Abstract

Exclusivism has left a dark history. Heterogeneous life, mutual suspicion, and fighting over adherents became genealogical roots and the forerunner of the seeds of religious exclusivism. This background of conditions has resulted in the potential for religious exclusivism to start infecting Christians and Muslims in the multicultural base on the outskirts of Malang Regency. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the scene on the multicultural floor of Malang Regency, which has been spitting on the narrative of the rivalry of truth, has metamorphosed into a feud of goodness. Then, the method used by the researcher is included in field research and uses a phenomenological perspective. The results of this study, namely the pandemic situation, forced religious patterns to change. In this context, the sacred forum in Malang Regency reorients the rivalry of truth with various things, such as emphasizing tolerance, religious moderation, and considering the Covid-19 pandemic to be a common enemy, so that there is value for unity.

Abstract

Women are often seen as an incapable group that does not have more capacity than men, but women are proven to have an important role in the development of character education. A novel as literature is a learning medium to introduce the essential role of women in character development amid the rise of contradictory reading materials containing harmful content contrasting with Pancasila values. This research aimed to examine the implicit values of character development in the novel "Si Anak Pemberani" regarding women's roles. The analysis was conducted using a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach to determine the values shown by female characters in this novel. Data was collected by emphasizing the dominant female characters in values' building and distributions. The collected data had been presented in a table to identify whichever values appealed to specific figures clearly. The results showed that those values consisted of tolerance, curiosity, social care, environmentalism, integrity, responsibility, religiosity, and nationalism. This study practically can be helpful for educators in either formal or non-formal institutions to habit the young generation in reading books containing positive values as a character development method.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia has a fundamental norm that is extracted from the noble values of its people. However, the noble values of Indonesian life today have begun to fade due to the influence of foreign cultures and the rapid development of information technology. The purpose of this study was to explore and discover the concept of socio-cultural values among millennial adolescents in the Malang Regency. The method used in this research is a mixed method with a descriptive survey quantitative approach and qualitative grounded theory. This research is in the form of a survey of millennial adolescents in Malang Regency and in-depth data mining on certain respondents. The results of the study show that there are changes and shifts in the understanding of sociocultural values in millennial adolescents such as the concept of the value of tolerance, gotong royong, and courtesy. One of the factors causing the shift in the understanding of these socio-cultural values is gadget technology. The current millennial generation sees the socio-cultural values that exist in society such as (tolerance, gotong-royong, and courtesy) only as a theoretical understanding that they must understand and apply without understanding the substance of the meaning of those values.
