Abstract

This research abstract aims to analyze the role of Kiai's da'wah discourse and the teachings contained within the Kitab Kuning in constructing narratives of peace and religious moderation in Indonesian pesantren. This research is significant due to the strategic position of pesantren as the oldest Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and the urgent need to instill values of religious moderation in response to increasing intolerance and radicalism in society. The object of this study is the da'wah discourse delivered by Kiai, as well as relevant excerpts from the Kitab Kuning used in the educational process within pesantren. Employing a qualitative approach with discourse analysis methods, this research includes thematic analysis to identify patterns of meaning and in-depth discourse analysis to understand the construction of these narratives. The findings indicate that Kiai's da'wah consistently emphasizes themes of tolerance, mutual respect, and the active construction of peace, strongly supported by principles derived from the Kitab Kuning. Kiai play a central role in interpreting and contextualizing these classical teachings to make them relevant to the lives of santri and contemporary challenges, thereby effectively fostering narratives of peace and moderation within the pesantren environment and broader society. This research concludes that the interaction between Kiai's da'wah and the Kitab Kuning plays a fundamental role in promoting religious moderation and building narratives of peace in pesantren.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effect of implementing a constructivist approach in English language learning on students' understanding of teaching principles. The constructivist approach, which emphasizes students' active role in constructing knowledge through social interaction, reflection, and direct experience, is expected to improve students' understanding of English teaching theories. This study used an experimental design with an experimental group receiving constructivist-based learning and a control group using traditional methods. The research sample consisted of 35 4th semester students of the English Education Study Program at Mandalika University of Education, who were selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through written tests to measure the understanding of teaching principles, as well as questionnaires to measure students' perceptions of the application of constructivist approaches in learning. Based on the test results, there was an increase in the average pre-test score from 63 to 85 after the application of the constructivist approach, which showed a significant increase of 35%. In addition, questionnaire data showed that 78% of students felt more involved in learning after applying the constructivist approach. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test to test for significant differences between the experimental and control groups. The results showed that the implementation of constructivist approach in English language learning has a positive influence on students' understanding of teaching principles. Students who engaged in constructivist learning experienced a significant increase in understanding compared to those who used traditional methods. The study also found that the factors of motivation and active involvement of students in learning played an important role in the successful implementation of the constructivist approach.

Abstract

A secret marriage is considered invalid by the state, therefore, children born from this marriage are considered as children born out of wedlock. This is different from the religious perspective. This opinion is based on article 43 paragraph (1) of the Marriage Law which states that "Children born out of wedlock may only have a civil relationship with their mother and their mother's family. Therefore, a secret marriage will annul the rights of the wife and children. However, there are quite a few implementations of marriage in regions where the implementation of marriage is only based on religious law and customary law, without involving the Marriage Registrar so that this marriage is considered a secret marriage which often causes losses to the wife and children born. The lack of guarantees of civil rights as a result of a secret marriage results in the child not getting citizenship status, and the child only has a civil relationship with the mother and her mother's family, which in turn bears the burden of child maintenance costs.Married couples must comply with religious and state laws. In Islamic law, marriage must fulfill the pillars of marriage which include prospective husband, prospective wife, marriage guardian, two witnesses, ijab and kabul, while state law requires that the validity of the marriage must be registered in accordance with applicable laws. However, there are many implementations of marriage in regions where the implementation of marriage is only based on religious and customary laws, without involving Marriage Registrars so that this marriage is considered a secret marriage which often causes losses to the wife and the children born. The lack of guarantees of civil rights as a result of a secret marriage results in the child not getting citizenship status, and the child only has a civil relationship with the mother and her mother's family, which in turn bears the burden of child maintenance costs.
