Abstract

Education in Indonesia faces the challenge of integrating the development of spiritual character with scientific cognitive abilities, which have often been treated as separate domains. This study aims to examine the relationship between religious character and scientific literacy among elementary school students. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 120 fifth- and sixth-grade students at SDI Plus Hidayatut Tholibin, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a religious character questionnaire and a scientific literacy test, then analyzed descriptively and through Pearson correlation. The results show that students’ religious character falls into the "good" category, while their scientific literacy is in the "adequate" category. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between religious character and scientific literacy (r = 0.554; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that both aspects can mutually reinforce each other within the educational process. The study concludes that integrating religious character education with science education can foster students with a strong moral foundation and critical scientific thinking skills, offering implications for the development of integrated curricula in primary education.

Abstract

The widespread use of online games among adolescents has sparked various social debates, highlighting the need for empirical studies on its impact. This study aims to analyze the influence of online game usage on adolescent behavior in Lamunga Village, Taliwang District, West Sumbawa Regency. A quantitative approach was employed using simple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that online game usage does not have a significant influence on adolescent behavior. This is reflected in the coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.151, suggesting that only 15.1% of the variation in adolescent behavior can be explained by online game usage, while the remaining 84.9% is influenced by other factors not covered in this study. These findings imply that although online gaming is a prominent phenomenon, its impact on adolescent behavior is not isolated and must be understood within the broader context of social, environmental, and psychological factors.

Abstract

The moral crisis in primary education—marked by declining empathy, increased student conflict, and the dominance of academic achievement—necessitates curriculum innovation grounded in affective values. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Kurikulum Cinta (Curriculum of Love) as a character-strengthening model at SDIT Cahaya Hati Pedan, focusing on teachers’ understanding, implementation strategies, encountered challenges, and its impact on student behavior. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research involved five teachers as participants through semi-structured interviews, observation, and analysis of instructional documents. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, involving systematic stages of data reduction, display, and verification. The findings indicate that all teachers understand the Kurikulum Cinta as a humanistic approach emphasizing compassion, empathy, and respect for students. Implementation strategies include affective, non-punitive methods such as advice, rewards, positive touch, and motivation. Major challenges stem from internal student factors (60%), such as low learning motivation and social conflict, and external factors (40%), including teacher limitations, parenting styles, and gadget dependency. Nevertheless, 80% of teachers reported positive behavioral changes among students, including increased empathy, harmony, care, and enthusiasm for learning, while 20% observed gradual shifts toward responsible behavior. These findings suggest that the Kurikulum Cinta is effective in enhancing character education, although its success requires the support of a cohesive ecosystem involving families, schools, and aligned digital policies.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the integration of the Probing Prompting model with Couple Card media, despite the belief that dialogic approaches combined with concrete visual aids can enhance elementary students’ learning outcomes in thematic instruction. The study aims to analyze the implementation of the Probing Prompting model assisted by Couple Card media, describe students' learning outcomes, and assess the model’s effect on the learning achievement of Grade III students at MIN 4 Sukoharjo. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed, involving 108 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires to evaluate the implementation of the instructional model and final assessment (PAT) scores to measure learning outcomes. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results indicate that the implementation of the Probing Prompting model with Couple Card media was at a high level, while student learning outcomes were categorized as good. Statistically, there is a positive and significant effect of the model’s implementation on students’ learning outcomes in thematic subjects, with a contribution of 8.3%. These findings suggest that combining structured questioning techniques with concrete visual media can enhance students’ cognitive engagement and academic performance. The study’s implications highlight the importance of developing interactive and contextual learning strategies at the elementary level and recommend further research to examine the model’s effectiveness across different educational stages and learning contexts.

Abstract

The limited number of studies on the use of interactive student worksheets (Lembar Kerja Siswa, LKS) in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools) forms the background of this research, despite the widely held belief that interactive learning materials hold significant potential for improving students’ mathematical understanding. This study aims to analyze the influence of interactive LKS utilization on the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at MI Muhammadiyah Jimbung, Klaten Regency. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed, using total population sampling (N = 45). Data were collected through a 24-item Likert scale questionnaire measuring the intensity of LKS use, documentation of daily test scores as indicators of learning outcomes, and contextual classroom observations. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, assumption tests (normality and linearity), and simple linear regression using SPSS. The results show a positive and significant influence of interactive LKS use on mathematics learning outcomes (R = 0.450; R² = 0.202; B ≈ 0.383; F(1,43) = 10.889; p = 0.002). This indicates that 20.2% of the variation in mathematics learning outcomes can be explained by the intensity of interactive LKS utilization. These findings reinforce the role of interactive LKS as a key component in foundational mathematics instruction, particularly within the context of the Kurikulum Merdeka, and support the application of multimodal learning and scaffolding principles in the classroom. The study’s implications highlight the need to improve LKS design quality, provide teacher training in the development of interactive teaching materials, and encourage further experimental research using standardized test instruments to strengthen causal validity and generalizability.

Abstract

Although digital media increasingly shape Islamic practices and da’wah, limited scholarly attention has been paid to how Generation Z engages with digital Qur’an applications in rural contexts. This study aims to examine how Generation Z in Muncan Village interprets, experiences, and utilizes digital Qur’an applications as tools for both personal spirituality and religious propagation. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research involved 28 purposively selected participants aged 18–25 who actively used applications such as Quran Best, Muslim Pro, and Ayat. Data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s interactive model—comprising data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that digital Qur’an applications are perceived by Generation Z as both practical and spiritually enriching, facilitating daily worship, comprehension, reflection, and the cultivation of hybrid religiosity. Key factors influencing engagement include technological accessibility, social interaction, intrinsic spiritual motivation, and user-centered design. Despite these advantages, challenges such as digital distractions and emotional attachment to the printed mushaf persist. Additionally, the use of these applications has transformed Islamic da’wah into a participatory and ethically conscious digital practice, wherein individual acts of devotion extend into online sharing and peer-supported religious engagement. The study concludes that digital Qur’an applications significantly enhance recitation, understanding, and expressions of digital piety, reflecting a broader transformation in contemporary Islamic observance. These findings contribute to the theoretical development of digital religiosity and offer actionable insights for educators, da’i, and application developers in advancing inclusive and context-sensitive digital da’wah strategies. Future research should investigate long-term usage patterns and comparative rural–urban dynamics.

Abstract

Listening skills constitute an essential component of Indonesian language learning, contributing to the development of students’ overall language competence. However, students' limited comprehension of fables delivered by teachers highlights the need for innovative instructional media. This issue often stems from the use of monotonous and insufficiently interactive methods, which diminish students’ interest and focus. This study aims to improve learning outcomes in listening to fables through the application of finger puppet media among second-grade students at MI An-Najihah Babussalam Kebonsari Madiun in the 2024–2025 academic year. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The study involved 20 students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings show a significant improvement in both learning outcomes and student engagement. Mastery learning increased from 45% in the pre-cycle to 80% in Cycle I, and reached 95% in Cycle II. Learning activities also improved from 50% to 90%. These results indicate that finger puppet media are effective in enhancing listening skills for fables and in fostering a more engaging, active, and enjoyable learning environment. Abstract

This study addresses the persistent challenge of low descriptive text writing ability among seventh-grade students, which is largely attributed to conventional teaching methods that lack authentic experiential engagement. The research aimed to evaluate the impact of implementing the Direct Observation Method on students’ descriptive writing proficiency. Using a one-group pretest–posttest design, 30 seventh-grade students from SMPN 2 Nainggolan were selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a performance test scored with a validated rubric based on Nurgiyantoro’s framework. Statistical analysis employing a paired-samples t-test revealed a significant improvement in students’ writing performance (t observed = 7.677 > t critical = 1.699), with mean scores increasing from 54.33 (Very Poor) to 77.83 (Good), representing a 23.50-point gain. The method showed its strongest effects on content development (+8.1 points) and organization (+6.3 points), while linguistic aspects exhibited more moderate improvement. These findings indicate that direct environmental engagement substantially enhances students’ ability to generate and organize descriptive content and offer educators a practical strategy for bridging the gap between theoretical instruction and authentic writing experiences in descriptive text composition.
