Abstract

The administration of cephalosporin group antibiotics in patients with post-surgical appendicitis is necessary to prevent postoperative wounds. This pharmacoeoconomic study was conducted retrospectively in the period of 1 January to 31 December 2015 in RSUD Subang for the purpose of determining the effectiveness of drugs and the cost of antibiotic use of ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, and ceftizoxime injection by Cost Effectiveness Analysis method. The subject of the patient was 78 people. Based on Average Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ACER), the smallest value is ceftriaxone Rp 729.124 / day, while the result of Cost Effectiveness plane with cefotaxime as standard drug, ceftriaxone occupies quadrant IV and ceftizoxime occupies quadrant I. The result of Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) calculation obtained by difference of value equal to Rp 106.347 / day hence can be concluded that antibiotic injection of cefotaxime as standard injection antibiotics used by RSUD Subang can be replaced by antibiotic injection of ceftizoxim by adding cost Rp 106.347 / day but need attention to resource especially funds owned and should be selected if sufficient resources are available.

Abstract

This study was conducted to prove the hypothesis that Curcumin could prevent the oxidative damage of rat liver mitochondria induced by t-butylhydroperoxide (t-BHP). The induction of 400 uMt-BHP reduced Gluthatione Peroxidase (GPx) activity from (0.29+0.03) to (0.04+0.01) umol/min/mg protein. Instillation of Curcumin of 1000 uM could elevate GPx activity to (0.16+0.002) umol/min/mg protein.

Abstract

Isolation and identifi cation of chemical compound as anticancer from the leaves of Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) had been done. Extraction was conducted successfully with n-hexane, ethylacetate and ethanol by maceration, and by refl ux for water solvent. Fractionation of ethylacetate extract by column chromatography (SiO2). n-hexane-ethylacetate = 10:1 ~ 1:1; ethylacetate). n-hexaneethylacetate = 5:1) gave one pure isolated fraction fr. 5-3 with inhibition activity against leukemia cell line L1210 at concentration 1.515 ppm. Chemical structure determination was done based on spectral data interpretation of Infra Red, 1D NMR (1H, 13C) and 2D NMR (H-H COSY, HMQC and HMBC) and mass spectra (LC-MS). Pure isolated fraction fr. 5-3 was deducted as methyl ether naragenine.

Abstract

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors are high demand drugs in the market. However, available COX-2 inhibitors nowadays have many side effects. Therefore, there is still a need to develop more potent selective COX-2 inhibitors and one of the method that has been prove the effectivity and eficiency for new drugs research is in silico. Structure-based virtual screening (SBVS) protocols were developed to find COX-2 inhibitors using the Protein-Ligand ANT System (PLANTS) docking software, SPORES, BKChem and Open Babel. The directory of useful decoys (DUD) dataset for COX-2 was used to validate the protocols retrospectively; the DUD consist of 426 known COX-2 inhibitors and 13289 decoys. Based on criteria value of EF20% and EFmax used in the article from Huang et al (2006) and Yuniarti et al (2011), two validated protocol, AYO_COX2_v.1.1 and AYO_COX2_v.1.2 , showed good results

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is defined as giving breast milk to a baby without any additional drink, food or beverages during the first 6 months after birth. Today there is a decline in exclusive breastfeeding, and among others, one reason is the increase in the participation of mothers in the workforce, especially in urban areas. Many factors that affect the regularity of exclusive breastfeeding by working mothers, one of which, is the demographic factor. This study aims to obtain profile data of exclusive breastfeeding by working mothers and statistical modelling of exclusive breastfeeding by working mothers based on demographic factor, by conducting a survey on 384 respondents. This research uses descriptive analysis and logistic regression analysis with SPSS software version 15.0. Descriptive analysis showed that most mothers working in Jakarta (61.2%) did not give exclusive breastfeeding. Logistic regression statistical analysis showed that age, occupation, distance to work, and travel time to the workplace of working mothers are dominant factors that influence exclusive breastfeedings, with the p-value is smaller than the p value (Sig) = 0.05.
