Abstract

A challenge as well as a new breakthrough for Arabic language teachers to change the mindset that Arabic lessons are easy lessons to learn. One of them is by implementing learning media based on Autoplay Studio in Arabic language learning. The learning process by utilizing this media is not only fun, interactive but also challenging because it will have an effect on increasing the competence of students and the creativity of educators. Arabic learning at the SMP/MTs level is directed at mastering language skills (maharah al-lughah), which includes 4 skills including: 1). listening (maharah al-istima '); 2). speaking (maharah al-kalam), 3). reading (maharah al-qiraah), and 4). writing (maharah al-kitabah). These 4 skills cannot be achieved without having skills in good vocabulary mastery, because the quality of a person's language skills depends on the level of proficiency and the amount of vocabulary he has. This study uses the Research and Development (RD) Borg and Gall model. Sources of data in this study obtained by means of interview techniques, observation, and documentation. The results of this study are that teachers and students want the development of interactive multimedia-based learning media based on Autoplay Studio for Arabic vocabulary mastery for class VIII. The results of the assessment can be seen that the value of the overall media feasibility aspect is with an average value of 84.5 which means this media is in the score range of 81-100 reaching a scale of 5 with a very good category (very decent). Thus, it can be concluded that the interactive media based on Autoplay Studio that was developed is very suitable for use by class VIII students at SMP Muhammadiyah Imogiri.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to describe the invest of disciplined character in an effort to grow independent learning. This research activity was carried out through an in-depth study with a qualitative descriptive approach at random at the elementary school in the Yogyakarta. The data collection technique was done by triangulation (combined), using inductive/qualitative data analysis. Triangulation of data was carried out by means of interviews, observations, and documents related to the invest of character values in growing independent learning during the pandemic. Interviews were conducted with randomly selected primary school teachers and randomly selected 4th and 5th grade students from several schools. Observations were made by following the virtual learning process conducted by the interviewed teachers. Supporting documents used are student attendance data and recap of assignments for a certain period. The data obtained in the field is recorded in descriptive form as it is in the form of small notes then a reflection note is made containing comments from researchers related to phenomena in the field. From the results of interviews with teachers and parents obtained data that the character of discipline will affect the growth of various independent characters in students. Students who have a disciplined character will get used to living regularly. Awareness will grow in students to carry out their activities because students feel the need to do so. Independent learning during online learning requires cooperation between teachers and parents or guardians. Students remain under parental supervision when outside the virtual learning process. Parents or guardians play a role as mentors for students in growing independent learning. The character of discipline and independence that needs to be instilled in students is not only limited to learning. But also discipline in carrying out their daily routines. This independence of learning in students will have an impact on reducing the dependence of students to learn by waiting for orders or accompanied by parents.

Abstract

The study sought to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Nyanga, Zimbabwe. The researchers were motivated to carry out the research due to the endless outcry by students who are finding CALA difficult to execute and teachers who are also finding it difficult to guide the students. The initiative was introduced by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education arguably without proper planning and budgeting, which has so far affected the implementation process. The researchers adopted an exploratory research approach to understand the key factors that have impacted on the implementation of Continuous Assessment Learning Activities (CALA) in Zimbabwe. A qualitative research approach was used by the researcher through the use of questionnaires as a data collection instrument for the research. A total of 35 questionnaires were distributed to both the students and teachers from various schools in Nyanga District in Manicaland and a response rate of 94% was yielded. The results indicate that the decision to introduce continuous assessment activities in secondary schools was noble, but it was negatively affected by a number of controllable factors. The findings of the study also showed that there was poor planning by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in the implementation of CALA, which has led to students’ outcry. The researchers recommended the involvement of teachers in the decision making process as they are the implementers of the initiative. The importance of teachers in the process should not be overlooked as they are the gatekeepers who play an important role in the success of this noble initiative. Keywords:  Continuous Assessment, Teacher Motivation, Secondary Education, Primary Education

Abstract

The purposes of the study were to: 1) Develop a problem based learning module for the fourth-grade students, and 2) Discover the feasibility of the learning module. This study was conducted by using Research and Development (RD) as proposed by Borg and Gall (1983). In the field test stage, 52 fourth-grade students were involved as participants in an experimental design. The participants were divided into two group, while one group conducted learning by implementing the PBL Module, the other group conducted learning on regular basis with textbook from the government. The qualitative data were analyzed using qualitative method, and the quantitative data were analyzed by using Wilcoxon test. The results of this study reveal that: 1) The PBL Module was developed in accordance with PBL syntax; 2) The results of the development PBL  modules was feasible to be applied. The feasibility of PBL Modules based on the expert validation, validation of practitioners, and small-scale trial respondents obtains the "Good" category; 3) PBL-based modules are effective for increasing students’ achievement motivation as indicated by the Wilcoxon test producing obtained probability (p) of 0.027 (p 0.05), Ho is rejected, so there are differences in achievement motivation before and after using the PBL module. Based on the research results it can be concluded that the characteristics of PBL-based modules are in accordance with PBL syntax; Decent and effective way to increase achievement motivation of the fourth-grade students. Keywords: module; problem-based learning; achievement motivation.

Abstract

Our initial study in the course showed that there was a lack of students’ understanding about social science. The purpose of this study was to investigated the effectiveness of using Cooperative Learning Model (Cooperative Script, Articulation, and Guided Note Taking) towards Pre-Service Elementary Teacher understanding on Social Science Course. This research was conducted in quasi-experimental research, with counterbalance research design. The subjects of this study were first year of undergraduate students of pre-service elementary school teacher education at the University of Kuningan. The data collection technique used was an instrument test which was an essay question. The data analyzed by statistical test with the t-test (independent samples t-test) at a 95% confidence level obtained tcalc ttable and probability value sig. (2-tailed) 0.05. The results of this study proved that there are differences in students' understanding so that the hypothesis is accepted. In our context, Cooperative Script was more sophisticated in improving student understanding compared to Articulation and Guided Note Taking. The limitation of our context means that there is no best method to be applied. Keywords: understanding; cooperative script; articulation; guided note taking; pre-service elementary teacher
