Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of technology-based learning media in the learning process, determine students’ learning motivation levels, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors of using technology-based learning media in improving the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Sama Guna. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with primary data sources consisting of classroom teachers, students, and the principal, while secondary data sources include learning documents and activity documentation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings are expected to show that the use of technology-based learning media, such as instructional videos, PowerPoint presentations, projectors, and smart TVs, can create a more engaging, interactive, and less monotonous learning environment, thereby increasing students’ attention, participation, and enthusiasm for learning. Supporting factors include the availability of technological facilities, school support, and students’ learning enthusiasm, while inhibiting factors include teachers’ limited ability to operate technology and the suboptimal utilization of learning media. Therefore, the use of technology-based learning media has the potential to become an effective strategy for improving elementary school students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

Traditional sports are part of Indonesia's cultural heritage that is increasingly abandoned by children, particularly elementary school students, following a shift from traditional play toward technology-based games. In Pelem Village, Campurdarat Subdistrict, traditional sports are almost never practiced by elementary school students during Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) lessons. This study aimed to determine students' level of understanding of traditional sports, referring to the comprehension concept proposed by Kurniawan (2023), which covers the definition, purpose and benefits, and types of traditional sports and games. This descriptive quantitative study used a survey method. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 83 fourth-grade students from four public elementary schools in Pelem Village, supported by observation and interviews with PJOK teachers. Data were analyzed descriptively using SPSS and Microsoft Excel. The results showed that students' understanding of traditional sports fell into the very high category for 66.27% (55 students), high for 6.02% (5 students), moderate for 24.10% (20 students), low for 2.41% (2 students), and very low for 1.20% (1 student). It can be concluded that elementary school students in Pelem Village generally have a high level of understanding of traditional sports, although the teaching of traditional sports has not yet been optimally implemented in PJOK lessons, so an active role from teachers is needed to optimize it.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the still dominant use of conventional media such as lectures and whiteboards at RA Syifa'unnufus, which is less than optimal in instilling religious values in early childhood. Whereas, the instillation of religious values is a fundamental aspect in shaping children's character from an early age. This study aims to identify religious values in the Upin & Ipin animated film, describe the process of its use, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with passive participant observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The research subjects were 11 children from group A and the classroom teacher. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the Upin & Ipin film contains religious values such as greeting, praying, politeness, helping others, honesty, and respecting parents. The implementation is carried out through planning stages, execution with teacher guidance, and evaluation of children's behavior. Supporting factors include children's interest, facilities, and teacher support, while inhibiting factors include time constraints, lack of episode variation, and external environmental influences. Thus, the Upin & Ipin animated film is effectively used as an alternative medium for instilling religious values in early childhood education.

Abstract

Phonological awareness is a fundamental skill that supports early literacy development in young children. This study aimed to: (1) analyze the role of parents in developing children's phonological awareness at home; (2) identify the factors that support parents' involvement in fostering children's phonological awareness; and (3) examine the factors that hinder parents' role in developing children's phonological awareness. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The participants consisted of three parents, teachers, and Group A children at Cahaya Hati Playgroup. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using a case study analysis approach, while the trustworthiness of the findings was established through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that parents assumed four essential roles in promoting children's phonological awareness: as role models, mentors, organizers, and teachers. These roles were implemented through shared reading of picture storybooks, letter puzzle activities, the use of alphabet posters, and positive reinforcement during learning activities. Supporting factors included children's learning motivation, memory ability, family literacy practices, and a supportive home environment. The primary inhibiting factor was children's fluctuating moods, which affected their participation in learning activities. The findings suggest that active parental involvement in the home literacy environment plays a significant role in strengthening children's phonological awareness as a foundation for early reading development.

Abstract

This study was motivated by children's limited understanding of healthy eating habits, evidenced by picky eating behaviors, a dislike for fruits and vegetables, and difficulty distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy foods. The limited range of instructional media used by teachers also highlighted the need to develop engaging and interactive media. This study aimed to develop an interactive Wordwall game, assess its feasibility based on expert evaluations, and gauge the responses of both teachers and children. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research subjects were children in Group B at RA Persatuan Islam Al-Amin Kotabaru. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, expert validation, and product trials, then analyzed descriptively using percentages. Validation results showed scores of 95% from the subject matter expert (highly feasible), 77.08% from the media expert (feasible), and 97.5% from the language expert (highly feasible). Observations of children's activities yielded an average score of 93.33%, while the implementation of the media reached 100%; both were categorized as "very good." Teachers responded positively, and the children demonstrated enthusiasm and active participation in identifying and distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy foods. Thus, the interactive Wordwall game is suitable for introducing healthy eating habits to Group B children.

Abstract

Fine motor skills are crucial for early childhood development. One way to foster these skills is through cutting activities. Such activities help train hand-eye coordination, finger muscle strength, and precision. Preliminary observations at Bina Lestari Kindergarten indicated that the children were still struggling with cutting tasks. This study aims to describe the process and outcomes of stimulation provided through cutting activities for children aged 4–5 years. A descriptive qualitative research design was employed. The subjects were five children from Group A at Bina Lestari Kindergarten, located in Sesait Village, Kayangan District, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Data were collected through participant observation, documentation, and field notes over four sessions spanning two weeks. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that consistent stimulation through cutting activities led to improvements in the children's fine motor skills: children who were initially afraid to hold scissors became confident, their grip technique improved, and their cutting results became neater and more aligned with the patterns. The cutting activities also fostered greater confidence, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. The study concludes that cutting activities are an effective medium for stimulating fine motor skills in children aged 4–5 years.

Abstract

Early childhood language development is an important aspect in supporting children’s communication and social interaction skills. Parents play a primary role in providing language stimulation through daily verbal interactions. This study aims to describe the role of parents in early childhood language development at Segara Anak Daycare Center. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data credibility was ensured through source triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that children’s language development is influenced by the quality of parent–child verbal interaction, communication habits at home, and patterns of gadget use in parenting. The daycare center functions as a supportive environment for language stimulation but cannot fully replace the role of parents. Optimal language development occurs when there is synergy between parents and the daycare center.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of a deep learning approach in developing emotional regulation in children aged 5-6 years at the Majidi PKK Kindergarten. Emotional regulation in early childhood plays a crucial role as a foundation for social skills, but initial observations indicate that children's emotional management still consists of situational reprimands without a process that helps children understand their own feelings. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 10 children in Group B, 3 class teachers, and 5 parents as data sources through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model and strengthened by source triangulation. Implementation was designed through three stages of daily activities that reflect the three dimensions of deep learning: recognizing emotions (mindful learning), understanding the cause and effect of emotions (meaningful learning), and responding to emotions healthily (joyful learning). The results of initial observations showed that most children were in the Beginning to Develop and Developing According to Expectations categories, with the lowest achievements in the aspects of self-calming and verbal expression. After implementing the deep learning approach, achievement shifted toward Developing as Expected and Developing Very Well, which was confirmed by teacher and parent interviews regarding the child's increased ability to recognize, explain, and manage their emotions, both at school and at home. These findings confirm that emotional regulation can be developed effectively through conscious, meaningful, and enjoyable learning, with teachers acting as facilitators and parental support as a factor in strengthening sustainability.
