan dari studi ini adalah  mencari keterkaitan nilai ekologis dengan cerita Dewi Sri, dan menjelaskan implikasinya dalam kehidupan masyarakat Jawa Timur. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) apa nilai ekologis dalam cerita Dewi Sri?; dan (2) bagaimana implikasi nilai ekologis secara pragmatis dalam kehidupan masyarakat Jawa Timur? Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keberadaan ruh Dewi Sri membawa nilai ekologis seperti nilai hormat kepada alam, nilai kelestarian, dan nilai ketaksia-siaan. Ketiga nilai tersebut berimplikasi secara pragmatis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat Jawa Timur.

Abstract

Abstract: Inclusive Education for Down syndrome Student: Narrative Study at Brawijaya University. This article aims to portray the role of PSLD as a study center for disability services at Brawijaya University in providing inclusive education. The method used in this article is qualitative research with a narrative approach. The results in this article include, firstly, PSLD volunteers are equipped with abilities that are by the needs of students and lecturers with disabilities as provisions for Down Syndrome students. Second, educational games are often used in the teaching and learning process, because they are considered the most effective in controlling the psychological condition of Down Syndrome students with the initials FI. Third, the patience of the FI's parents is also a crucial factor to facilitate externally FIs to complete their tasks optimally and completely

Abstract

The Influence of The Use of Digital Graphic Novel Media Of Pontianak Kingdom on Historical Learning On Student Cultural Awareness in SmK Negeri Pontianak. Tradition becomes a major pointer in the content of learning history today. Character education that is the focus of national education today, in line with the goal of historical learning in general is to educate noble characters through history. The research uses quantitative methods with experimental quasi research designs.  Based on the results of research obtained from statistical tests on cultural awareness questionnaires, it can be stated that there are differences in influences on student cultural awareness attitudes between X TKJ and X Ak. This is known from sig 0.002 < 0.05. It can then be stated that there is a significant difference in student cultural awareness between X TKJ and X Ak. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an influence on the application of digital graphic novel media based on the Kingdom of Pontianak on historical learning to cultural awareness in Pontianak State Vocational School.

Abstract

Teologi Konversi Agama dan Upaya Menumbuhkan Nilai-Nilai Toleransi di Basis Multikultural. Tulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis konstruksi para elite tiga agama samawi dalam melakukan misi konversi agama di satu sisi, namun di sisi lain mereka juga harus mampu menumbuhkan nilai-nilai toleransi di tengah kehidupan mereka yang multikultural di Kabupaten Malang. Adapun pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan dalam tulisan artikel ini adalah studi komunitas (Community Studies) dengan menggunakan perspektif fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan, dan dokumentasi. Adapun hasil dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa proselitisasi atau koversi agama merupakan sebuah keniscayaan teologis yang dimiliki oleh ketiga agama samawi di Indonesia, yaitu Islam, Katolik, dan Kristen. Namun, misi konversi agama tersebut di sisi yang lain dapat mencederai nilai-nilai toleransi dalam beragama. Sehingga teologi konversi agama tersebut harus mampu dikontekstualisasikan dengan konteks kebinekaan masyarakat Indonesia yang multikultural.

Abstract

The name Kertarajasa College of Buddhism (STAB) was taken from the first king of the Majapahit Kingdom, namely Kertarajasa Jayawardana. It is hoped that the use of Kertarajasa’s name will enable STAB academics to emulate his leadership character. However, this name will lose its meaning if the younger generation, especially students, does not know and understand who he is. Therefore, this study aims to develop a character learning strategy through the example of a historical figure, Kertarajasa Jayawardhana, in a special workshop for STAB students. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method, using pre-test and post-test as a form of value internalization. Students who are research subjects directly experience the workshop activities (experiential learning). They were asked to confirm the values they learned from the character Kertarajasa Jayawardhana by self-reflection on nature and cooperative learning. Based on the pre-test and post-test scores, the study results did not show a significant difference in the character of STAB Kertarajasa students. There are values from Kertarajasa Jayawardhana's leadership that have inspired students to imitate him, for example: becoming a progressive leader. However, some matters are owned by the character but have not been able to be captured by students, and the only one is the visionary character.
