Abstract

PRB drugs service was given to chronically patients who still need long term treatment therefore there was need to guarantee the availability of medicines for their therapeutic needs. The objectives of this research were to know about PRB drug management, to know drug management support, policy, the availability of PRB drugs, and to analize the effects of drug management, drug management support, and policy on drug availability in PRB drug facility in Ex Karesidenan Kediri. Study on the availability of drugs hypertension due to prevalence of hypertension disease tends to increase from 7.6% in 2007 to 9.5% in 2013. This research used cross sectional approach by giving questionnaires to 18 respondents of PRB drug managers who had fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Those respondents were measured on the capability in PRB drug managements and assessment of PRB drug management support and policy. The questionnaires were valid and reliable. The management, management support, and policy score were tested for effect on PRB drug availability for Hypertension by using multiple linear regression. From this research, it was known that PRB Drug Management, PRB Drug Management Supporting Assessment, and PRB Policy by PRB drug managers in drug service facilities in Ex Karesidenan Kediri were mostly categorized as good enough. The availability of PRB drugs at PRB drugs facility with stock calculations indicated the ability to provide PRB medication to serve PRB prescription of hypertension was 28.71%. While the facilitieas that were able to serve an average of 72.67, thus providing substitution drugs beyond the average of PRB stock of 43.95%. The efforts were done for examples, borrowed similar drugs from regular supplies, medicines administered when they were available, or established the similar drugs at prices closed to e-catalogue. The results of the analysis showed that simultaneously PRB Drug Management factors, PRB Drug Management Supports, and PRB Policy have significant effects on PRB Drug Availability (p<0.10). PRB drug management had the greatest effects on the availability (p<0.10), especially in the case of Drug Selection (p<0.10). Selection of drugs was the first step to be done from a cycle of drug management, where the early step was the step that most determine the next steps. The pharmaceutical management framework affected the availability of PRB drugs, particularly the Drug Management factor, especially in the drug selection step. Drug selection was an early step of the drug management cycle that determined the next step.

Abstract

Acne can be caused by bacteria, such as Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Red ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc. var. rubrum) has been studied for its antibacterial activity. The aims of this research was to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of red ginger rhizome ethanol extract against P. acnes and S. epidermidis bacteria and the effectiveness when the extraxt formulated into gel. The simplicia was extracted by soxhlet using 96% ethanol. Diffusion method was used to measure the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of extract. Afterwards, the extract was forrmulated into gel by using three variation of HPMC 4000 and carbopol 934 as gel base with ratio of 70:30 (Formula I), 50:50 (Formula II) and 30:70 (Formula III). Gel evaluation included organoleptic, spreadability, adhesive property, pH and antibacterial effectiveness. The data was analyzed by R-Commander program 2.14.1 Version. The results showed MIC values are 0.45% against P. acnes and 0.5% against S.epidermidis. The results of evaluation for 30 days of storage showed that the gels had stable pH and adhesion, homogenous, whereas the spreadablity of gels increased. Antibacterial evaluation showed that formula I give the best effectiveness with 16,11 mm zone of inhibition against P. acnes and 14,00 mm against S.epidermidis.

Abstract

A. aegypti mosquito is a vector of virus caused dengue fever. The effort to control A. aegypti vector has been done so many times, including chemical, physical and biological method. A biological control against this vector can be performed by utilizing soursop seeds which are known to have larvicidal effect against the larva. Previously, it has been proven that the extract of soursop seed demonstrated larvicidal activity against A. aegypti. In this research, the extraction of soursop seed has been carried out by kinetic maceration with the solvent 70% of ethanol. Furthermore, the wet granulation of the obtained extract was used for the preparation of granules which were then tested its larvicidal activity against A. aegypti. Based on the activity test against the larva of Aedes aegypti, the granules showed LC50 values of 295.434 ppm smaller than temephos as a positive control that has larvicidal activity of 1 ppm cause 100% mortality A. aegypti.

Abstract

Population growth increase, without support from good economic conditions, requirer population control. One of the program to control population growth is family planning program (KB). The participation of men in family planning programs is very important. Male contraception can utilize natural materials derived from plants. One of the herb is guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.) which contains many active substances that can inhibit the process of spermatogenesis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract guava leaves to the quality (concentration, viability, morphology, and motility) of spermatozoa and the expression of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in the testes of mice (Mus musculus L.). The research used experimental design with completely randomized sampling method. Four treatment groups, namely P0 using aquadest as a control 0,5 mL, P1 using 15 mg/25g body weight extract orally, P2 using 20 mg/25g body weight extract orally, and P3 using 25 mg/25g body weight extract orally. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni Post Hoc test 5%. The results showed that ethanol extract guava leaves with a dose of 15mg/25g body weight had significantly decreased sperm quality and increased expression of COX-2 in the testes of mice. This research indicates that guava leaves have a potential to be used as a herbal contraceptive.
